Part 11

Kookie Pov~

There was a soft knock on the door, I frowned and turned my head to where the noise came from. I haven't seen another angel - besides hyung - since I arrived, so it was a bit of a shock to have someone knocking on my chamber door.

"Um hello?" I asked nervously

Another soft knock echoed on my the door. I dragged my eyes away from the portal and walked towards the door.

"Hello?" I called again and slowly opened the door.

A petite girl was hovering a few inches off the ground, she gave me a bright smile and waves cutely. Her wings seemed almost too big for her body, yet they moved gracefully through the air and she seemed perfectly stable with them. "Hiya! I'm Sooah~!" She said cheerfully and slowly made her way into my room

"Y-You can fly?" I said in awe at the way her wings were slicing thought the air in sharp swift moments

She snorted and looked at me. "These wings aren't just here to look pretty y'know. What did you think the wings were for?"

"Oh..." my cheeks turned red as I realised how stupid I had been. "I've never tried..."

"It's easy, I'll teach you" she landed back on her feet. "Relax and imagine you're as light as a feather, feel the air around your and imagine you're gathering it all underneath each wing and let it move you upwards"

"Umm.. okay" I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. My nose crinkled, it felt so stupid to do this in front of a random angel girl. After a few minutes of nothing happening, I opened my eyes and pouted a little. "I can't do it"

"I was kiddding" she snorted again. "Just wiggle your wings around til you're off the ground.".

"Hey! You meanieee!" I did as she said, my wings slowly started to spread, my bones clicked until they were in their full glory. I hesitantly wiggled, in response my wings started to flap in jittery, un-coordinated movements. I giggled in amusement as my feet started to leaving the ground. "Sooah!" I exclaimed in disbelief, everyone dreams of flying as a kid, but actually doing it is something else. I felt so weightless, so free, so alive. Soon movements became more graceful and I was able to move around. I had completely forgot about Sooah until I heard am impatient cough break through my childish giggles.

"Oh... sorry Sooah!" I shakily landed on my feet, my wings folded back down to my back and I smiled at her. "Oh... by the way I'm Kookie!" I bowed

Sooah smiled softly. "I noticed that you haven't been out of your room since you arrived here Kookie"

"I'm allowed to go out?" I cocked my head

"Of course... heaven isn't all work." She chuckled lightly. "Plus don't you get bored staring at the portal all day?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm drawn to it... honestly it's hard to take my eyes off of it"

"Hmm... interesting..." she looked at the portal and pursed her lips

"What? Is something wrong?"

"No, Kookie... anyway lets go and explore?"

"Um are you sure it's alright?"

"Of course!

As we stepped out of the room we were met with the most exquisite view anyone could hope for. Directly in front of them stood an austere palace. The entirety of the palace was made out of an auriferous gold medium that had an ersatz pearlescent luster about it. Scintillating crystals, embedded in the precious rock, reflected each beam of dazzling sunlight. It spliced the rays, showering the scenes below in a multitude of alluring hues.

Below the palace was a mantle of shimmering cloud. The muted white of the cloud was soon forgotten as brilliant reds, electric blues and vibrant purples danced upon surface, decorating it with the colors of heaven.

Surrounding the palace, which - upon further inspection - seemed to be the focal point of the whole set up, more clouds, each with its own odd and idiosyncratic building erect upon it, were floating around.

Speckles of gold dust spiraled around each floating island, with such vigorous movements it seemed that they were the reason they could all float.

Below that, where the pirouetting colors faded in the background, was the earth. Most prominent was the striking blue oceans, dominating most of the canvas. Blocks of green and browns, embroidered with little illuminated yellow dots, cut through the oceans.

Staring down at the scene for too long was hazardous and proved quiet troublesome for me as I not only had a fear of heights, but also of falling.

"See, this is why angels have wings" Sooah said, breaking the tense atmosphere of appreciation that had laid thick around myself. "No roads here" she continued.

Strong gusts of wind hit my cheek as Sooah and I took flight, raising her dainty body off of the cloud and into the sky. "Follow me!" She called and zoomed off in no particular direction.

