Chapter 48
Skye placed one hand over her stomach as she walked back over to her bed to lie down. Yesterday, when she had thrown up she hadn't thought much of it, chalking it up to the shock of seeing one of her friends get shot. Today, however, the shock had worn off by now, so she no longer had anything to blame it on.
She crawled under the covers and pulled them up to her chin, closing her eyes tightly. If she was getting sick, sleep was probably the best thing for her right now.

"When can I get off this bed?" Natasha asked, looking up at Simmons.
Simmons, who was checking all of Nat's vitals, looked up. "You were just shot and had surgery yesterday. You have at least another week," she chuckled.
Natasha groaned and her head fell back on to her pillow.
"Not to fear," Simmons smiled, "I'm sure many members of the team will be stopping by to say hello."
Like magic, Clint appeared in the doorway, knocking twice. "Bad time?"
"Only if you're planning on helping me escape," Natasha sighed.
"You were just shot, I'd give you another week, at least," Clint chuckled.
Simmons' eyebrows rose and she pointed to Clint while staring at Nat. "See? He gets it."
Natasha rolled her eyes. "Fine, whatever." She turned to face her partner. "Please at least find me something to do. I've already counted every single tile in here."
Clint's eyes widened. "That's...impressive," he said as he looked around the room at all the tiles lining the walls, ceiling, and floor. "But fine," he stood up from his chair and started walking towards the door. "I'll find us something to do."
"You're a lifesaver," she grinned in reply.

"Simmons," Skye said as she walked in to the lab where Simmons was working alone, "can you do something for me?"
The scientist looked up and smiled. "Sure, Skye, what is it?"
Skye walked closer to the woman and lowered her voice so that no one else would hear them. "Can you keep a secret?"
Simmons tilted her head slightly to the side in confusion, but nodded anyway. "What's wrong?"
"Jemma, I think I'm pregnant," Skye admitted. "When we landed earlier today to let Fury know about Nat's condition, I slipped out and got a test. It was positive. I just needed to tell someone before I could think up a clever way to tell Grant about it."
Jemma's eyes widened before a large smile spread across her face. "Skye! That's wonderful!" She held her arms out and wrapped her friend in a hug.
Skye laughed and returned the hug. "Thanks."
Jemma pulled back. "Do you want an ultrasound?"
Skye raised an eyebrow. "We have an ultrasound on the Bus?"
Jemma rolled her eyes. "Of course. There are many more uses for an ultrasound machine than just for tracking a pregnancy. Especially in our line of work."
"Then, I guess it wouldn't hurt," Skye nodded as Jemma starting pulling out the machine.
"Lie down on the table real quick," Jemma ordered. She put some gel on Skye's stomach and Skye flinched. "I'm sorry, I know it's cold." She pulled out the wand and moved it around Skye's stomach. She looked on the screen and then pointed. "It's really hard to see because you're still so early, but there's your baby."
It finally hit Skye how real this was. A smile spread across her face as she watched the screen.
"By my calculations, I'd say you're about 8 or 9 weeks along. Your due date will be in late June or early July."
Skye released the deep breath she had been holding. "Wow. This is real."
Jemma chuckled at her friend's amazed state. "Yes it is. You're pregnant."
I mean, come on, I know you all saw this coming. 😂
Happy Easter to you all! 🐰🐣
