NOT-SO-FIANCÉ Part1
Asma's P.O.V
With a happy grin, I brought my right hand forward, and I can see the brunette guy in front hesistantly shook my hand.
When his hand made contact with mine, I felt something—as if my heart bloomed, just like sunflowers bloom when it's petals make contact with sunlight see.
I was stunned—frozen for a good minute, when I saw how big my soon-to-be husband's hands are. My small hands practically disappeared inside his. I turned his hand sideways to get a better view of it. His hands are twice bigger than mine—firm and delicate, warm and veiny. The fingers are incredibly long, and the fingernails are clean, and was in good shape, as if the God himself was proud of his work—making this masterpiece.
Suddenly, the hand was pulled, and I was snapped back to the reality. I was probably to engrossed in admiring the hand that I became unaware of my sorroundings. Awkwardly, I let out a chuckle, "Oops! Sorry." Pulling the chair, I sat and locked my eyes with, and decided to be the first person to speak up, "Did anyone ever tell you how beautiful your hands are? Because holy damn! I can write a whole essay about it."
I giggled, hiding my face in between my palms. The man in front of me was beyond confused at my behavior—which was clearly evident on his gorgeous face. I placed both of my elbows on the table, my head resting in between my palms, while looking at him through my thick lashes. "Oh boy! You should be flaunted in museum because of how pulchritudinous you are. You're a breathing, but breathtaking art."
Taeyong's face was puzzled. He said nothing, but raised one his eyebrows, and was fidgeting his fingers. I locked my eyes with his brown ones, "The colour of your orbs are like mud pool—the one's that looks like chocolate pool after rainy days, which makes me wanna roll down and get dirty."
Taeyong's eyes widened, his breath hitched, and he coughed lightly. I scratched the back of my neck, "Opps lol. Did I say too much? Hehe"
Another cough sound cleaved through my ear drum, and my head automatically tilted towards it's direction. My eyebrows furrowed, when I saw a woman sitting near Taeyong. I waved and smiled at her, "Hello, I didn't notice your presence here pretty lady. Too busy admiring the man infront of me."
I looked at Taeyong with confusion, "I thought you're the only child of your family. I didn't knew you have a sister? Why did you bring her here?"
"We're lovers," the woman replied.
I cringed, and felt disgusted at the thought, "Ew! Astagfirullah, la hawla Wala kuwata illah billah. What the—What in the incest fuckery shit is this?"
"What?" Both, Taeyong and the woman asked in unison, first looking at each other, then looking at me.
I looked only at Taeyong, "Dude you're cute, but incest is fucking gross, and ewww having sex will result only giving birth to retarded babies." I cringed, while explaining, and I almost fell a bike forming in my throat.
Taeyong has fearful expression, "What are you saying? OhGod! We're not siblings, but yeah this woman right here.." He paused, and looked at the woman , "...is my girlfriend."
I exhaled a heavy sigh, and looked at other direction, "Waiter, can I have a bottle of cool water? Please."
I looked at woman, then at the man infront of me, "Wow you have a nice voice, did anyone ever said how deep your voice is?"
He replied with a small smile. "Umm..yeah I get that a lot." At the same time, a bottle of water was placed on the table. Without wasting a second, I removed the bottle cap and chugged down every drop of water. I placed the empty bottle on the table, and let out a small burp.
Stretching my neck—left, right and backwards, making bone cracking sounds, I regained my posture. Tucking a few loose strands of hair behind my ear , I gazed at the man infront of me, ignoring the woman—his girlfriend.
"Kim Taeyong, I am be—"
"It's Taehyung. Kim Taehyung."
I stopped for a second, "What did I say then?"
"You called me Taeyong."
"Psst no, you heard it wrong." I said chucking, and mentally scolding my Mother for telling me the wrong name. "That's not point here. As I was saying...What in the fucking hell is going on?" I said in a calm voice, but anytime I would go berserk.
