Chapter 2

She ran out into the streets, the cold air harsh against her cheeks, she quickly assessed her situation and made a run down the street sticking close to the lampposts for light. She couldn't believe this was happening, it didn't seem real. Surely she was dreaming? She shook her head, her head spinning. She continued to run not fully paying any attention, as she headed towards the towns cliff. If she stopped now they would certainly catch her, but what was she going to do if they did catch up? She couldn't fight them, they weren't going to fight her one by one to give her a chance, this wasn't a movie or a book. She could hear them, she was fast but she could feel herself fatiguing. She felt tears in her eyes making her vision blurry. She turned around quickly and her heart jumped into her throat. She was trapped.

He watched her run by and frowned, he took a step forward, it couldn't have been her, could it? He took another step forward but stopped as he watched a group of creatures run by. His eyes narrowed, why were they here of all places? Something wasn't right at all. He quickly began to follow, he watched as they headed towards the cliff of the town, she'd be trapped in that direction. Without another thought he darted to the side and into the trees, the moon shining bright overhead now. He didn't have a choice, she would die otherwise.

She skidded to a halt and stared down at the water, shimmering in the moons rays. She chewed on her lip, flashes of her sister laying motionless on the ground, with that, that thing on top of her. She could hear the snarling and growling from behind her, she was out of options she had nowhere else to run. She turned around and stared at the creatures, they took a step closer, boxing her in and she took a small step back, she could hear the ocean below her and she pursed her lips together. This was supposed to be a fun night, not a night where she loses her sister. The only family she has. She felt tears in her eyes and closed her eyes to stop the tears from falling. A calm washed over her, if she were to die here, they'd be together again.

A slow applause caused her to exhale shakily but she didn't open her eyes, maybe this was a nightmare? A nightmare she needed to wake up from.
"Not the guy, he was nice." She thought to herself, thinking back to being in the pub, talking with that handsome guy, a small sigh escaping her lips "this is no time for fantasies." But his face still flickered in her mind.
"You did good little girl." The woman's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. "But not good enough." The woman from earlier walked out of the shadows and into the moonlight. "Now the chase is up." She laughed as she folded her arms over her chest. She opened her eyes, her heart pounded against her chest but not in fear, in something else, something she knew was telling her not to give up, not to die. She just needed to think. She glanced around, and the more she thought the more she realised that maybe the water was the only way to go. She was a good swimmer, but after drinking would she be able to get her bearings once she was in the water. She took another step back, her ankle hovering off the edge of the cliff. The woman's narrowed.
"Have nothing to say? How boring, I like it when the pray begs for their life." The woman sighed, she looked at the woman.
"Sorry to disappoint you." She quipped, the woman smirked suddenly her eyes brighter in the light.
"Oh she does have a tongue!" The woman laughed and everyone stepped closer.

"Get her." She ordered, however as soon as the creatures were about to jump, a wolf jumped out between her and them. Her eyes widened in surprise as the wolf snarled, the creatures took a step back. The woman tilted her head to the side and her hands lowered to her hips.
"Why is a werewolf here?" The woman snarled, her body hunching over as her hands came out slightly by her sides.
"Werewolf?" Snapping our of her confusion, she was about to make a run for it when a creature jumped at the werewolf. She watched the werewolf throw the creature at another and the woman sneered before licking her lips and running forward to join the fight.

She didn't know how long she was stood there, but she was mesmerized by the wolf , she didn't know where it came from or why it was here but it was saving her, all the noise had drowned out as she stared at him. A howl snapped her out of her trance and she turned to make a break for it, however the woman had appeared closer to her.
"You're not going anywhere." The woman reached forward and she let out a gasp as the woman's hand wrapped around her wrist. The wolf turned, hearing her, and flung a creature at the woman, she let out a startled growl and she let go of Imogen. The woman turned to the wolf however there was a small cracking sound, and Imogen glanced down. The woman stepped back her eyes widening. The ground around Imogen collapsed around her, and she dropped. Her eyes widened and her eyes met with the wolf before she could see the wolf no longer.

"No." The woman whispered, she turned her attention the wolf who was staring at the empty space next to the woman, "this is your fault." She hissed. Silence washed over the creatures, and the wolf. The woman's eyes widened in realisation "this is your fault!" She screamed, as they heard the splash. Imogen was gone.
