"Pretty eyes, pretty nose, you're so pretty, even just looking at you makes me happy..."
~Where did you Come From?-BTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the next few days before Saturday, Taehyung couldn't help thinking that Jungkook was unhappy, that even though, he smiled a lot, he didn't mean any of those smiles. Seeing Jungkook at the very edge of himself, he had a hard time believing any smile.
But even with that, it seemed like he'd gotten closer to Jungkook then he had been, at least, it was like when they were at the orphanage, since Taehyung could remember what had happened, it wasn't like Jungkook was a stranger anymore. Of course he isn't, he kissed me.
Jungkook even helped Taehyung pick a gift to give to Hana, which ended up being a cute pink hair-bow with a tiny stuffed bear at the center that reminded him of her bear Chipmunk. And Saturday, Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook walked to the flower shop early in the morning and got a bouquet of roses, most of them white, but one red.
"You might as well just propose to her, if it's going to be like this, Tae." Jimin said when they were walking to Hana's house.
Taehyung put the flowers up to his face, smelling them for maybe the fourth time. He was hardly listening to Jimin, though he had heard him, he was thinking about how good the flowers smelled, and how good Hana smelled. That's weird.
I hope Hana likes the flowers, I hope she likes the gift...I hope I don't screw this up.
"Wow..." Jimin said, coming to an absolute stop. "I think I've lost contact with Taehyung."
"You haven't." Taehyung said.
"You say that, but dude, you're zoning out. Think you'll get a head start on those three million babies today or something?" Jimin smirked.
"Oh my god, hyung." Jungkook said, looking up at the sky. "It's his first date, as in ever."
Jungkook was my first kiss. Taehyung blushed, and he knew he did, his face couldn't feel that warm unless he was. He hoped Jungkook wasn't looking, if anything that would only make it worse, only make it more awkward then it already was, and he didn't want Jungkook to feel badly. It's my fault anyway...
Jimin shrugged. "That doesn't exclude him from feeling obligated to--."
Jungkook started speed walking, Hana's house not being all that far now, he probably hoped to get there so Jimin could stop talking about it, though Jimin went on anyway.
Taehyung picked up his pace so he could keep up with Jungkook, "I'm sorry..."
Jungkook smiled at him, "For what, hyung? You've got nothing to be sorry about."
Jungkook, you're making me feel worse about it the way you keep acting like nothing happened.
When they got to Hana's house, a bit ahead of Jimin, Jungkook gestured for Taehyung to ring the doorbell, and also for him to stand in front of the door, since Taehyung had assumed a position off to the side.
Taehyung cleared his throat, and by the time Jimin caught up, he worked up the nerve to ring the doorbell.
Hana's mother opened the door, and as soon as she saw the three of them, her eyes widened, and a big smile came to her face, "Perfect timing! Her Appa just left for work, he would have handed you an instruction and warnings booklet along with a death threat." Then she held one finger up, "Just one minute, I'll get her, she's spending extra time on her outfit." Then she closed the door again.
Spending extra time? If Taehyung thought about it, he'd hardly ever seen her in anything but her school uniform. Taehyung ended up looking down at what he was wearing. More things Jimin picked out, a light colored jacket and a black and white checkered button-up shirt, paired with dark blue jeans, and somehow, he'd teased his hair so much it looked good. Hana will look beautiful, she always looks beautiful.
"Oh, Tae, prepare your hormones." Jimin said with a laugh.
Jungkook pinched the bridge of his nose.
Soon after the door opened again, and this time it was Hana. Pretty, you're so pretty, you're like an angel. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail, and if he looked, she was wearing hints of blush and mascara, and then she was wearing a light pink dress that flared out toward the bottom, and a jean jacket over it. On her feet were black converse and knee-high socks with lace on the tops of them. She's so cute... Hana smiled when she saw Taehyung, and even more when he handed her the flowers.
"I hope you like the flowers...I didn't know what kind were your--." Taehyung started.
Hana shook her head, putting the bouquet of flowers by her face and smelling them. Then she pointed at them and smiled. She likes them?