Taeyong—I mean Taehyung looked at his girlfriend before sighing. He then gave me soft look, "I know you're really confused but before that let me say about my gir—"
"The lady can introduce herself," I cut him off, my voice with a hint of harshness. I then looked at Taehyung's girlfriend, who has shocked expression. She cleared her throat, and spoke up, "I'm Park Areum, Taehyung's girlfriend."
"Ok? Not that type of introduction I needed to hear, but whatever. Umm what do you do?" I asked. Anger flared through every single piece of my body, and it was not even her fault. "I'm mean you're studying or working?"
"Currently studying—ambition is to be doctor." She answers, confidence radiated in her words.
"Hmm interesting. Good." I scratched my nape, completely uninterested to know any more. "Let's get straight to the point. You know why I'm here?"
Areum nodded and answers, "To meet Taehyung."
"And you know why?" I questioned, to which she nodded, again. "I wanted to meet my future husband, not anyone else—specifically not you."
"I can sense you're slightly upset but—" Taehyung breaks in between our mild conversation.
"No shit Sherlock." I said, my head lowered while rolling my eyes, before looking up again, gaining both of us female's attention.
With a softened expression, Taehyung's eyes locked with mine, "Making you upset was not my intention..but it's better to know the truth then living in a blissful lie."
Without uttering a word, I just stared blankly at him. My mind was filled with pessimistic questions and thoughts. Taehyung continues, "I think you already have the knowledge about my family's company—which iss on the verge of shrinkage. The only way to remove the damages was to merge both of our parent's companies."
I shut my eyes, allowing an sense of unusual relaxation to wash over my body. The anger and unknown jealousy was taking an unexpected toll on me, so I have to calm myself down. "Taehyung, your father is not the first person that wanted both my father's and their company together...but you're the first got the approval and was also asked for the hand for marriage."
"Yeah see, don't you get the point?'
"What point?" I asked, confused.
"That the reason I accepted this marriage even though I had a girlfriend is because it can benefit my father's company not because I wanted to marry you." Taehyung explains, but his choice of words made my heart wrenched.
I sigh, "But I wanted to marry you." My voice was very low.
"You can't base a marriage off with one-sided attraction. Marriage is a commitment between two people where both the partners reciprocate the feelings they have for eachother."
I huffed and scoffed in annoyance, and glared at Taehyung, "Ok let's not reciprocate each others feelings because this marriage is not happening. Bye." I got up from my seat, and took my Gucci bag over my shoulder. With that, I turned to the other side, and made my way to the door stealthily. The cackling sounds of my heels colliding against the cold and solid floor, echoed throghout the room.
"Wait!" Taehyung calls me from behind. "Please! Listen!"
Ignoring the voice, my legs just pushed itself forward. Suddenly I felt left arm being grabbed, and my right hand made contact with the the doorknob. I tilted my head in the direction of the grabber. My eyes involuntarily rolled in annoyance when the person's was in my vision.
Taehyung's lips trembling, still not leaving my arm, "Please! Don't be mad."
"Why should I be mad? I'm not mad." I snapped, "Aren't you the person that didn't want to marry me?"
"Yes I said that."
"Leave my arm alone will you?" Taehyung immediately left my arm, and straightened his posture. I looked at him with confusion, "Then why you came back? I made things easier for you."
"You don't understand, I have to marry you regardless, whether I like it or not."
"Oh! Please, I don't want to marry someone who doesn't love me or most importantly with someone who has incorrigible lust towards my father's money."
"Look I..." Taehyung sighs, running his delicate fingers across his shiny dark brown hair. I don't want admit but the sight was such a blessing to my eyes. It's as if everything was going slow motion, when my carefully observed and examined his body features and his actions.
When Taehyung's shaky darks eyes met mine, I averted mine. Crossing my arms, I tapped my right foot constantly on the floor. Cocking my eyebrows I asked in annoyance, "Is there is something else you wanted to say, Mr Kim?"
Taehyung didn't say anything for a moment, just kept looking down at his leathered shoes. "Can we just sit down and talk about this, please?"
I sigh, "Okay." With that both of us walked towards the table, where Taehyung's girlfriend was sitting.
