16. Seven Whole Days
Every night she enjoyed her conversations with Rico. They were the highlight of her day. With him, she could laugh and relax, and unwind from her day. He would get deep and dig into her mind sometimes, it was scary. But she liked it.
She went down the whole list of her relationships with him.
"I was seventeen with stars in my eyes when I met Daren. He was blowing up when I was first on the scene. After a few run-ins with him, not even dating him, everyone put us together so we kind of became a couple. By accident."
"What a sec...that makes no sense. I was young when you two were together, but I saw the two of you everywhere."
"Yes, because we were together. And I cared for him a lot, but it was more like a Hollywood couple situation."
There was more to the story but she was not going to go into it with him. Daren had mental issues, was abusive, cheated on her, and ultimately he needed more than she could give him. She spent over a year with him and was way too young to understand real love. But she thought loved him, even after he hit her the first time.
She told herself it was her fault because she had nagged him.
Then he hit her again because he was jealous other guys looked at her. Then he hit her again for no reason, just because. It finally took her telling Orlando, him taking pictures and then leaking it to the media.
It was the talk of the world for months. Daren's singing career after their breakup suffered once they found out he was physically abusive to her. No one wanted to work with him. Daren was the big man with several endorsement deals, movie offers and a big tour scheduled. Any deal he had they dropped him. The movie offers were taken away. The tour was canceled due to low ticket sales.
His fans turned away from him. He started drinking more and getting into drugs. She did not know what he was up to now. But that was none of her business, she was done with him and never wanted to see him again. She vowed then and there no man would ever lay hands on her again.
"Then there was Jamar Parker. Biggest mistake. He was way too old for me at the time. I was eighteen, he was twenty-seven. I was too hot in the britches for anyone to tell me anything. My parents hated him. All my friends hated him. All he did was drink, smoke, and party. But he was a hotshot rapper, rich and into me. He was trying to show me the ropes of the business. Good thing that it only lasted six months, but it was a very public breakup."
She blew out a sigh at how the media was focused on her about the breakup. Said she was too young and immature for somebody who thought partying was his job. If she was out partying. She was a teen out of control. But when he did the same thing, but ten times that, he was just being a man.
"Then of course Win, Autumn's father. I don't even want to talk about him. He's not even her life that much. Sometimes for a photo op or something. We don't need his ass anyway."
There was a lot more to his story but she did not want to scare Rico off. She had it bad for the rapper Win, whose government name was actually Winter Storm. His parents were on crack for that. Maybe she was smoking too because she let him name their daughter Autumn.
She met Win when she was nineteen. He was twenty-one. She was at a club in New York partying with Orlando and some other friends in the industry. She typically hated New York, she found the people rude. The club scene was the worst because every place was so crowded. But she could get the VIP treatment because of who she was.
She was doing her thing, dancing around and letting it all hang out. Literally. She was dressed in a skimpy bra showing her barely there breasts, and tiny shorts that at least made her round ass look good. She was not even slim thick, just slim with a nice booty and she liked to show it off. Then she felt eyes on her from across the club.
Some guy smoking a fat Philly, with dark shades on inside of the club. All eyes were on her anyway as she danced, so she decided to give him a show. When a nice, freaky song came on, she twerked a little harder, letting him see her ass cheeks work. She seduced him from across the room, even with others surrounding her.
"Girlll, you were popping that lil ass," Orlando said to her.
"I am not leaving the club alone, better believe that."
Sure enough, her mystery man came over and she recognized him immediately. Win was a new artist, one album out that was doing numbers. Not only that, he had to be the sexiest rapper out at the moment. He wore his hair in long locs down his back. His skin was cocoa-colored and smooth. He was tall, a little over six feet tall. Nice body too.
He rapped about trap houses, drinking and smoking. He was known for frequenting strip clubs and he already had two baby mommas.
She should have known better.
