㉘That Won't Happen Again

Jimin yawned as he rolled onto his side, peering at his sleeping boyfriend. He didn't cuddle up to him despite his urge to do so because he knew how grumpy he would be if he woke him up by accident.

He slithered out of the covers and stood there for a moment, scoping the living room through squinted eyes. Something wasn't right. He scratched his head and yawned once again as he made a step towards the bathroom. And right then, he froze as he finally understood what was wrong.

Where's Jeongguk and Taehyung?

His mind was still hazy from sleep as he went to the bathroom real quick to freshen up. Then, he took a look around the house and found the kitchen empty and the two bedroom doors closed, which meant the other boys were still sleeping.

Did they leave or something? He thought as he walked towards the door and opened it as quietly as possible. He went to check if Taehyung's car was still there, and he soon spotted it since it was parked close to the house.

Idly, he took a look inside, and his eyes widened so much he felt as if his eyeballs would pop out at any second. He palmed his mouth in haste to prevent himself from making any kind of noise since all he wanted at that moment was to squeal his heart out.

He dashed back into the house and dropped on his knees above his boyfriend. "Baby, Yoongi, Yoongi, Yoongi!"

He groaned as a response and tried to turn his back to him, but Jimin held him in place. "What do you want?"

"You have to see something, wake up, wake up!"

"I only have to see dreams now. Leave me alone."

"You really have to see this, baby."

Another frustrated grunt was heard by the irritated boy. "What do I have to see exactly?"

"Jeongguk cuddling with his lawyer."

Yoongi's eyes shot open. He whipped his head to the couch but didn't see anything. "Are you messing with me?"

"Obviously they're not here, you dummy. They're in Taehyung's car."

"Holy fuck." He wrenched the blanket away and scrambled to get on his feet, scuttling towards the car with his boyfriend. He inched closer with careful moves and peeked inside, only to see exactly what Jimin said; Jeongguk and Taehyung all cuddled up and still sleeping peacefully. "What the hell..."

"You can't deny that they're cute, though. Look how Taehyung is clutching his shirt even in his sleep," Jimin cooed as he continued staring at the two boys through fond eyes.

"How did this even happen?"

"I don't know. We should wake up the others too!" Jimin grinned at his idea and was ready to leave when his boyfriend immobilized him with a gentle grip on his hand.

"Look, baby, yes, they're cute and stuff, but we don't know if Taehyung wants Namjoon and Hoseok to see this. Maybe he wants to keep it a secret for whatever reason."

"You're right." Jimin sighed softly. He was so excited he didn't even think about that. "Then we should wake them up so they won't notice they're missing."

"Yes. Wake them up."

"Wait, why me?"

"You found them."

"Yeah, but I can't wake them up. You wake them up."

"I'm not going anywhere near the inside of that car. Only God knows what they did in there yesterday."

"I think we know too," Jimin whispered, and both chortled.

"Let's just knock on the window and run."

"We'll scare them!"

"Do you want to wake them up then?"

"What the hell are you doing here?"

As they were bickering, they didn't perceive the door opening and Jeongguk scowling at them, still beside the older boy. Both of them gasped and jolted back in surprise, Jimin unconsciously cowering behind his boyfriend. "You guys are really cute," Jimin uttered with an awkward smile, his head peeping out from Yoongi's shoulder.

"You should get inside before the others wake up." Yoongi spanked Jimin's thigh, silently asking him to stop talking.

"Yeah, I'll wake him. Go away." Jeongguk closed the door in the softest way possible and let his eyes travel on Taehyung’s sleeping, halcyon face, feeling his chest rise and fall at a steady, slow rhythm. Although he wanted to stay there and watch him sleep a bit more, he ran his fingers through his soft hair with a smile as he called his name.

Taehyung hummed faintly and furrowed his brows as he hugged whatever he was holding tighter.

"We have to wake up, Taehyung," he whispered once again, caressing his hand this time.

