Chapter 4
I went to the infirmary. I hadn't bothered to clean up since I was going to go check on the werewolves that had been injured when they had been effected by the dark magic. I entered the infirmary. Werewolves were lying on cots, bandages wrapped around them. I approached one and looked at him. He had gotten a head injury and sprained his ankle.
He looked at me, eyes sad. I nodded to him. He was part of Golden Boy's werewolf pack. I had only met that man a few times. I walked away and sighed. I needed to get cleaned up before it got anymore late.
I got home and quickly showered. I couldn't stop thinking about what the order had said. I had to help him. He'd done so much to help me. I flopped down on my bed once I was in my PJ's. My kitten mewed as it leaped onto my bed.
I let out another sigh. The only way to get answers would be to go to the home of the Wyverns. Why me? Why did I have to be born with extremely powerful magic? I growled and got up. I put on some armor I had, slid on my utility belt, clipped my sheathed daggers onto my utility belt and threw my cloak on.
Adventuring into the home of the Wyverns is dangerous, but I dealt with danger nearly every day. Hopefully, I can remember what to say to the Wyverns to keep them from attacking me. I teleported to the hall of portals and searched for the Wyvern portal. I found it near the door. I quickly slipped into the Wyvern portal. I had my daggers drawn.
I fell out of the portal onto my face. I stood up, spitting out dirt.
"Why does this always happen to me?" I thought out loud
I pulled my hood down. I needed to find the Wyvern elder. He should be able to answer my questions. A Wyvern swooped overhead and landed in front of me, growling. It was a bright crimson color. Wyvern bites were venomous.
If I get bit by this one, I was done for. I began to speak Wyvern.
"I have not come to harm you or your tribe mates. I came only to speak with the elder." I said
The Wyvern spoke, "How can I trust you? You're a human."
I frowned. I had to show this Wyvern I wasn't just human. I began to softly say a spell. I raised my hands, cupping them over one another and traced my palm. Next I threw my hand palm up in the air and a white beam of light shot from it. It exploded in the sky.
"You're not human. Only the strongest magic users can cast a spell like that."
"Yeah, but it takes a great toll of energy." I said
"Follow me."
I nodded and followed the Wyvern on foot to a absolutely huge cave. A very large, icy blue and white Wyvern stood in the center. The crimson one bowed its head to it. They spoke quickly, the huge one glancing at me a couple of times. A few minutes later, the crimson one bowed its head and left.
"What is it that you want mage?" The Wyvern Elder asked
"I wish to listen to your great wisdom." I said
"You show much bravery, courage, and loyalty by coming here mage." The Wyvern Elder said
"I know that what I am doing is great danger, but I had to find out answers." I said
"Then ask me what you need to." The Wyvern Elder said
I took a deep breath.
"Do you know of the dark wizard known as Madrid?" I asked
"How much do I wish I could forget. That man is a mad man. He is tampering with dangerous magic." The Wyvern Elder said
"Yes, I know. His pet Chimera had killed my parents 10 years ago and the same pet had gave me this burn scar you now see on my face." I said, motioning to the burn scar that covered most of the left side of my face.
"He's tainted another, hasn't he?" The Wyvern Elder said, lowering his head.
"Sadly I don't know yet, but if he has, the one he had tainted had been a great friend of mine." I said sadly
"Yes, his name was Daemon, was it not?" The Wyvern Elder said
I had forgotten that the Wyvern Elder could see what happens in any dimension or time. I sighed and shook my head.
"I need to know if there's a way to reverse a tainted soul." I said
"There is one way, but it comes with a great consequence." The Wyvern Elder said
"I don't care, all I want is my loyal friend back." I said
"Then you must follow exactly what I'm going to tell you." The Wyvern Elder said
I listened as he told me specific instructions. I prayed for hope it was going to work; if I was going to get Golden Boy back, I had to take a risk. One that may cost him or I something.
