Triple Threat

Chapter 1-

Another ordinary day it was. Everyone started their normal routine for a Saturday morning. The lady of #8 Brooke Road was up at the crack of dawn to immediately tend to her prize-winning tulips, the family of #5 was eating their usual breakfast at 8:00 am, and the inhabitants of #3 and #6 were still dreaming about the many joys of retirement.

No one, especially the cranky old man living in #11 ('How lovely ordinary it is today! Agatha, did you hear me!?! Well turn the telly down then!), would say that today would be anything but ordinary. That is to say, everyone except the happy family living in #7 Brooke Road.

You see, there was a rather odd girl living in the little townhouse that seemed bigger on the inside. With her T-shirts and black converse, she seemed like any other average girl. She woke up at 7:00 am on school days, and went to bed at 9:45 pm, after reading of course. With her perfect grades, love of books, and outfits that often included ties, many people often stereotype her as the classic 'nerd'.

You wouldn't be wrong, of course. She loved reading and writing, and had Wattpad instead of Instagram, unlike most people her age. She also loved Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who more than the average eleven year old. But what really fueled her nerd-power was her main fandom: Harry Potter. She was the ultimate fanatic, sprouting references in every other sentence. But more on that topic later.

Although she was a natural Ravenclaw, the people who knew her would call her 'The Girl Who Defied Stereotypes'. Strange name for a normal girl, right? You'd be correct, but she was no ordinary girl. You could almost say she was a 'Triple Threat'. Funny enough, her family and friends gave her that nickname because of her last name. They had no idea how true it really was.

The people who labelled her as a 'nerd' quickly changed their minds when they saw her play sports. Talented in every sport imaginable, she was especially good at soccer. She was a rubbish shooter, but Sky was a short and speedy player. She could always predict where the soccer ball would land, and when. She was also decent at goalie in hockey, able to swiftly catch the small puck before it entered in the net.

So she was a jock and a nerd? Yes, but no. Like I mentioned earlier, she was a 'Triple Threat'. So what was her third persona? Well, only the people closest to her knew about her secret personality.

Why? Let's just say, it would ruin her perfect reputation at school if the teachers found out about her more rebellious side.

Basically, she was a born prankster. Sky pulled pranks left and right, up and down. Her combined athletic and academic abilities made her a person you didn't want to have a fight with. Her mischievous and rebellious personality was the cherry on top of the already intimidating cake. Her work was always left anonymous, and she took great care of making sure that she didn't leave any clues behind.

The teachers at her school have been searching for the culprit for years, but could never find out who was responsible for painting the school office fully pink, and making Mrs. Gusta's wig light on fire. Many of her other anonymous work included an amazing spraypainted mural of a ghost-like girl in one of the girls' bathroom stalls, and a rather odd painting of a ghost going through a chalkboard in the History classroom.

Many people tried persuading the faculty that the school prankster was Skyler Threat, but the teachers didn't believe a word of their so-called nonsense. Her flawlessly clean record was clean for a reason, after all.

So who was Skyler Threat? An intelligent nerd? An atletic jock? A mischievous prankster? Well, why couldn't she be all three? She believed that stereotypes were useless. If you want to know what a person is like, take the effort to read beyond the labels.

So that was her, or at least that was the way Sky and other people knew her. Oh, if they only knew who and what she really was. But that's what this book is about, is it not? So let's continue on to where we left off, on a beautiful Saturday morning...

Dear Journal,

I'm SOOOO sorry for my messy writing, but guess what day it is! I'm not gonna pause or anything, because it's not like you're gonna answer... ANYWAY, it's July 30th! Also known as Neville's birthday! And the day before Harry and J.K.Rowling's birthday! It's also MY 11th birthday!!! Lol, just kidding. I turned eleven a few months ago since my real birthday was way back in April (of course, you already that).

But I BEGGED my parents to celebrate it today because I didn't think it would be fair to celebrate my birthday on Fred's... okay, I'll stop myself now before I start crying again. Besides, I'll be honouring Neville! Personally, I don't think he got enough credit in the series...