With a firm intake of breath and a new found curiosity, I shakily allowed my wings to take me into the air. They carried me higher and higher till me was a good distance away from the cloud, I followed Sooah. I enjoyed the feel of wind whipping through my hair, of being free, of feeling so awake. This is where my life in heaven truly begins.

"Where to next?" I asked, thoroughly exhausted by our adventures so far.

We had visited the library, to take a look at the grand Book of Souls and read some of the stories it had to tell.

The Statue of Eternal Disdain, a statue made from the remains of demons that were killed during the wars.

The Fountain of Weeping Angels, the first of our kind, the angels who led us out of earth and into the heavens.

"Um~ oh! There is the mall~ you need some new clothes Kookie, you look like you're new!"

"Technically I am..."

"Shut up!" She whined a little.

After visiting the mall, where the restaurants replenished ourselves and whatever we wanted was served instantaneously and clothes shops where whatever style you wanted be available.

"Sooah! I'm tired... I want to go and watch my human" I whined, wanting nothing more than to oogle at the boy I was watching over.

"Okay, one last stop, we should visit the post office. There might be letters for you"

I nodded, I followed my new friend to the post office.

In front of me stood two large doors, their ornate mahogany was etched with mystic patterns and symbols. Sooah slowly pushed open the door. Revealing a pristine marble floor, the glistened with the pride of being polished four times a week, at the very least. Framing the room were rows of pillars, they skyrocketed upwards, touching the heavens, literally, and connecting to the ceiling.

Painting of angels and demons, of monsters and cherubs, of all things magnificently bizarre, lined the ceiling. Each one depicted a story, of war, or peace, of domination.

In the center of the hall was a bustling crowd of angels. Various beings also flitted around in the sky, preferring the air as it was less congested.

"Let's go and find your pigeon hole" Sooah chimed

She led me to a separate section of the office. Rows and rows and rows and rows and.... you get the idea... rows of pigeon holes lined the wall, for a good stretch of what seemed like forever.

"How are we gonna find mine?" I asked, severely baffled

"Easy" Sooah remarked. "It's alphabetical, just gotta search for Kookie"

A few minutes of searching and we found my pigeon hole. It was completely empty though. (I don't know what I was thinking... why would I expect any letters anyway?) Despite not expecting anything I felt a little sad.

"It's okay Kookie... you're still new... maybe there was some problems with deliveries"

"Yeah..."

I peered over my portal, idley watching Taehyung scrawl some letter. Everyday he writes... what is it... is he some kinda author?

Suddenly there was a large bang that made me jump in my seat, but not look up.

"KOOKIE!" Sooah shouted.

My head snapped the side and I looked at her in confusion. I stood up from his chair and rushed over to her "Sooah? What's wrong??"

Her hair was messily thrown into a side ponytail, rubble dirt and...was that blood?;  stained her left cheek, it was smeared down her neck too. She shook her her head to hush me quietly.

"Here take it! Take it!" She thrusted a large pile of papers into Kookie's hands. "Don't tell anyone I was here!"

She stood up and rushed to the door.

"Sooah wai-"

But it was too late the sound of a door slamming cut me off. I rushed to the door and flung it open, only to find no one there. The view seemed less spectacular when viewed without a companion.

I sighed and closed the door before perching on my bed, clutching the papers to my chest. I sighed at the thought knowing I had people in my past life.

Shakily I opened opened the first sheet of paper. What's on these? What's so important about them? I frowned to myself and took a sharp breath before reading the Letter.

Dear Kookie,

The writing looked familar... but something obscured my memory. I felt a pang in my heart as I read the words think think...

The thought evaded me and I sighed. "Better keep reading..." I mumbled

Th-

A blue hand snatched the papers from underneath my nose, the pages were suspended above his outstretched palm.

"I'll be taking that..." a soft voice remarked

I looked up and frown. "Head Angel? What are you doing hyung?"

"My job..." he crumpled his hands into a fist and the papers caught on fire, turning to ash and disintegrating.

My heart felt like it was bursting. I was reduced to me knees the pain was too much.

"H-hyung" I stuttered "why?"

What is this pain? Is it because of the letters?

"Sorry Kookie... those letters would have interferred..."