"Oh, let's get these in some water." Mrs. Lee said, going back into the house, probably to get a vase.
"Bow. The bow, dufus." Jungkook whispered when her mom had gone into the house, facing away so Hana couldn't read his lips.
"Oh. " Taehyung gave her the bow, probably in the most unceremonious way possible. Why am I being so stupid? I could have at least said I'd thought of you, could have least let you know I wasn't just throwing a gift at you.
Hana giggled when she looked the bow over, then gave it back to Taehyung and pointed to the top of her head. It took Taehyung a second to realize she wanted him to put it on for her.
"Ah, sorry..." Taehyung mumbled, to which Hana giggled, having understood it anyway.
Hana was already cute, she'd always been cute, everything about her is cute. But after he'd put the bow in, it shouldn't have made so much of a difference, but it was like a perfect finishing touch, she looked--Taehyung wanted to hug her, she looked so sweet. He wouldn't, because she might not like that, she might just feel uncomfortable, and then...I don't want Hana to think that I'm...
"We're going to go, okay, Tae?" Jimin said, putting a hand on Taehyung's shoulder and interrupting his thoughts. "You know how to get there from here, right?"
Taehyung nodded. I remember, I haven't forgotten. Whenever Jimin left him anywhere by himself, it became apparent, somewhere deep inside, he still thought Taehyung wasn't completely mentally well. At least not well enough not to worry a little and want to make sure. When will you trust me, Jimin? Can't you see by now? There's nothing wrong with me...there isn't...
"Yeah, we'll see you." Jungkook said, smiling. "Hope you have a good time."
Do you even mean that? I can't tell.
Jimin chuckled. "Oh, they'll have a good time."
Jungkook sighed. "Hyung...have you met V-hyung?" Seeing that Jimin wasn't really listening, already starting the walk back, Jungkook sighed, then turned to Taehyung, "Don't even think what I know you're thinking, I told you, it's fine." Then Jungkook ran to catch up with Jimin.
It's hard not to think that, I know how much everything meant to you. 'It's fine' is different from 'I'm fine.'
"Are you leaving already?" Mrs. Lee said, coming back from finding a vase for the flowers. She smiled at the bow atop her daughter's head before hugging her tight. "Home by ten, okay?"
Hana nodded excitedly, then before Taehyung was even sure what happened, Hana grabbed his hand and started pulling him out toward the sidewalk. And he could hear her mom giggling as she did so.
~~~
Hana had stopped pulling him after a while, just walking with him, but she never really let go of his hand, and it felt strange, her warm hand in his, the way every once in a while, she'd squeeze his hand in hers.
And then there was the way she kept looking around, and behind her. What are you scared of? Taehyung had started looking back with her, just to see if he could see what she was trying to.
"Hana-ssi?" Taehyung asked leaning forward a little so she could see him and know to look. When he had her attention, he continued. "Are you alright?"
Hana nodded, smiling, then pointed out in front of them to the entrance to the amusement park, pulling him again. And Taehyung let himself be pulled, he didn't want to dwell on what might be making her upset. If I think about it, I...
Hana pulled him up to the line for admission, bouncing in place. Watching her so excited, he smiled, his mouth turning rectangular, and his first thought was to hide it, but...She said she liked it. So Taehyung just smiled anyway, letting out a deep giggle when she grabbed his other hand and bounced up and down more. Her smile was so cute, her excitement about something so simple was so cute.
Hana stopped bouncing and moved her left hand from his to his shoulder, then she danced with him, doing a sort of waltz in the line. They probably looked crazy, the way everyone was looking, including the people behind them in line, and even the people in front of them looked back. We look crazy. What is crazy?
Even if he looked crazy, what did it matter? He was happy, wasn't he? What was crazy? Was crazy something that people get called because they're not afraid to live? Not afraid to have fun? Not afraid to look weird? Was that a form of insanity, or wasn't it? I'm not crazy.
He grinned all the way to the front of the line. And by the time they actually got to the front, he couldn't even sort of keep the smile from his face, "Admission for me and her, please." Taehyung said, smiling big at the guy in charge of the admission, and putting the money Mrs. Park had given him for the admission on the booth counter.