----
Ten minutes have been passed, none of three uttered a single word. I just stared, with my arms crossed at the sight behind the crystal clear glass. I could from side eye glance, the unwelcomed couple was seated with complete awkwardness. They both were just staring at me, waiting for me to talk, but unable to utter a word because of my grumpiness.
With a prolonged sigh, I spoke but not returning my gaze towards them, "Taehyung...do you even know who I am?"
"Yeah, ofcourse. You're the step-daughter of Mr Lee."
"I mean my name?"
Silence is what I received as an answer to my question— which was something I didn't expect. Both of them looked at each other before looking down in shame. My heart and pride fully offended, "Was I really that unimportant and unworthy to you? That you didn't bother to know my name." My voice slightly trembling, and my eyes slowly with tears, and I wished it goes unnoticed by them. The tears were at rim of overflowing, but I supressed it by flashing a smile. Faking my smile was something I mastered at solicitously for the sake of my pride.
Letting out an awkward laugh, I just looked around, here and there. My eyes fell on table of four guys who was looking at our direction. "Nice hat dude." I commented, winking at one the guys. All of them gave thumbs up to me and returned back to their their own world.
I looked back at Taehyung and smiled, "Things never turn as we expected. I mean 'expect the unexpected', today I got an mind-blowing experience of it. Wow." I clapped my had slowly and sarcastically.
"Look, I know you're really and extremely upset of everytime and I understand that."
"Bitch please!" I snapped, "You don't understand what I feel or what is going through my mind."
"Neither would you understand how I or Areum feel about this marriage. You won't understand my life took an unexpected turn to where even my girlfriend made me agreed to this marriage."
"Eh," I mumbled, confused. Taehyung continues, "I'm doing this only for the sake of my father. You knew about it. Can you please help me—my father, please?"
"As I said before, your father is not the first person to ask for help, and yes I knew about it. But I also knew—or I thought that you're single." I paused, looked at Areum for brief second. I continued, "I didn't agree to marry you so that I can help your Father. Because your father or his company is not my problem, it's something I give absolutely zero fucks about."
I saw Taehyung gulped after hearing my words. "Let's just stop for a while. Can I ask you something?"
"Of course! Why not? Are you interested knowing about your fiancée?" My voice was unamused, and full of mockery
Taehyung sighs, "Look at me." I do as he say, "Imagine you're married. What will you do, if you find out your husband has an affair with another woman behind your back?"
Taehyung's words triggered me, and I felt sene of unpredictable fear and jealousy wash over me. Clenching my fist, I slammed on the table, "I will chop off his dick."
The whole restaurant was enveloped with a pindrop silence. I again looked back at the table with four guys, who were looking at our direction—probably because of my stupidity. I quickly apologized, "Sorry to disturb you guys, again. By the way all of you're cute, especially that dude with the hat."
Exhaling few breathes, I looked at Taehyung. He said, "I don't want to break your heart in that way. That's why I brought Areum, and told you about her."
This time I looked at Areum, "I'm really sorry the mess, but why did you think I would allow something like that."
Both, Areum and Taehyung's gasps at my harshness. Rolling my eyes, I spoke, "Sorry to be vilian in your love story, but I won't allow it. I do not prefer my man has another woman, while I'm alive."
Areum pleaded with her quivering lips, "Please, don't do this. I love him. I—"
"Sorry pretty lady, I can't accept it. Period."
My heart flinched when I felt a pair of large hands wrapped around mine. It was none other than Taehyung, who's eyes were filled with tears, "Please I know you're upset, anyone would be. But if you were in my shoes you would understand. I wish I had other ways.." He sighs, "But this is my only way. I promise it's only a year."
My eyebrows creased, "After that what?"
"After that we will get divorced, and sperate our ways." Taehyung says with a sincere smile. I felt like my heart shattered, and crumbled into dust.
Standing up, ruffling my hair I said, "Lemme just go to restroom. I will be back with an answer, I promise."
The couple nodded in unison with big smiles plastered on their faces. Grabbing my bag, I made my to the washroom. My fiancé is not even mine. He is a not-so-fiancé.
