"In a single instant, Drop, drop, drop, the rain starts falling, welling up in the corners of my eyes (The rain wells up) You well up..."
~Let Me Know-BTS

Taehyung peeked around the corner, scanning the hallways, nervous and scared and sure no one would like him just like they always did.
It had been two days. One day of studying with Jimin and Jungkook, though they didn't say much to him, and Jimin had all his attention on Jungkook. The day after that, Jimin and Kyung-mi had gone to school, and he'd had the house to himself.
He couldn't believe they'd just leave him in the house alone for two hours. Jimin's Mom didn't go to work when Jimin went to school, going sometime later, but when she did leave, Taehyung was alone in their house for two whole hours. Even if Mrs. Park had given him every emergency number she knew, he couldn't help but think that they were putting a lot of trust in him to not do something crazy.
And now whenever he looked at Mrs.Park, he thought of that word--adopt. It couldn't be true, Taehyung knew that, if someone wanted to adopt, they went to an orphanage, not a mental hospital. And there was the element of love. No one loved him, so they wouldn't want him in their family, it was that simple. And all Taehyung did was mess up their family anyway, he didn't fit with them.
But today was the day he'd been sick about, that he'd been queasy about, today was the day he was going to school. Today was the day his blood seemed to run through his veins like ice and his skin covered in goosebumps.
He wore the school uniform, white button up shirt, dark tie, black jacket, white jeans and a black belt, a backpack filled with newly bought books and supplies that Mrs. Park had picked up on her way back from work the day before. Jimin had spent half an hour on Taehyung's hair, teasing and tousling it until it looked boyish and kind of messy, but somehow put together.
Taehyung looked around the corner again, looking at all the students hanging out by their lockers, talking, laughing, sharing stories. Taehyung swallowed. That's what he would be, a story to tell everyone else about, some item to ridicule and poke at.
"Okay, first rule of surviving high school," Jungkook started, pulling Taehyung back away from the corner by the shoulder. "Don't peek around corners like a stalker. Doing that can get you two things, a whole bunch of people who want to hide from you, because that's creepy, or a whole bunch of people who will dismiss you as shy." Jungkook said, then turned to Jimin who was standing next to him. "Right?"
Jimin looked from Jungkook to Taehyung blankly. Then shrugged. "But he is shy."
I'm not, I just don't know what to say without you thinking the wrong things. "I'm sorry..." Taehyung said, giving a quick bow.
"Tae, don't be sorry." Jimin said, groaning.
"Yeah, and smile," Jungkook put his fingers to the corners of Taehyung's mouth, pushing his lips into a smile, and Taehyung couldn't help but grin wide and rectangular--for a second. "Why don't you smile?" Jungkook asked, sounding kind of sad, his expression as sad as he sounded, his hands coming away from Taehyung's face limply.
"I..." Taehyung stopped, about to apologize again. "I'm scared." He didn't want to admit it, but it was better then apologizing for the billionth time. I'm scared of what they'll say, what they'll think, what they'll do.
Jungkook pouted. No one had told him that Taehyung was 'crazy', so Jungkook was absolutely oblivious. Taehyung liked it that way, because he treated him like he was normal. "Taehyung, they're just hormonal teenagers, the worst they'll do at this stage is stare at your butt." Jungkook took a lollipop out of his pocket and unwrapped it, sticking the red candy in his cheek. "Seriously, that's probably what they'll do, so prepare yourself for that."
Taehyung chewed his lip. They would? Taehyung felt his face get hot, he was probably blushing.
"Damn, Tae, thought you knew about that." Jimin said, grinning.
Jungkook gave Jimin a smack upside the head, then grabbed Taehyung by the wrist, then brought him out from behind the safety of the corner.
Taehyung's mouth fell open slightly, and he looked at all the kids in the hallway, their eyes looking up at him, Taehyung's sneakers squeaking across the floor as Jungkook pulled him drawing their attention.
He felt like a bug under a microscope, strapped down and stared at. Taehyung cringed by accident at the memories. He looked around, studying their faces. They all just looked surprised or confused, looking him up and down, and because of what Jungkook had said, Taehyung felt self conscious about where they were looking.
Then the bell rang, and Taehyung never felt so relieved.