So Matt's coming over, and I can't wait! We haven't seen eachother for TWO. WHOLE. MONTHS. He just HAD to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios without me! Loathsome evil little cockroach. If Pottermore didn't sort him into Gryffindor, I would think he was a Slytherin (because of their slyness, not because they're occasionally evil).

Anyway, gotta go now! I have to set up the decorations and stuff before the muggles and Potterheads come! I gotta say, my parents went all out this year. You would've thought that I'd never have a birthday again! Okay, I siriusly have to go now before all the bacon is gone! I'll update you soon, promise! Bye! Mischief Managed!
-Sky ⚡

After signing her latest entry off with her signature lightning bolt, she quickly closed her journal. It was a simple, bound leather notebook dyed black. The leather was fake (Sky was absolutely afronted by the fact of skinning animals for human needs. She would've been a vegetarian if it wasn't for her terrible love of bacon.), but had the same texture and feeling as the real deal. She quickly slipped it underneath her mattress, and ran off to the mirror to examine how bad her bed-head was.

Her black hair was, as usual, a mess. Wavy locks of her choppy ebony hair stuck up in odd angles, particularly at the back. She didn't really mind if it was casually messy though, because it gave her another connection to Harry Potter. Her whole look was pretty much based off of her favourite book series. Her round sunglasses and her trademark T-shirts were just a few. If you looked into her closet, you'd see a large assortment of blue/silver ties (she liked the movie version more than the book version of blue and bronze), grey vests, skirts, and pants, and even a few full-length wizard/witch robes with the Ravenclaw crest expertly stitched on.

She took out a large brush, and tamed as much of her hair as she could. When it wasn't frizzy or oily anymore, she smiled proudly at her reflection. She was already dressed in her Potterhead outfit for the party. It was a simple, collared grey T-shirt with a blue and silver striped tie, underneath a mini black blazer and black skinny jeans. She liked taking the Hogwarts uniform and modernizing it with her personal touches.

She brushed her sidebangs aside, and ran her hand through her hair one last time before going downstairs. She slid to the kitchen, only to find a single strip of bacon left on a plate. Her eye twitched. She grumbled about bacon as she sat down. When she was just about to grab the pitifully small bacon strip, a hand came out of nowhere, and snatched it off of the ceramic plate. Sky quickly swiveled around in her chair, ready to have a go at the culprit. When she saw who the bacon thief was, her glare evaporated as her eyes lit up.

"Matt!" She exclaimed, giving her older cousin a big hug. He laughed as he gave her a few pats on the head. She pulled away, still grinning. "What are you doing here so early?"

He rolled his eyes. "Because I wanted to eat your bacon." He said sarcastically. Sky glared at him. He chuckled. "It's because it's your birthday! And you're turning eleven! I'm here to personally witness you NOT get your Hogwarts letter!" He smirked.

Sky glared playfully at her twelve-year old cousin. "You're just jealous because you didn't get yours..." she sing-songed.

Matt choked on his bacon. "Is not!"

"Is to!"

"Not!"

"Too!"

"No-"

"Okay, okay, calm down kids." Sky's mom walked in, holding a plate piled with bacon.

"We're not kids!" Both of them exclaimed at the same time. Although they always denied it, they were very similar in many ways. One example is:

"YAY! BACON!"

But unfortunately, that led to:

"Hey! That's my bacon! I grabbed it first!"

"What? No way! Give it back!"

And that led to:

"Prank war for the last bacon strip?"

"You're on! Prepare to lose worse than Voldy, cousin!"

"You wish!"

All four adults sighed and exchanged 'Not this again' looks. They raised eyebrows at eachother, debating who should stop them this time. In the end, Matthew Threat (senior), Matt's father, managed to break them up just before they got the whipped cream blasters out.

"Come on. Let's not mess the place up before the party, okay?"

"Fine..." They both mumbled, disappointed that they couldn't prank the other cousin.

"Now," Giselle (Sky's mom) stood up, and rubbed her hands together. "Shall we get decorating?"

Sky and Matt groaned.