Gradually, Taehyung became aware that what he was holding wasn't his usual plush, poofy pillow. He peeked through one eye, wary, and the blurry sight of Jeongguk gazing at him came to his senses.

His eyes bulged as he jerked away, causing his back and head to slam against the seat. He grimaced in pain from the impact and instantly held the back of his head as a whine escaped his lips.

"What the fuck, Tae?" Jeongguk breathed out as he pried his hand away and replaced it with his. He rubbed soothing circles on the aching spot on his head, not failing to notice his piercing gaze. "I mean Taehyung, fine, whatever," he muttered lowly and caressed his head a few more times.

"We fell asleep."

"We did."

"I mean, we just fell asleep. We didn't want that to happen, right?" Taehyung sat straighter in his seat, wincing at how sore his body felt.

"Right." Memories of what happened yesterday and especially before they fell asleep came running into Jeongguk's mind. "We should go back before anyone wakes up. Actually, Yoongi and Jimin have already seen us, so don't freak out again when you see they're awake."

"I didn't freak out," Taehyung mumbled with a pout while avoiding eye contact.

"Yeah." A bitter snicker flew off Jeongguk's mouth as he reached for his bag.

They wordlessly walked back to the house, and they saw the two boys, who caught them earlier, lounge on the couch once they entered, watching TV, nonchalant. "Good morning," Jimin chirped with a sweet smile and directed his gaze at the TV again.

"Good morning." Taehyung forced a smile and then hurried to the bathroom with his head hung low.

The three of them eyed the lawyer until the very moment he disappeared, and the lovebirds snapped their heads to Jeongguk. "Quick, spill."

"Jimin, it's too early in the morning and I need coffee to function," he murmured as he dragged his feet to the kitchen, and of course, the two boys trailed behind him.

"It's past twelve, and we've already made coffee." Jimin grabbed a mug to pour some coffee in it and placed it on the kitchen table. "Now spill."

Jeongguk heaved a deep sigh, plopping down on a chair, and blew on his coffee. "We talked, we fucked, and fell asleep. Okay?"

"Yeah, but like who initiated it? Did you talk to him when we fell asleep yesterday or did he?"

"It doesn't really matter."

"Will it happen again?"

Jeongguk raised his still puffy eyes, ready to reply, and he spotted Taehyung standing somewhat close to them. "I think it will," he said in a meek tone, maintaining eye contact with the lawyer.

Jimin squeaked in response. "Do you know how adorable it was? Taehyung was clutching your shirt in his sleep and his face was smooshed against your chest."

"That won't happen again," Jeongguk spat out. "We just fell asleep. Right, Taehyung?"

Unaware of the lawyer's presence, the two flinched in surprise at his last inquiry. "Ah, Taehyung! Don't pay attention to Jimin." Yoongi tittered as he grasped his boyfriend's hand and tugged him along towards the living room.

The older boy stayed motionless as Jeongguk nipped at his coffee. With tentative steps, he neared him, poured some coffee into a mug, and then perched next to him. "Okay, yes, I freaked out, but it was just so sudden to wake up next to you."

"I know," he simply said with a soft nod. "So are we good?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Okay then. Let's sit with the others."

"Wait." Taehyung laid a delicate hand on his shoulder. "You will do what you said, right?"

"What?"

"You know, make it up to me for the six days you didn't call." Taehyung nibbled his bottom lip, his gaze drifting elsewhere.

"If you want me to." His lips twitched into a mild smile, and upon seeing Taehyung nod rather vigorously, he dropped his head as a faint chuckle emitted from his mouth. "Good because I want that too."

"Good," he whispered, still smiling. "Thank you for yesterday by the way. You know, for listening and talking to me."

"You can always talk to me, Taehyung. I told you, I'm a good listener."

"Maybe you are after all." A wide smile crept over his face as they both chuckled. "Let's go." They rose to their feet, but the moment they peeled their gaze away from each other, they seized up.

