Thunder and Lightning
Blaise's eyes were staring into Addilyn's and she was reaching for his hand. Her senses tingled as she felt her desperate need to get closer. All of a sudden a deafening crack pierced the air.
Sitting upright, Addilyn realized she had been dreaming. The rain had flattened her hair and was now sliding down her back.
"Blaise - we need to get in the car. I heard thunder." Addilyn did her best to gently shake him awake. Groggily rubbing his eyes, Blaise sat up.
"Huh?"
"Come on!" Taking their soaked blankets, they both crawled into the backseat of the Lincoln. After they had readjusted themselves to the best of their ability, the only sounds was the rain and their breathing.
"Hey Blaise?"
"What's up?"
"What happened to your mother?"
"My mom had the ability to travel through time like you. She resented her power though, she would have been much happier without it. That is until she met my father. You see, my mom was born in the year 1798. She met him by chance when she was traveling."
"They fell for each other, didn't they?"
"Yes. But they couldn't be together. Not forever."
"But why not?"
"Because... a traveler must always return to their own time. She was able to stay for two years before being dragged back. Addilyn, eventually you will have to go back to 1943 for good." Blaise bit his lip, unsure of what to say next.
"Why didn't anyone tell me this before?"
"I should've told you and I'm sorry. I just wasn't quite sure how to do it." The rain continued to thrash angrily outside. Peering out the window, Addilyn watched the purple lightning streaks.
"This is some storm, huh."
"Yeah."
