29. Can't Leave Em Alone
Why did she bring her daughter out on the town with her?
Why couldn't she be normal for a day and enjoy some girl time with her baby girl? Paparazzi was relentless in L.A. She thought she would go shopping down in Beverly Hills with Autumn because all the celebrities shopped there and were left alone. Sure there were occasional randoms snapping pictures, but even that was not a nuisance.
She always said fans were her bread and butter so she was fine with that.
It was the paparazzi hounding her. They would not let her be. She held Autumn's hand as she went from one store to the next, Alvin and Vincent were near keeping the paps that followed them at bay, but it was still annoying.
"Mommy, do they hate us?" Autumn asked about the paparazzi yelling at them. They were calling her name as well as Autumn as if a five-year-old had anything to say to them.
"No, they love us, that's why they are following us. But...ignore them."
Autumn, who wore her two pigtails and Barbie pink sunglasses, waved and posed for the cameras, hamming it up for them.
What was she supposed to do, yank her child away, even though she did not want her little girl's picture plastered everywhere? All she wanted was a Mommy-daughter day.
She signaled for Alvin and Vincent to control the media and clear a path to their car.
"Natika, where is the new boyfriend?"
"Tika, is that why you're spending time in St. Louis?"
"Tika, what about you and Tunda? Is it really over?"
"Autumn, pose for us again!" This person moved dangerously close to her daughter and Autumn even screamed.
They were getting off-limits now, Autumn did not choose this life. Being hounded by the media at age five simply because of her was not acceptable. She was not like the Kardashians, she did not live to throw her child all over the media.
"Get the fuck away from my child, assholes. Give us some space." She did not try and push the photographer with the long lens camera, but her hand touched it and maybe gave it a little shove.
No, she for sure pushed the person trying to harass her daughter.
"Back the fuck up!" Alvin yelled out to them, holding out his arm, and pushing them away while they made it to the waiting limousine. All the while, they were recorded and pictures were taken. This was just great!
Once Autumn and she were inside the limo she felt safe again. Sheila was already sitting there in the limo.
"Told you to shop online." Sheila had her laptop on her lap. "Going to the stores with these vultures is not a good look."
"Or just take my daughter shopping back at home. We don't get all of this in the Lou."
"Mommy bought me a new dress," Autumn said to Sheila, then looked over at her laptop. "Are you playing a game? I wanna play Roblox."
"Girl, if you don't stop talking about that game." She fastened her daughter's seatbelt, even though she needed to be sitting in a booster seat. "We're going back to St. Louis tonight so you can breathe some fresh air and touch grass."
She looked down at her phone and saw several missed texts. From her ex, Tunda.
What did he want now? Oh yeah, he saw that she moved on and was happy with someone else. One of the reasons she hung on to the relationship with him was because he had her brainwashed. She truly thought there was no other guy out there for her, and he was the best she could do. She had been so broken from her previous relationships, he saw that, took advantage, and broke her more.
There was something about a bad boy she liked. It was why she was attracted to a long list of bad boys who treated her badly. What was wrong with her that she could not leave them alone? Of all the exes, Tunda may have been the worst.
He would lie to her. He would cheat on her. He would belittle her and tell her no one else wanted her. When she was not in the mood for sex and he demanded it, she would just lay there and take it. The only thing he did not do was lay hands on her but he'd done every other abuse to her.
What did this fool want?
Aye guh, call yo boy
C u in LA, holla at me
Wanta fuck? I know u miss this dick
Miss u chicky Tiki
Back when things were good with them, he had a nickname he called her, Chicky Tiki, or just Chicky sometimes. She loved it then, but now she hated it.
There were more texts from him, some of them pornographic. Of course there was a dick pic. And maybe she glanced at it too long before she deleted it. She could not help it she was horny as hell and in deep need of getting bent like a pretzel.
There also was a message from her social media manager, Leticia. She was already getting reports that she snapped at the paparazzi. What? It literally happened five minutes ago. But of course videos were uploaded and that's all Leticia did all day was follow gossip blogs and media outlets.
"Call Leticia," she said to her phone.
Soon as Leticia picked up the phone she was in a mood. "What the hell Tika? Why would you have Autumn out there like that? This is not going to look good. You're America's sweetheart, the good girl, now you're looking like the rude girl."
"I am that when it comes to my little girl!" she snapped back. She wanted to say more, curse her out, but her daughter was sitting there on her tablet, headphones not on. She snapped at Sheila to get her head out of her phone. "Get Autumn's headphones on her."
Leticia dug into her bag and grabbed the headphones and helped Autumn put them on.
"Leticia, I don't give a fuck what you say, no one tries to attack my child. I didn't do enough. A little shove. Let them come after me."
"I'm trying to do damage control now. One of your good girl blitz, showing everyone all the good you do. You were protecting your daughter. It's on the video."
She rolled her eyes and sighed. She hated this side of fame.
Once she was done with Leticia, she hung up, and another call was coming through. What the hell? This time it was worse than her ex, it was her ex/baby daddy.