Hoseok and Namjoon stood there, gaping at the two, round-eyed. "Good morning?" Hoseok drawled, hesitant.

"Um, good morning." Taehyung released a chock-full of awkwardness laugh, took a hold of his mug, and vanished to the living room.

"Well, this is awkward." Jeongguk let out a similar chuckle, scratching his nape, and followed the lawyer.

The two stunned boys shared a confused look. "What was that?" asked Hoseok in a mumble.

"I really have no idea." Namjoon sighed and then went to make some more coffee since they were running out.

Everyone was awake by now and seated in the living room with a cup of coffee in their hands. "So how did everyone sleep?" Hoseok questioned as his gaze roamed on his friends, waiting for someone to reply.

As some of them answered with something short like 'okay' or 'good', two certain boys stayed mute.

"How about you, Hoseokie?" Seokjin asked.

"Good. Actually, we talked with Dohyun until late and we kinda, you know, are together now." Hoseok couldn't hide his wide smile as he wrapped his arm around Dohyun's shoulder.

"You finally confessed? I'm so happy for you!" Jimin clapped his hands in excitement.

"Actually no. Thanks to Jeongguk who talked to me yesterday, I found some courage to do it myself." Dohyun smiled at his friend, silently thanking him once more.

"Oh, that's why you were together yesterday," Taehyung found himself uttering under his breath.

"Yes," Jeongguk, who was the only one who heard him, said without making eye contact with him.

"Finally, guys!" Namjoon exclaimed. "Now we have three couples in our small group."

"Three and a half," Jimin mumbled and received a jab in his ribs by his boyfriend.

"What was that?" Hoseok asked, brows creasing in confusion.

"Nothing, I said we can triple date!" Jimin tittered and slunk a little lower in his seat.

"Yay!" Seokjin whooped as he threw his arms around Namjoon who accepted him in his hug in a heartbeat.

"I'm seriously gonna vomit," Jeongguk murmured and lowered his head, a disapproving grimace etching on his features.

"Hopeless romantic and a big softie," Taehyung singsonged close to his ear with a derisive smile, which elicited a snort from him.

"You deserve some good spanking for mocking me, you know."

"Can't wait, hyung," Taehyung played along, and although he replied in a whisper, his tone was quite provocative.

"Aren't you still sore?"

"Yes, but you'll take care of me, right?"

"What are you two talking about over there?" Seokjin just detected the two boys whispering to each other and his curiosity took over him.

"Nothing, I asked him if he's okay because he had a headache yesterday," Jeongguk said, indifferent, and took another sip of his coffee.

"Well, we drank a lot yesterday. You should drink a lot of water if your head still hurts." Seokjin offered him a sympathetic smile.

"I'm okay now. And actually, I have to go. I have to get some work done so I can have my afternoon free."

"Why? What are you gonna do in the afternoon?" Hoseok asked, eager to know.

"Nothing, I just want to rest." Taehyung refrained from meeting their gaze as he slid out of his seat and grabbed his things.

He said goodbye to his friends and then drove home. Before he even got to enter his house, his phone beeped, and he fished it out of his pocket.

Jeongguk: Is seven okay with you?

Taehyung: What about six?

Jeongguk: Too eager to meet me, pup?

Taehyung: Yes, hyung. Your pup already misses you.

He didn't get an answer right away like before, and so he stepped into the house and got ready to take a shower. He waited a few more minutes but still didn't get a reply.

Taehyung: Did I say something wrong?

And he waited some more, but got no reply whatsoever. With a sigh, he undressed, and the moment he got into the tub, he heard another beep. Hastily, he went to grab his phone and took a look at the message.

Jeongguk: No pup. Talk to you later.

Taehyung frowned at the blunt text and carelessly threw his phone onto the washing machine. He's definitely not a big softie, he thought, another sigh passing through his lips, and finally began to shower.

Fully dressed and clean after a while, he cooked something to eat, and then worked for a few hours, wanting to get everything done as fast as possible and have everything ready for the younger boy.
