My heart a fortress strong and tall
Guarded by walls that will not fall

I try to keep my emotions locked away
to protect myself from potential pain.

Love for me has always been sorrow
I constantly fear a broken tomorrow.

So I build my walls higher and higher
Protecting my heart from passions fire

But in my guarded heart's isolation,
I seem to find a certain sense of elation

Yet deep down a part of me knows..
That life's beauty comes from both highs and lows

Some day I'll take a risk and let my guard down
trust that love will come around

For a life without love is incomplete