The guy raised an eyebrow at Taehyung, taking the money, and giving him back change and two stubs of paper. "Have a good time..." He said, a little awkwardly.
I don't like that look, I don't like it. But Hana didn't give him time to dwell on it, taking his hand again and pulling him into the amusement park.
It was noisy inside, hearing people talking, and screaming, and laughing, and singing. But it wasn't a noise that was right there with you, it was far away in a way, like a noise that was loud, constant, but not close enough to make it impossible to hear what was going on directly around them.
First thing Hana got excited about was a booth with goldfish, where if you played, you could win one of them, though she seemed fine just looking at them, making fishy-faces.
"Hey, Hana-ssi," Taehyung started, tapping her on the shoulder. When she looked, he made a fishy-face, crossing his eyes for a moment, and probably looking ridiculous.
Hana's eyes widened, then she laughed, her laugh beautiful and child-like and cute. and before she could barely even recover from that, Taehyung stopped making the face and took her by the hand, leading her gently where he wanted to go.
He'd always wanted to see about three things in an amusement park. The Ferris wheel, a clown, and a fun house. But he kept his pace slow, just in case Hana's leg was hurting her, just so he'd be able to tell, he more or less almost walked backwards. And Hana didn't break eye contact with him the whole time. Your eyes are so pretty, so deep, like an ocean, like a star, like the universe. Taehyung licked his lips absently. Why are you doing this to my heart?
After that they headed to other attractions, starting with the jesters and the clowns, and Hana giggled almost the whole time while they did tricks and made her a balloon animal, and on the way over to get cotton candy, she hugged a man in a big teddy bear costume, also ending up taking a picture with him.
For someone who was deaf, maybe for her whole life, when she could, she was a very happy person. At least when Jae-hwa doesn't f*ck her life up.
It wasn't fair. Hana had never hurt anyone. She couldn't hurt anyone. She was a wonderful person, and it seemed like very few even cared about her. Everyone at the school only laughed when those photos were spread, the principal didn't insist any sort of action after what Jae-hwa did to her. She wasn't even suspended.
Everyone picked on Hana, and she didn't care, she was happy anyway, or at least...she was on the surface, but that was more then he ever was.
After the cotton candy, they went off toward the Ferris wheel, jumping on, since it didn't stop to let people on. Hana giggled more, laughing at how hastily Taehyung had gotten in considering how slow the Ferris wheel ran around in it's circle.
Taehyung would have said something, but Hana was already looking out at the view as the basket rose higher toward the sky. Her mouth forming a 'O' as she saw a panorama of buildings and landscape unfolding as it got higher.
It was a nice view... "Hana, please be careful..." Taehyung said, not particularly loud. She wasn't looking, she wouldn't get that. But her looking over the ledge like that bothered him, especially the way she was starting to lean.
He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her toward him. He hadn't thought of it beforehand, just did it because as the Ferris Wheel got higher, it scared him, I don't want anything bad to happen to Hana.
When he pulled her back, she'd landed on his lap, and as soon as he realized that, he blushed. Hana just turned and stared, quiet. Please don't be upset at me, I didn't mean it like that. I might have looked like it, with them sitting on the floor of the basket, Hana on top of him...
Hana looked up at him, eyes wide. Then something shifted in her eyes, the look in them changing. It was a subtle change, barely anything at all, but her face was so close to his, it made a difference.
"Hana..." Taehyung swallowed. It wasn't like she could even see his mouth well enough to actually understand him.
Before he could think over the action, he smashed his lips against hers. To which she made a noise a lot like a kitten meowing out of surprise.
By that point it was too late to stop, any thought that could have made him stop was irrelevant. The only clear thought was just, Hana, Hana, Hana. Her soft lips that taste like sugar, her small hands that are gripping my shoulders, her body that seems to melt more for every second I kiss her.
She apparently wasn't offended by the kiss at all, probably wanting it as bad as he did, at least she did enough to work her tongue into his mouth.
God, she's so sweet. May have only been his second kiss, but it was heaven. Maybe Jungkook was right, maybe It's not the same kind of love.
