*Sonic's POV*
[1 week together]
"Sonic?" I looked up to see Shadow standing in front of me. I smiled and stood up.

"Hey. You're here." I extended my hand, offering it in case he wanted to take it. He hesitated and almost did hold my hand but stopped himself and rested back down. He still didn't want to be so close to me, so I respected that and put my hand down.

"You said to meet you here." Shadow crossed his arms as we walked side by side.

"Yeah! I have something I want to show you." I said excitedly. "Keep up, will yah?"

"What do you mean?" I heard him say just before I dashed off. I laughed a little and laughed a bit louder when Shadow caught up to me and rolled his eyes as he skated beside me.

We stopped when we got to the place I wanted to show Shadow. A beautiful meadow I had found not too long ago, the first person that came to mind when I found it was him. And now that we were dating, I was very happy to show the place to him.

Shadow stopped beside me and looked around, his cold expression softened just enough to show a hint of happiness. He looked at me and chuckled softly, I could only imagine it was because I was looking at him like an excited puppy. I couldn't help it. It was our first date. We spent the day at the meadow, just talking.

[3 months together]
"So, how long has it been?" Amy asked as we all met at the beach. I was playing volleyball with her, Tails and Knuckles. Rouge and Shadow were sitting at a picnic table.

"3 months." Shadow answered.

"Yeah, it was 3 months yesterday." I smiled as I hit the ball and accidentally hit Knuckles in the face.

"And you're barely telling us now? Chaos! You and Shadow have been together for 3 months, and we are barely finding out?" Amy sounded mad, but I was laughing at Knuckles.

"Hey! I was the one that made you send that message, and you never told me?" Tails gasped.

"We just wanted to make sure we were comfortable first before we told anyone." I shrugged.

"But I knew." Rouge hummed, crossing her legs.

"What?" I looked at Shadow, and he shrugged.

"She made me tell her." I playfully rolled my eyes and walked to him.

Today was the day we finally made our relationship public. To our friends and everyone else.

[5 months together]
"Sonic! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Shadow cupped my face, then examined me, turning my face and checking my body for any injuries as we stood in the middle of a destroyed pile of Eggmans robots.

"I'm okay, Shadz. I promise." I smiled happily at him and held his hand. He instantly squeezed it. He moved his free hand behind my head and pulled me closer, then kissed me.

My ears perked up, and my face turned a bright shade of red. I tensed up and yet instantly melted as I kissed back. Our first kiss.

[10 months]
"You're spending the night?" Shadow looked almost scared at that.

"Relax, I will sleep on the couch." I laughed softly.

"No. You don't have to." Shadow wrapped an arm around me.

"I dont?" I raised a brow with a small smirk, causing him to playfully roll his eyes.

"Don't make me change my mind." He leaned closer and kissed my forehead.

It was the first time we spent the night together.

[1 year together]
"You dance?" I raised a brow. Rouge and Tails had planned a 1 year anniversary party for us.

"I learned for you. Don't make me feel stupid." He reached for my hand, and I blushed and held his. He pulled me closer as he guided me.

"You regret getting with me now?" I hummed as I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heart. It was very peaceful.

"Never." Shadow whispered in my ear as he rested his head on top of mine.

[1 year and 6 months together]
"Are you kidding me?" I laughed softly, covering my face as I brightly blushed.

"Do you not want it?" Shadow raised a brow, confused at me as he held the promise ring in his hand.

"No! I want it. It's just -" I opened my palm, showing him a promise ring I had bought for him. "We think alike." His ears perked up, and he started laughing as well. Every time he laughed, it was as if the air escaped out of my lungs. It was beautiful. He was breathtaking.

"We do." He finally spoke and put the ring on my finger, and then I did the same for him.

We will always be together. "I promise."

[2 years together]
"Are you sure you are ready to move in with him?" Tails asked me as he helped me put my stuff into boxes.

"Are you trying to get him to change his mind?" Shadow walked to the door while carrying some boxes and placed them outside.

"No." Tails laughed softly. "I mean, I just thought with Shadow being more old style that you two would get married first at some point."

"He's not old style. Well, he is in certain things." I chuckled softly. "I just thought it would be better if we moved in together first to test out the waters, you know?"

"He thinks I'm going to hate him once I know how it is living with him." Shadow said as he walked in and picked up more boxes. "I could never hate you, Hedgehog." He stopped. "Not again." He corrected, causing me and Tails to softly laugh.

[3 years together]
"It's been 2 months since we defeated Eggman." Amy said as we leaned over the balcony of my bedroom while drinking a beer. "How are you feeling?" She asked me softly as she looked over at the stars.

"I am not sure." I confessed.

"Still feeling the same way?" She looked at me, and I did the same. "Come on. You can talk to me, Sonic. I will always be here for you. Shadow isn't here now. Let it out."

"We just want different things, Ames. He wants to stay here, work for G.U.N. for a while longer, but I can't continue to suffer like that. I am dead worried he won't come back one of these days. Sure, he's immortal. The man is going to outlive me, but there are still ways Shadow can die. There's always a way. And I am terrified of that." I sighed and rubbed my face. "I want him to get out of G.U.N. I don't know, maybe we can find something else to do to bring us money? Something not so risky. We already gave most of our lives fighting to save everything and everyone. Why can't he just drop it?"

"You can't tell me you don't miss the action, Sonic. Maybe he just feels the same way?" Amy said as she grabbed the bottle from my hand and placed it on the nightstand as she led me inside my room. She sat down and made me sit down beside her.

"I do. I really do. But I am also tired of the constant stress. I mean, he was the one always telling me not to go into battle with Eggman, yet he jumps into a mission, sometimes without even telling me about it until he has to go." I sighed and shook my head.

"Maybe you should talk to him, Sonic. Communication is key." She petted my quills, and I nodded.

"Yeah. You're right. I will talk to him. Thanks for hearing me out, Ames." I smiled, and she nodded.

"Always."

[3 years together and 1 week]
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Shadow asked as he dropped off the last box at my house. I smiled and nodded at him.

"I promise I will be." I walked closer and hugged him tightly.

"I'm sorry, Sonic." He said as he hugged back. I shook my head and pulled away.

"It's not your fault, Shadow. We both want different things. Just please don't forget I am still your friend. You can always come to me for anything. I don't want to lose our friendship." I picked up the box he had just put down.

"Of course. Then." He stopped and turned around. "I'll see you around then." With that said, he chaos controlled away.

[2 years after breakup]
That was the last time I saw Shadow in person. Such beautiful memories I will forever cherish.
