Burning Pile — Mother mother

CYNTHIA AND MIGUELS FAMILY SAT AROUND a small, and squished table as they watched Johnny and Bianca finish up dinner. None of them knew why exactly they were letting the two cook. It was obvious that all Simon, Carmen, and Yaya could cook better so it seemed like this was a bad idea.

Considering Bianca and Johnny were the worst cooks to exist.

"This is not going to end well." Cynthia whispered to her boyfriend who nodded his head lightly, giving her an i know look.

"Alright, fajitas and veggies." Bianca spoke, happily clapping her hands together.

"We even have flour and corn tortillas." Johnny grinned, both adults looking happy at what they had made. "Oh, and pico de gallo."

"Thank you, guys. This looks very good." Carmen smiled politely, looking down at the table as the two of them placed trays down on them.

"Yeah, delicious." Simon wanted to be polite, for the sake of getting along with his sisters boyfriend but, he had little to no hope this meal would taste good.

"Thanks, I got the recipe from the chilis website." Johnny replied proudly as he pulled out the chair for both him, and Bianca.

"Chili's? You told me you got the authentic recipe from someone!" Bianca slapped the mans arm and shook her head as she sat down beside him.

"It's Chili's, that's still authentic." The blonde man defended, putting his hands up in the air.

"Authentic for who? We're Ecuadorian, not Mexican." Yaya spoke in Spanish, Cynthia understanding for the most part. Ever since she became Miguel's girlfriend, she had been doing her best to learn more and more Spanish.

It was a small gesture he didn't know about yet but, as she laughed he could tell she understood.

"Here try this." Johnny held up a jar of salsa and opened it up as he poured some on the older womans plate. "Spicy mango, just like the old country."

"The old what..—" Simon was cut off by his sister stomping on his feet, while Cyn and Miguel tried their best to not die laughing at their now blended families antics.

"How do you like doing karate together now that you are boyfriend and girlfriend?" Yaya asked in Spanish, her eyebrows wiggling. She had always sensed something between them, and she was happy that they were now together. "I'm sure you like sparring one on one."

As the Sari girl sipped her soda, she practically choked on it as she watched the woman punch her fists together.

"I'm glad you two are together now, it's about time." Carmen spoke, sending Cyn a smile. "You were there for him in the hospital, even before that and i'm very grateful."

Cynthia and Miguel both smiled at each other and intertwined their hands.

"Well, my back is getting better now, she's been helping as much as she can and being supportive, it really helped." The Diaz boy mentioned to the hotel table, everyone smiling except Simon.

"Don't you two go getting too handsy, i'm always watching." He spoke firmly, mainly looking at his daughters boyfriend. "and I know some martial arts myself."

"Oh yeah, what do you know?" Johnny questioned, poking the food on his plate.

"It is a traditional Indonesian form of fighting called Pencak Silat a little karate too but it didn't speak to me." Simon explained, reminiscing on old times when he was taught by his father. "I lost touch with it when I was married, my ex wife didn't exactly like the thought of me doing competitions while she was using my credit cards."

Everyone at the table looked awkwardly at the table to see if Cynthia would have any reaction.

"Pencak Silat, huh? Never heard of it." Johnny shrugged as he spoke, taking a bite of his food.

"I guess everyone's exes are coming back, am I right? Ally at Christmas, and now Cynthia's mom." Miguel laughed lightly trying to ease the tension but, it only added to it.

Simon and Johnny had yet to tell Carmen and Bianca.

CYNTHIA LEANED AGAINST ONE OF DANIEL'S cars as she watched Johnny's class start. She was frustrated the two grown men had yet to set aside their differences to over power Cobra Kai but she figured at least, they were in the same vicinity. It wasn't much but, it was something.

... and she was trying this new thing called not complaining. So far, it was proving to be very hard.

"Hawk, since you're new to Eagle Fang, come on up." Johnny called out, waving his hand forward.

"Yes, sensei." The Moskowitz boy nodded his head and bowed slightly. Before anyone knew it, Johnny was bending down and sweeping his leg.

Cynthia covered her mouth to hide a laugh cause if she was honest, she was still bitter towards the boy, especially with the way he treated Demetri who she seen as her own little son friend.

"Brutal." Theo winced and shook his head as the other boy got up to his feet.

"Today we're gonna practice our front sweeps, on Hawk." Johnny called out, everyone sending each other fairly confused looks.

"Alright, I know I was a dick but, i'm sorry." Hawk said, almost sincerely as he looked at his sensei.

"Talk is cheap." The blonde man said before shaking his head. "Who's next? Antonetti, he kicked your ass and put you in the hospital, want first dibs?"

You could practically see Theo's jaw lock at the memory of being alone in the hospital after the school fight. He stepped forward, into fighting position, and than quicker than anyone was expecting him too, he swept Hawk's leg knocking him onto the ground. It felt almost rewarding to him, until he looked down on the ground where the other boy was laying.

... and Theo decided to offer him a hand.

"Nice front sweep, Antonetti but next time let him lay on the ground for a little while so he can learn to stop whining like a little bitch!" Johnny yelled in his sensei voiced as Hawk stood up to his feet.

"Yes, Sensei." Theo nodded his head and lined back up with everyone else.

Cynthia felt like a bad person for almost enjoying that Hawk was the punching bag for Eagle Fang for the day but, hey, she had her reasons, right?

CYNTHIA PICKED UP A FEW PIECES OF WOOD CAREFULLY, making sure not to get any cuts. It was the next day now, and since practice had yet to start going well, the students decided to work on a project that might bring them all together. Well, more like Hawk decided, and everyone else agreed it was a really good idea.

The Sari girl had no clue how to build an Okinawan sparring deck but, she would do whatever she could to help.

"Hey, hermosa." Miguel spoke as he walked up to his girlfriend with a smile. "How are you feeling?"

"About this wood? Or life in general?" Cynthia asked dryly, raising a brow before she looked him in his eyes and cracked a smile. "I'm fine."

One thing about your best friend turning into your boyfriend? They know when you are lying.

"You can tell me the truth, I know there is a lot going on right now and I just want to know you are okay." Miguel leaned forward and pressed a kiss against the girls forehead. "I'm always here."

"I know you are." Cyn smiled and nodded her head. "If i'm honest, even though there's all this karate drama, I can't think about anything but my mom. I always thought my dad was the bad guy but what did he do wrong, really? He worked hard for us, and got drunk a couple times but he never hit us, or cheated on her, and he sure as hell never.. never left without coming back."

"Maybe all you can do is hear her out? I mean, I don't understand how anyone would willingly leave you but, maybe she had a good reason?" The Diaz boy was trying to look on the bright side but, from what little he knew about Penelope, she seemed to be an absolute piece of work.

"She's just going to tell me how her and my dad didn't love each other anymore, and how she needed space but there are plenty of divorced parents who didn't just up and leave." Cynthia walked over to the designated pile of wood and set it down lightly. "My dad left too but, not even as close to as long as her, and he always sent money and checked on me with B. Seeing my mom the other day was the only thing for a year."

"I see your point." Miguel nodded lightly. "I really screwed up by mentioning she was back in town at dinner."

"Big time." Cynthia laughed lightly and pinched her boyfriends face. "But that's why I like you, just can't stop rambling if it means you're making me comfortable."

"Guilty." The Diaz boy replied, almost blushing.

The couple interlocked hands, as Hawk watched them with a solemn expression from afar.
