Madness part 2
Tiara’s P.O.V
The loud banging on my door was a direct contrast to the peace I had come to identify with this hotel. Whoever was at the door didn’t have a care in the world that there was a bell beside the door that he or she could have easily pressed.
Inwardly cursing whoever it was, I moved towards the door and opened it.
I frowned at a dishevelled Daniel at my door. When he had left my room in anger, I hadn’t expected him to come back banging on it like a crazy man. His hand disappeared into his hair, and before I could ask what the problem was, he started dragging me towards the opposite direction.
I looked around to see if anyone was there, “Are you alright? Why are you dragging me? I can walk by myself.” I whispered yell.
He ignored my protest, “I need you to come with me.”
The urgency in his voice kept me quiet immediately. I followed him as he led me into the room I remembered was Fikkie’s.
Confused, I looked up at him.
Did something happen to Fikayomi?
Ever since I left her alone with Fred in the hospital room, I haven’t seen or heard anything about her. I was too engrossed in my problem to remember hers.
Daniel didn’t say a word but pushed me towards the room before clicking the door shut behind.
Fikkie sat like a lone figure on the bed. She wore the same cloth I had seen on her, but she was pressing her phone as if it was too important to spare us a glance. She looked a bit stressed, but she was fine.
I turned to Daniel with a raised brow, “What’s the problem?”
He moved away from behind me and came to the bed close to Fikkie. “The problem is Fikayo is insane. She needs someone to talk to her.”
That seemed to get Fikkie’s attention. She dropped the phone unceremonially and turned towards her elder brother. “I am insane. I am insane because I choose to go on with my wedding. My wedding?”
Daniel nodded, “Of course. Why will you want to go on with the wedding when the groom clearly wants to call it off?”
“What!” My legs moved voluntarily towards them. Yet, instead of Fikkie, I directed my question towards Daniel. Maybe it was because he was the one who had uttered the statement. “What do you mean by the groom wants to call off the wedding?”
Daniel sighed, rubbing his head, “I won’t mince words for you. You know exactly what’s happening? But the problem now is the fact that Fikkie insists on the wedding even if Fred’s not the groom.”
“What!”
He was right. Fikkie was insane. How was she supposed to go on with the wedding when Fred didn’t want to anymore? And most importantly, why was Fred calling off the wedding?
“Why?”
My question made two heads turn towards me.
“You know why?”
I didn’t say anything more, but for a moment, Fikkie eyes widened at me, and she focused on me. “You know why, Tiara. Since when?”
Damn Daniel for selling me out.
I moved further from her, “I only found out by chance. I didn’t know at first, too.”
“Really!” she moved her brow up. Her gaze was intense, and if looks could kill, I would be six feet under right now. I frowned at Daniel.
“I had no idea it was this serious.”
“Can we just go back to the main topic? You guys shouldn’t shift the topic to something else.” Daniel interrupted, breaking the tension in the room.
Fikkie gazed at me for the last time before she finally went back to bed. “There’s nothing to talk about, I already made my decision. There is no way I am not getting married next weekend.”
The next question I asked wasn’t what I had intended to ask her, but for some reason, the words flew out of my mouth.
“And who do you intend to marry if not Fred. You can’t just pick some random guy to marry because you are heartbroken.”
She shrugged, “I’ve come to learn to accept the unacceptable, and anything is possible. I don’t need to tell you who I plan to get married to, but you can come if you want to, and if you don’t want to, don’t come.”
I shared a strange look with Daniel. Now, I understand why he looked the way he did and couldn’t utter a word. It was all overwhelming.
She picked up and started pressing her phone; a sign of dismissal at her part.
I looked at Daniel, conveying the message without opening my mouth.
‘What’s going on?’
He shrugged, ‘I have no idea.’
Not the type to accept defeat in any way, I decided to make her reason, but as I moved closer to her, she raised her head to glance at me. I flee from the room.
The banging of the door from behind was the only sound, and soon, I heard footstep behind me. I stopped at the room, and I watched Daniel follow before closing the door behind. I let my head fall on my hand.
What exactly was happening?
In the span of a week, lots of life changing event had happened.
Daniel didn’t say a word, but I knew his questions.
“I don’t think she will actually go through that. She’s just hurt and finding the way to vent her anger. Ever since I came here, I have seen how she looked at Fred. She’s loyal to him.”
Something flashed in his eyes like doubts, but I didn’t bother to explore it. If he wants me to know something, he is going to tell me.
“Fikkie isn’t the type to bluff or say something she doesn’t mean. I think we should keep an eye on her until the wedding date.” He paused before adding, “Or should we tell everyone to go home? This wedding is over.”
I frowned at him, “And you think she will be okay with you making decisions for her.”
He sighed.
“Well, in any case, we don’t need Fred’s friends over here anymore. They are not wanted.”
And before I could stop him, Daniel was out of my room.
In the next moment, I heard screams in the hallway, and everyone piled out of their room. When I got out of mine, I was more surprise to see Tobi still in the vicinity than I was to see Daniel having it out with Moses.
Everyone was eager to know what the problem was. Everyone except Fikkie, who hadn’t even bothered to come out of her room.
“Are you deaf, guy? I said the wedding is over and you need to scram. Leave.”
Daniel’s voice echoed in the hall, making everywhere impossibly silent. Even a drop of pin could be heard as everyone exchanged a glance of curiosity.
