Chapter 4 ✓
That is where Jack lost it.
Everyone gasped as Jack had grabbed Calum by his collar and had him pinned against the wall. The crowd silently watched, unsure of what to do. They hadn't heard what Calum muttered, but, they figured it must've been something terrible to make Jack suddenly act like that.
The teacher yelped, she looked from Calum to Jack, not knowing what to do. My guess is that she is too terrified to get in between the fight. She probably isn't going to come back to this school.
"If you hit me. You'll prove my point," Calum nervously forced out from his tongue.
"Who said I was going to punch you?" Jack tilted his head at Calum as if he had just asked a stupid question.
"Let him go, Jack," I told Jack in a soft voice. It was like what had happened with Aaron and me in the morning, only this time, the roles had been switched with the best friends.
"What did Calum say?" Someone from the crowd whispered loud enough for nearly everyone to hear.
"I don't know, but it must've been horrible."
Jack didn't look back at me, instead, he pulled Calum closer and whispered something to him. Calum clenched his fist together, just like Aaron had done, he looked tense and his eyes reflected fear, fear of Jack.
"Jack," I called him again, tugging on his shirt, he released an angry Calum, pleased with himself and then, turned me around, driving us back to our seat. The class remained silent, surprised by Jack instantly calming down.
Why were they all looking at me with admiration?
"You can get back to your lesson miss, Calum promised he wouldn't disrupt again," Jack smiled. I knew it was fake, though. The teacher tried her best to compose herself, then, went back to teaching from the board. The entire class actually paid attention for the last hour, surprisingly.
"What's with everyone looking at me like that?" I whispered to Jack.
"Don't you get it, Green, they think you're some amazing peacemaker that managed to calm me down when I looked like I was at the point of killing someone."
"What? That's stup-"
"Hush, get used to the spotlight Green, from now on people will admire you and it's all because of me."
"You faked that?" I asked him. Shocked by his statement, he just grinned at me.
"Of course not gem, I really wanted to kill him."
"But-"
"Like I said, you're my guardian angel, you're the light I need during my dark times," He joked.
"That's so cheesy," I laughed.
"You know you love me for it," He winked at me making me playfully punch him in the arm.
The lesson ended quickly and it was finally home time.
Home time.
The time of day I hated the most.
I dragged my way through the hall towards Ivy's class, Jack had to leave early since he has to pick up his little sister and then, his mum from work. It sucked because that meant we couldn't spend any time after school together.
Ivy is always let out late because of her teacher, so, I always spend 10 minutes outside her classroom waiting for her. I leant against the wall with my backpack hanging loosely off my right shoulder and I take out my phone and begin playing colour switch. Jack had shown it to me and I got hooked straight away. After a minute or two, I looked up from my phone because I had lost, brown eyes immediately caught my green eyes. We kept the eye lock for 5 seconds before I finally shouted.
"Why the heck are you looking at me?"
"You were looking at me as well," Aaron mumbled.
"That's because you were looking at me first, what are you a stalker?" I scoffed. He froze at my words. I paused, waiting for him to say something, "Where's the denial? What the hell is wrong with you?"
"I'm not stalking you, we go to the same school. It's a mere coincidence," He finally answered, his face pale, I got closer to him, not to intimidate him, though.
"Why are you pale?" I asked him, I may or may not be a little worried about him, I mean, he still is a kid in my class and I do have the right to show kindness towards him if I feel like it.
"None of your business," He mumbled, covering his face and turning around so he no longer faced me, "Don't use the word stalker so lightly."
"Don't tell me what to do," I snapped, "I can do whatever I want."
"I don't see why you bother to argue with me," He sighed.
"I'm not arguing with you!"
"Yes. Yes, you are." He turned back around, his brown eyes staring at me with that same look he had the first time I talked to him. Seeing them sent that same feeling to run down my back. Those sparks. The anger. I clenched my fist.
His eyes.
They reminded me of him.
"I just can't stand you. At all," I pushed him away and looked down so I didn't have to look in eyes, "Just by looking at you, I get pissed."
He didn't say anything.
It just vexed me even more.
"Jade!" I heard a familiar, silvery voice. I turned around and came eye to eye with my reflection, only she didn't have glasses. She looked from Aaron to me and from her face, I could tell she was worried about the event that may have occurred, but she didn't ask me, "Let's go home."
Ivy didn't say anything to me on our way home, she just talked to Emily. I didn't mind, I didn't want to talk to anyone. Aaron's cold brown eyes flew back into my mind and I remembered every detail. His eyes told a story, one I couldn't figure out, but knew too well.