As students rushed to the classroom, Taehyung wished he could just stay where he was. He felt like he was going to throw up. He didn't fit in, he already knew that, but if someone said it, he felt like he might just puke.
"Come on, Tae." Jimin said, taking Taehyung's other hand. Then they both dragged him to the classroom.
Taehyung felt his heart hammer against his chest as they pulled him in the classroom. It beat so fast and with such force he thought he was going to die--actually physically die.
The teacher at the front of the room smiled, adjusting his glasses, his hair a salt and pepper and wearing something very similar to the school uniform, except the jacket was a dark maroon. The rest of the class just stared from their seats. Taehyung felt more sick then ever with all these eyes on him.
The teacher gestured for Taehyung to go over to him, and Jimin and Jungkook released his hands, both going to their seats. And Taehyung felt incredibly alone and more like he was going to throw up then ever.
He went over to the teacher, and he put a hand on Taehyung's shoulder, rubbing it encouragingly. Then he leaned in toward Taehyung so the other students wouldn't hear. "Go ahead, it's okay."
Taehyung knew for a fact that all the teachers were aware of his 'problem', Mrs. Park said she did it in case something happened. In case I have some kind of mental episode, and they feel the need to stuff me with pills.
He bowed to the class. "Hello, I'm Kim Taehyung, please treat me well." And he absolutely meant that, he wanted no one to make fun of him, no one to pick on him, he wanted to be normal, he wanted someone to love him. It's all I want...It's all I want.
After the introduction was done, the teacher directed him to a seat behind Jimin and between Jungkook and a girl with dark purple hair, the color so dark that it looked black in some lights. He looked at it for a while longer then he had meant to, trying to discern the color. Then he sat down, looking straight at the desk. He could feel their eyes on him, but it helped a little not to look.
Jungkook kicked Taehyung's foot. Taehyung looked up to find Jungkook grinning at him. "Second rule, smile...!" He said through his teeth loud enough so Taehyung could hear.
Taehyung gave Jungkook a tight lipped smile. He wasn't going to smile, not like how he usually did, not that strange rectangular smile, not in public.
The classroom door opened again, and it called Taehyung's attention away from Jungkook.
"Jae-hwa, you're tardy again." The teacher said dryly. "Please stop dragging Miss Lee out with you please."
Taehyung panicked. Jae-hwa? No, it couldn't be. It just couldn't. Please, no. Taehyung looked back down at his desk, avoiding the front of the room. He felt his hands shake, his blood run cold. He wished he could disappear. Please don't be her, please, just let it be a coincidence.
"Oh, she needs to get out, she's just stuffed with useless information."
Taehyung knew the voice. Damn it, he knew that voice. Why? Why? Why? Why did she have to be here? Taehyung never wanted to see her face again. But he looked up, just to see if he was right.
Taehyung inhaled sharply. He didn't see what he thought he would. He saw an angel, a beautiful angel. She walked right by his desk, watching the floor as she walked.
Behind her was the devil incarnate. Jae-hwa. Sister... He wasn't sure why he still thought of her as that, she'd damned him. And here she was, red lipstick staining her lips, mascara coating her eyelashes, clothes way too small, to show off her cleavage and legs. The female version of the uniform being with a skirt, she had it possibly so short it wasn't even a uniform anymore.
Jae-hwa stopped next to his desk, her eyes wide, her mouth starting to curl into a frown, and her eyes starting to fill with rage. Taehyung couldn't look away, the sight of her filled him with nothing but fear. She's going to tell everyone.
"Jae-hwa, we're waiting." the Teacher said impatiently.
"Yeah." She said, then leaned in close to Taehyung. "Out of the nutter house? I'll send you back with a parade." Then she went to her seat.
Taehyung's hands shook more then ever, he clenched them into fists to try to stop it. No. Please. Don't. Don't. Please. I can't go through it again, I can't go back to that white room, I can't be strapped to a bed again, I can't live behind that locked door, I can't be fed all those pills and medication again. Taehyung felt tears welling in his eyes.
Jungkook watched Taehyung, obviously concerned, though Taehyung doubted he'd heard anything Jae-hwa had said.
Sometime after the Teacher had started the lesson, Taehyung felt tears roll down his face, but he just kept looking at the desk, tears hitting the surface of it in a slow, painful rhythm.
