Chapter 3

"Is she alive?"
"Hurry! Get her to the bed."
"She's freezing."
"Look, that... that mark!"
"It cannot be."
"Did you foresee this Albus?"
"Albus!"

She had no idea how long it had been. How long she'd been asleep, slowly she could feel herself waking up. She inhaled sharply and sat up, her eyes darting around in panic as she tried to yank off the covers and stumble out of the bed.
"No, no dear! You need to stay still." A voice said, she glanced up, and reached her hand out to the brunette haired woman in front of her but no sound came out of her mouth. The woman bent down and wrapped her hands around her and pulled her up and helped her back into the bed.
"You are very weak, you've been asleep for nearly two weeks now." She explained as she sat down in the chair next to her. She blinked and glanced around and tried to speak again but there was no sound.
"I bet you have a lot of questions, don't worry we will answer them but for now we want you to relax and just try to get better." The woman with brunette hair said softly, her smile warm and friendly.
"If it hadn't been for Carter I don't know if we would have been able to save you in time. You were very lucky." She added, she leant forward and took her hand and squeezed it gently. "But it will all be okay now." She smiled before leaning back.

"Petunia is she awake?" A voice from across the room asked, the brunette woman turned slightly and she followed her gaze.
"She is, but go easy on her please." Petunia said softly, the bearded man walked forward and smiled at her.
"Hello there, how are you feeling?" He said getting closer. She opened her mouth, and still nothing.
"Albus, she's still rather weak." Petunia said, the man nodded thoughtfully and he leans closer and placed his hand against her forehead before bringing both of his hands to her neck and pressing gently. She flinched away and Albus pulled back.
"How interesting. My dear, you should have your voice back soon." He explained, she lowered her gaze and he continued talking "you are currently at Hogwarts. We are happy for you to recover here." He began to walk away and Petunia stood up to follow "we will bring you some food, see how you get on." He added, she shut her eyes tightly and turned to them both and with all her might forced herself to speak. It hurt, but she needed to know she just had one burning question and she desperately hoped they had an answer.
"Wh- who am I?"
Albus and Petunia stopped and turned to her slowly, her eyes became heavy and she fell back onto the pillow passing out once more.

Albus was sat in his chair. Petunia was sat opposite, as several more people hovered and paced around the room.
"She has no recollection of who she is?" A man with dark hair asked. Albus shook his hair,
"Well we can't let her go back, she'll be taken for sure." A small male said leaning against the wall. Albus nodded taking in his teachers opinions.
"She's just a child surely she can stay?" Petunia said, another older woman shook her head.
"We don't even know anything about her, not her name, age... all we have is that mark."
A man with dark long hair sighed and folded his arms over his chest.
"McGonagall, I would keep your voice down." He said, Albus nodded.
"Does that mean she's not far behind?" Another teacher asked with glasses on.
"I'm afraid it means that we must protect the students." Albus said, Petunia stood up.
"Then what are we going to do?" She asked, "Carter you found her, did she have anything with her?"
"I would have brought her belongings with her Petunia." The man with black hair snapped back. Petunia's lips thinned and a man with brown hair in tweed stepped forward.
"There's no need for in fighting. We should make the child feel welcome. We should help her reclaim her memories and keep her safe." He said Albus nodded in agreement as the man with dark hair laughed.
"Perfect! Things can't possibly go wrong for fuck sake." He sauntered out of the room, and the other teachers began to disperse leaving McGonagall, Petunia and Albus.
"Well, it is time for the new students to be sorted into houses, maybe this will help her."
"She doesn't have a wand."
"Then Petunia should take her out tomorrow." Albus said, Petunia nodded smiling.
"Perfect, McGonagall should we go get her and join the others?" Petunia said and the two linked arms and began walking out.

"Out of the way. Thank you." Students stepped to the side as she walked through into the grand hall. She headed to her table and sat down. She flicked her hair over her shoulder as a boy with dark hair sat down next to her, smirking away.

A boy ruffled his mates hair and sat down on his table nodding his head to a girl who was laughing with her friend, she glanced at him and grinned shyly before focusing back on her friends.

Two girls were quietly sat together on their table, one was playing with her wand, blue patterns filling the space around her attracting the attention of everyone at the table all mesmerized by the patterns.

A girl bounded into the grand hall and waved at everyone before sitting down at her table. She reached behind her and pulled her hair up into a pony tail and shook her head quickly before smiling and staring up at the teachers who had arrived.

"That is enough. Settle down." Albus said, she walked in with Petunia and McGonagall. She stared around the room, she was at a school, it was lit with candles and felt very old to her. She glanced at the teachers who were sat behind a long table as Albus continued to talk to the students. The door burst open and everyone stopped to stare at the door. A brunette boy ran in panting heavily.
"Sorry! I lost track of time!" He laughed sheepishly before sitting down at his table. The teachers rolled their eyes as one chuckled and the students began to laugh until Albus cleared his throat.
"Alright new students, it is time to sort you into houses."

It was coming down to the last few and she was getting anxious. Petunia had explained to her what was going to happen during their walk over but now she was here she was nervous. She could barely speak and she had no memory of who she was. She stared around, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor. Four houses and all was fated by a hat. This was silly. Was she really awake or was her dreams so realistic she couldn't tell the difference.

"And finally..." Albus turned to her and her eyes widened slightly, she stepped forward and glanced around the room before sitting on the chair. Her body shaking slightly.
"Hmm how interesting. No preference? No, not at all. No name either." She flinched slightly, a few of the students perked up, for none of them had seen her before. A girl with dark red hair was staring at her her eyes narrowing with each passing second. The hat finished rambling and it inhaled before shouting.
"Ravenclaw!"