That's right. They looked like his. That mans.
"Are you okay Jade?" Emily asked me, I saw her glancing down at my hand, and only then did I realise that I had been clenching them. Ivy flashed me a sympathetic look, it's as if she knew what I was thinking about.
Only she didn't.
She didn't know what it felt like.
She wasn't there. Mum didn't die in her arms. She didn't know what it felt like to hold his cold stare.
She didn't know what it felt like.
"We can stay over at Em's for a little bit if you want," Ivy offered.
"Yes!" Emily shouted, grabbing my arm and looking into my eyes, "That would be amazing!"
"I-"
"Please, come on! Come over!" Emily begged me, her blue-grey eyes locking with mine and making it almost impossible to look away.
"Sorry, I just want to be alone," I mumbled.
"Awww," Emily looked disappointed as she let go of my arm, "Maybe next time."
"Yeah, maybe." I forced the corners of my lips to fly up a little.
"Well, I'll be going this way, then," Emily waved at us before she took a turn and walked away. Ivy and I waved after her and shouted our farewells. We watched silently as her back slowly disappeared into the neighbourhood, once it completely disappeared, Ivy turned to me. Her facial expression changed from sympathetic look to a more serious one.
"What happened? What did Aaron say to you?" She asked, so, she did know that Aaron had something to do with it.
"It's not what he said. It's his eyes. They... they look exactly like his."
Ivy realised straight away what I was talking about, she pulled me in for a hug and squeezed me. Just like my mum used to do to us. Until he showed up and ruined everything.
"Come on, let's go home." Ivy forced a smile. I forced one back for her, then, the two of us made our way back home in silence.
I told you that I hated going home. You probably wondered why.
"Welcome home," My gran greeted us with her warm smile. We greeted her back with a similar one as we took off our shoes and hung our blazers on the coat hangers.
"How was school?" She asked us.
"Good," We replied in unison.
"That's good, I'll call you down when dinner is ready," Her smile refused to leave her face for even a second.
Ivy and I nodded our heads and went to our rooms, they were located on the second floor with the bathroom and an extra room, which is not in use, even though it should be. I think it's because it used to belong to my mum.
Ivy is lucky she has her own room, I have to share with a lazy, old lady. I open my door and find her laid across the bed, her legs and her hands spread out, taking up the entire space on the double bed. I walked up to her and poked her in her stomach.
"Wake up old hag," I poked her again when she didn't budge, as soon as I said the word 'hag' she twitched and immediately sat up, then, brought me in for a headlock.
"I dare you to say that again kid," She gave me a noogie.
"Hag! Hag! Hag!" I shouted, kicking my legs and not willing to give up, yet. She released me once she realised there is no point, I grinned, then looked up to meet with her her tired, green eyes.
Mum's eyes.
She was mum's twin sister after all.
"How was school kid?" She changed the subject. I sat on the bed properly next to her and sighed.
"I met a boy-"
"Ooooh, what's he like?" She teased.
"I don't like him, Aunt, It's the opposite really," I sighed, combing my hand through my brown hair, which is even messier now because of her.
"That's what they all say." She grew a mischievous grin on her face.
"No really. He reminds me... of him," I choked out, finding it harder to tell her. She tensed and her eyes widened in shock.
"You don't mean..."
"Yes. Him."
I watched as she forced herself to stay calm. She didn't hate him as much as I did, but, she understood the hatred I had for him. She didn't blame him, but, I did. It's all his fault, If he hadn't... if he hadn't come into our lives, mum would've still been here.
I hate going home. It isn't because I am treated badly at home. It isn't because of the people here. It isn't because I don't like the house. It isn't because of the neighbours.
It's because mum no longer lives with us.
I guess this has been one of the longest chapters. Its funny really, even though its meant to be through the eyes of his bully, it seems that Jack is more of a bully than Jade is. Making a side character more mean than the MC is way easier because I don't have to think about what goes through their head when they hurt someone so easily.
The thing is, even though Jade may not seem like one of those terrible bullies from other stories, such as 'The good girls bad boys,' What she's saying to Aaron is impacting him negatively in many ways, I mean, its not like his thoughts are being read out loud like Jade's. You dont need to punch someone to prove that you're a bully.
There are different forms of bullying after all, some are just taken less seriously than others.

{UPDATE}
Damn, so many typo's and mistakes. Never write a story whilst half-asleep. Oh crap, I just remembered, I'm half-asleep whilst editing this. Dammit, I can't help myself.