But she didn't care. She went home with him that night and she learned all the freaky things from him. She fell in love instantly. It did not take much. He was so sweet in the beginning. He spoiled her rotten. Trips around the world. Diamonds and any jewelry she ever asked for. Sex in the club. Sex in the car, plane, or limo. Sex backstage in a dressing room. Sex in the cramped stall of a five-star restaurant bathroom.
So it should have been no surprise when she ended up pregnant six months into their relationship. She had not turned twenty yet, her career was getting started, and now this. She always wanted kids, but she thought later, not so young. She did not want to wait till she was old like her parents either. She hid the pregnancy even from Win for as long as she could.
He was happy about it. Then she told her parents. They were happy about it.
She continued to hide the pregnancy, even while she was on a tour. Of course, the media and the fans were suspecting when she stopped wearing her little bitty everything and baring her toned stomach. She finally had to reveal it when she was in her seventh month. That's when the madness started.
Women came out of the woodwork saying they were sleeping with Win as well. One other woman claimed to be pregnant by him as well. He denied it and she believed him.
Turns out, it was not his, but that did not matter, there was another woman who recently had a baby that demanded a blood test, and it was his. He was having sex with her right after they met and before he got her pregnant.
Still, she stayed by his side.
Until she was giving birth to their daughter, he was nowhere around, and then some skank groupie released a video that they were together while she was in delivery.
She was done after that. And now, he was not much in Autumn or her life.
"Then there was Spitfire." Saying his name made her tense up.
"It's okay, you don't have to talk about him."
She was assuming he already knew about that embarrassing relationship. Spitfire was sexually perverted. A big dick and knew how to use it, and she was sprung from one taste of it. He liked to have sex parties and orgies. A record producer who worked with everyone's favorite rapper. Only the top echelon were invited to his private parties. Even though she did not get an invite, she knew about them.
He liked them young, and she was twenty-one, and too old for him, but she looked seventeen still. He was thirty. She had a baby she was trying to take care of. She wanted some security and thought an older man more established in his career was that.
But he and Win did not mix.
Plus he was married.
Yes, she was dumb.
"And then Tunda." He was the one, out of all her exes she thought there was a future with. They were engaged, secretly, and no one else knew. But cheaters never win, and once she had real proof, she was gone. "I feel like it was all a show to him. He did all the right things at the start and then it went downhill fast, but I still hung in there despite the red flags he was passing out to me. Love...it's a crazy drug."
"I had a similar relationship," he stated, but she did not know how he would be able to top any of her past relationships. "Everything started great and she was unlike any other girl up to that point it was over. And I fell hard. I mean, I was ready to change my world for her. Everything about myself. Become someone else just to make her happy."
"Oh wow. What happened?"
He paused for a bit and she knew it was deep and he was still hurt. Why did falling in love and getting your heart broken have a lasting effect? Each one of her exes did a little bit more to turn her away from love. Maybe Rico was all messed up the same way.
"She cheated," was all he said.
"See, girls can be the ones too. Sorry that happened to you. What else? How many times have you had your heart broken?"
"That's it really."
"The one relationship? When was that one over?"
"Two years ago."
"And since then, you've just been playing the field? Wilding out and freaking out, huh? I understand."
"No, not any of that. I've been focusing on playing. Getting better and making it into the Majors. Now I want to stay on top of my game."
Was this man saying he had not been with another woman in two years? No relations at all? No way did she believe that. He was saying this to try to make himself look good. She had gone without three months and she was horny as all get out. She humped on Mr. Magic Mic every other day to catch an O.
What was he doing? Probably jerking off every night. She smiled and wondered if he thought of her or listened to her sexy music when he did so.
"Rico, please tell me you have not gone sexless this long!"
"I'm saying that."
"Rico! Wow! Okay, okay." Maybe that was why he turned her down so easily. So far their conversations on the phone were always sweet and safe.
Still, she was not going to let her guard down. Her trust in men was shattered.
