You are alone on a bridge.

The weather is perfect- calming, even. You don't know what bridge you're standing on due to the light blue fog surrounding you.

The fog reminds you of cotton candy. You take a deep, refreshing breath and a sweet smell takes over you.

Is the fog making me high? You think to yourself, but you're too emotionally peaceful to care.

The only thing you can see is the straight, lonely path ahead of you. Your body feels strangely light as you take one step forward.

On the other side of the bridge, the fog slightly clears, revealing a tall figure.

From where you are standing, the figure seems to belong to a man, and he is turned away from you.

As you walk slowly towards the man, your heart beats faster. You have no idea who this mysterious boy is, but you are excited to find out.

Something in your mind tells you that this man is the answer to all your problems. He is your savior, your source of happiness-

Your true love.

You are getting closer to the figure. "Yoongi?" You call out. The echoes of your voice disappear into the clouds.

It feels strange to say that name, but you don't want to think about the pain and heartbreak behind that name. All you want to do is to reach the person waiting for you across the bridge.

Happy and hopeful thoughts fill up your mind, but something pulls you out of these thoughts.

You've been walking for what seems like thirty minutes now, but you aren't moving at all. You are still so far away from the figure, and he is still turned away from you, his long coat billowing gently in the wind.

Another thing starts to happen: the once-peaceful fog now seems ominous and intimidating as it slowly starts to engulf you. The sweet smell is addicting, but it is making you too dizzy.

"Who are you?!" You shout across the bridge.

As your head throbs painfully, forcing your eyes shut, a thought comes into your mind.

You already know the answer.

The answer was there all along.

As you fall into the fog, a wave of emotions crashes over you. You should've known... for so long, the answer has been so obvious.

And the answer isn't Min Yoongi.

---

Someone gently taps your shoulder. You slowly open your sleepy eyes.

"Y/N? Honey?" Jennie says softly. She is sitting next to you on your bed. You shuffle around uncomfortably in the sheets and realize that you are still wearing the tight red dress from last night. On the bedside table, you can see an empty tub of coffee-flavored ice cream and a half-full wine glass.

"Hi." You rasp, sitting up. Your whole body aches, especially your head.

You stare at the wine glass again. "Did I get drunk last night?" You ask, not sure if you really want to know the answer.

"No, you didn't. You were too sleepy. But you did eat a lot of ice cream. You barely shared any with me!" Jennie frowns, then she giggles.

"Oh."

She abruptly stops giggling and a cloud seems to pass over her face. You barely ever see her this serious, so what she's about to say is probably important.

"Um, Y/N..." She looks at you uneasily.

"...your mom is here. I- I think Namjoon told her about- about the break-up." She says it all in a nervous whisper, as if Mom was listening right outside the bedroom door.

"Oh." You say again, clutching your stomach. You suddenly feel nauseous.

"You okay?" Jennie says, her voice turned back to normal.

"No. Yeah. I- I just need to change out of this crap." You stumble towards the bathroom, fidgeting with the hem of your dress.

"Rip it to shreds, girl." Jennie sighs. "I don't care how much I spent to buy that. If it only gives you bad memories, it's best to get rid of it."

"No!" You force out a laugh. "This dress is so expensive. I can't just throw away your money like that! But I won't be wearing it again, you can make sure of that. It's looks gorgeous but it's so fucking uncomfortable."

You finally make it to the bathroom and shut the door. Your hand slips from the doorknob and you fall forward towards the toilet, throwing up all that ice cream and alcohol from last night. You hastily flush the toilet and wipe your mouth with the back of your hand.

After changing into a loose t-shirt and pajama shorts, you quickly brush your teeth and wash your face with cold water.

You don't want to face your mother. You don't want to see her reaction to all the drama with Yoongi. You feel a slight pang of anger towards Namjoon, but realize that you're actually pretty thankful. Now you don't have to go through the struggle of explaining the break-up to your mom.

And besides, you can't keep the truth from her forever.

---

Your mother is sitting at the end of the dining table. Jennie makes her a cup of tea, then she leaves for work at the pet store.

You approach the table uneasily, looking carefully at her facial expressions. At the moment, she seems pretty calm, and she is focusing on drinking the hot tea.

You have two choices- to sit at the other end of the table- far away- or to sit next to her. The choice of sitting next to her will lead you to being more vulnerable to breaking down.

Nonetheless, you take a seat next to her.

You realize that you just want to fall into her arms and cry endlessly.

But somehow, you manage to control yourself and wait quietly for her to start talking.

To start lecturing you.

Finally, she finishes taking a sip of tea. "Your best friend Kim Namjoon told me everything."

To your surprise, she smiles softly. You expected anger and "I told you so" speeches. Instead, she reaches out and squeezes your hand reassuringly.

"Honey, I don't want to make this harder for you, okay?"

You nod, blushing with shame and embarrassment as you look down at your lap.

"But why the hell would he break up with you?"

