New Discovery

“What are you doing, Tiara?” Her voice was high now. I looked up and my eyes stopped at the image on her bed. My eyes darted from her to the person sitting on her bed. I smirked. This was such a pleasant surprise.

My smirked grew wider. It was easy to accuse someone else when you think the skeleton in your cupboard is safely hidden. She moved in front of me trying to hide his face. I chuckled, “You realized I already see him though.”

She bit her lower lips, but didn’t move away from his front, “Why will you barge into someone else’s room without permission?”

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, “What did you tell others about me?”

“Tell who?”

I clench my fist into a ball. Was she joking with me? “You know exactly who and what I am talking about? I know you are the reason the ladies are giving me attitude. What did you say about me?”

She sighed, and then looked back at the man on her bed. I stretched my neck to look at him; he was dressed now compared to the singlet he was in when I first barged into the room. He stood up from behind her. “Ladies, I don’t think I should be listening to this conversation, if you will excuse me.”

I was right.

I was so right.

His voice was so deep that it sent vibration through my body.  I shook my head, “And where do you think you are going? Do you have the right to speak calmly right now?”

He pinched the bridge of his nose, and turned to glare at Tina. “How much do you want?”

What?

I didn’t expect that from him at all. For a moment I forget my reason for barging into Tina’s room and turned to this betrayal in front of me. “Do you think money will solve this? You wedding with my childhood friend is in a few week and you’re here sleeping with your brother-in-law fiancée.” I rolled my eyes. Thinking about it alone was already adding to my budding headache. “Do you see how toxic that sound?”

Tina moved in front of him blocking him again, “Don’t blame Fred? I approached him first.”

I focused my angry gaze on her, “And that justify his actions; I don’t see you raping him when I got in here. He was comfortable on the bed.” I paused, trying to put my words together. A lot of things seemed to flow into my head at the same time. “Do you know that you just destroyed the union of two people?”

“You wouldn’t dare?” Fred sneered.

I looked up to see his angry gaze. From the first time I had met him, he was always quiet or calm, he had always agreed to everything Fikkie said, so I never expected such thing from him. It was more surprising that the first place he had come after breakfast was Tina’s room. What could he have told Fikkie?

Fikkie.

I felt sorry for my childhood best friend who thought she was marrying the best man in her life. I was left speechless.

He moved Tina away from his front and stood directly in front of me, “Will you be the reason your childhood friend cancel a wedding that is just in a few weeks. No one needs to know about this and you’ll keep this a secret.”

I step closer to him, “Or what?”

Fikkie didn’t deserve to marry a cheat. I looked at Tina; especially someone cheating on her with her brother’s fiancée. They were soon to become family and they were cheating behind them. It proves Tina didn’t love Daniel.

Fred lowered his face directly at mine, “Will you handle the consequences? Do you know how this can affect Fikkie mentally?”

I closed my eyes, imagining how happy she had been from the day she called me to inform me she was getting married. It will break her to find this out.

“When you knew that? Why did you? Why did you do this?”

He was about to say something when the bell rang. We all panicked. I moved away from the door, Fred did too, and Tina took deep breaths. “I’ll check.”

He took deep breaths, suddenly rubbing his palm on his head. I bit my lower lips. I didn’t mean to put myself in this sort of problem. My mind went to Fikkie.

I heard Tina mumbling, and then she closed the door. We waited for her to give a report of whatever happened.

She pointed at the door, “One of the ladies came to tell me that they are ready for the outing.”

I looked at Fred, and sighed. “For now, I will keep this a secret. I can’t let Fikkie be suspicious.”

They both stared at me as I left the room.

Honestly speaking, the last thing I wanted was to go out, but I couldn’t let others be suspicious of whatever was happening, and I can’t bail out of the outing. I needed to go. I had come into Tina’s room boldly, but I had to sneak out of her room to avoid anyone seeing me. I wasn’t interested in how Fred had sneaked out, but I was curious about what he was going to say before the person came to knock.

Was he trying to justify his reason for cheating on Fikayo? I don’t think there was anything that could justify that.

I spent lesser time getting dressed than I had intended. Last last, I had to put on a wig as there wasn’t enough time for me to style my hair again, but I had gone with a simple make-up of powder and lip-gloss. My mind was split into two that I could barely think of going on full make up.

When I got downstairs, almost everyone was there. Most surprising, Tina was there standing beside Daniel – it seemed they had resolved whatever was going between them or her conscience made her act that way. I greeted everyone as we waited for the couple.

“Are you feeling okay?” A voice whispered beside me. I turned to see Moses looking nice in a navy blue jeans and white shirt.

I looked towards Tina again, she was busy talking to Daniel. I turned back to Moses, “I’m fine.”

He tsked, “Are you sure? You look off in a way like something is weighing your mind.”

WTF!

Am I that transparent?

He just knew me in a few days, so how could he tell?

I forced a chuckle that attracted few people before they looked away from me, “It’s not that deep, Moses. Remember I had a late night, yesterday. This is the aftermath of getting drunk.”

Finally, that look of concern left his face and he smiled, “So, you are a bad drunk.”

I shrugged, “I guess you can say that.”

Just then Fred and Fikkie came in with a wide smile on her lips. Their hands were linked together and he whispered something in her ears. I frowned at him. He’s such a playboy.

“Sorry everyone. Fred was just telling me that since we are going late already, there’s nothing bad in spending the night out. We can do something like a camp out.”

I frowned. Was he serious? I’m already stressed about going out; there was no way I was doing camp out. “But we’re not prepared for anything camping.”

“I know. We are not going camping, it was just an idea. Anyways let’s move.”

Most of them got into their car, and I stood there wondering who was going to give me a lift. I didn’t want to go with the happy couple. I didn’t want to follow Daniel either. As I stood there waiting, Moses tugged my dress sleeve, “Come with me.”

I sighed. Thank God I have Moses here.

As I was about following him, someone else dragged my sleeve, “Do you really think I’ll let you follow him?”

Every paused and stared at the three of us.

I groaned. The day couldn’t get any worse.