You smile sadly. "He's going solo. He seems really determined to pursue his career, and I'll just slow him down." Your chest hurts as you say this. No matter how hard Yoongi tried to explain his reasons in a way that wouldn't hurt your feelings, the truth couldn't be hidden.

After denying it for so long, reality finally dawns upon you.

You and Yoongi are done. And there's probably no chance you're getting back together.

"Oh, dear. I knew this would happen." Your mom sighs. "Really, that boy. Always putting his career before anything else."

She lets go of your hand and looks at you sternly. "I warned you before you started dating him, Y/N."

You hang your head and your hair falls around your face. There goes the "I told you so" speech.

Your mother sighs again and reaches out her hand, tilting your chin up.

"Well, honey, we can't turn back the time. I'm so sorry, Y/N. I know how much you loved him- and how much he loved you."

Tears fall silently down your cheeks and your vision blurs. Your mother clicks her tongue and wipes the tears away with her thumb.

"Don't let him ruin your life, ok? Honestly, it's his loss. He just broke up with the strongest, smartest, and most beautiful woman in the world. Just live your life and don't look back, no matter how hard it may be at first."

She pauses and forces a smile onto her face. "When your dad decided to divorce me, it was because he wanted to start a new life. He wasn't really a family-oriented person to begin with. So, he moved to America, and now he owns one of the most successful car companies in the world. I'm happy for him, but I'm even happier being a mother to you and your brother. We both got the lives we wanted.

"And you can get the life you want too, with or without a man."

Park Jimin's POV

"I'm just- I'll go outside for a while." I mumble, pushing myself off of the couch. I couldn't bring myself to look at anyone, especially Yoongi.

I stuff my hands in my pockets and walk briskly towards the backyard. Halfway there, I realize that I'd rather get out of this house and walk to the coffee shop, but it's too late to turn around and walk the other way. I don't want to make things more awkward.

Finally, I make it to the glass sliding doors. I quietly close the door behind me and take a deep breath of fresh air. The soft breeze brushes gently against my face, calming my nerves a little bit. I have so many emotions inside of me right now- anger, sadness, confusion...

I sit down on the stone bench under the maple tree to think about these emotions.

I am angry because- why would Yoongi hyung just leave us? After 7 years of being a team together? He even said once that Bangtan was like his family. Was that just a lie to hide his selfisness? I can't believe he put his career ambitions before friendship.

But he's still my friend... right? Well, if he is my friend, I should support him. The boys and I made a promise years ago that together or not, we'd always try to be understanding with each other.

Because that's what a team does.

I run my hands through my hair in frustration. I really want to support Yoongi's decision, but I also have to consider the consequences. What will happen to Bangtan? Can we still be the same without Suga?

No, of course we can't. BTS isn't BTS without all 7 of us.

I hear footsteps approaching. I turn around and see Taehyung walking towards me. His head was slightly tilted downwards, making his light brown bangs cover his eyes.

He takes a seat on the other side of the bench and clears his throat. I wait for him to say something, but he doesn't.

After a while- "So what do you think about Yoongi hyung's decision?" I ask at the same time Taehyung says, "Are you ok?"

I can't help but let out a quiet laugh. He returns a small smile, but I can see in his eyes that something is deeply bothering him.

"What did you say?" He asks.

"I said what do you think about Yoo-"

"Oh, that." He frowns. "I don't know. I guess... I guess I'm sad."

I wait for him to elaborate. When he doesn't explain further, I scoff, "That's it? You're just 'sad'?"

"Yeah." He starts tapping his foot on the ground as he looks off into the distance. Something is definitely bothering him. Whenever we'd talk, we would say everything to each other. We'd explain our feelings in detail. But he doesn't even seem to be thinking about Yoongi right now. His mind is obviously focused on something else.

"Hey, you ok?" I ask, reaching out and giving his arm a soft push.

"Yeah. I mean, no. Not really. But I'm fine." He looks into my eyes, then quickly turns away.

"Well, do you want to tell me what's wrong? Ever since we got back from the Love Yourself tour, you've been so distant. Especially with me. C'mon, we're best buddies, Tae. Did I do something to make you mad?"

"No!" He shouts a little too loudly. He looks toward the house to make sure the others didn't hear. "No, you're fine. It's just..."

"...n-never mind. You wouldn't understand."

"What?" I breathe in disbelief. "Of course I'd understand. No matter how bizarre your situation might be, it's ok. I'm here to listen."

He continues to shake his head. "No, you really wouldn't understand."

Seriously? First Yoongi, now this? Now my best friend doesn't even trust me to listen to his problems anymore.

In just one day, so much has changed.

"I'm gonna go to the coffee shop, Taehyung." I say sharply. I feel bad for speaking in such a rude tone, but I am already walking briskly towards the house. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Taehyung still sitting on the edge of the bench.

It takes every piece of me to not go run back to him and comfort him, to tell him that no matter what's wrong, I will always be there for him.

Because I feel like he'll just push me away.
