"Alright, so tell me, how'd you end up here?" Dustin turned on his side to face Puck.

"Same as you." Puck shrugged.

"You were trapped in the Bathroom of a burning building?"

"No," Puck blinked, unamused, "I was at Rich's party."

"Wait. Wait- wait." Dustin sat up, shaking his head, "You go to my school then?"

"Duh," Puck chuckled, "I even signed up for the after school play- actually, no, that's a lie. My mom said I had to actually participate in community activities." Puck did quotation marks with her fingers in a mocking manor.

"Oh that makes sense now!" Dustin gasped as if a lightbulb had lit up in his mind.

"What?"

"Your name right, you were like- destined for musical theater." Dustin grinned.

Puck face palmed, "Oh my god Dustin not you too."

Dustin giggled, "What do you mean?"

"I legitimately got the role of Puck in the school play."

Dustin burst out laughing.

"Shut up!" Puck hissed back through an embarrassed look.

Dustin let out various chuckles before his voice died down, "That's awesome."

"I'd say differently." Puck muttered through crossed arms, "How am I supposed to memorize all those lines? Why couldn't I just be a background character or something." She sighed, "It totally sucks."

"Hey at least now you might get noticed." Dustin shrugged.

"But I don't want to be noticed." Puck uncrossed her arms to put her hands to her face with a groan, "At least when you're as audible as air you're not given one look or another- now I'll be seen as 'that kid who fucked up the school play'."

Dustin looked at Puck with round eyes, now here was a person that got it. Here was a person he might actually be able to relate to...maybe they could actually be friends- Dustin gave a small smile at the thought- and that's when his phone buzzed.

Dustin hadn't even realize he had his phone. However, it was indeed his ringtone of 'space unicorns' that was playing and he needed to find it fast before that song kept playing. He scrambled around looking for his phone.

"And you're making fun of me?" Puck raise an eyebrow.

Dustin shot her a glare.

"Sorry, Ponytail, didn't mean it." Puck pointed to the buzzing object on Dustin's rollaway table.

Dustin muttered a small Thanks before grabbing the object and answering the phone, "Hello?"

"DUSTIN!"

"Jesus Christ, chill out." Dustin hissed at the blaring voice in his phone.

"OH SOR-sorry. Hey, it's Jenna, from school!"

Dustin's face felt hot for a moment, "J-Jenna? Oh- oh yeah- yeah from school." He played off his stutter causally, "So uh, h-how you doing?"

"I heard you were one of the people in the fire!" Jenna shrieked into the phone.

"The fire...?- ah yes! The f-fire!" Dustin nodded, "Mhm, yeah I'm fine though." He smiled at Jenna's concern- then-

"What happened- is Jake okay? Is Rich okay? I heard Rich is dead and that he started the fire- but was he drunk or stone or something- or maybe he was just sleep deprived or-"

"Er- pretty sure the little dude barely touched a drop." Dustin shrugged, heck if he knew, he'd been in the bathroom when the fire started, but he couldn't just leave Jenna Rolland hanging.

"Thanks, Dustin!!" Jenna hung up a few seconds later.

Dustin shook his head with a smile at the girl's enthusiasm, then slipping the phone into the side pocket of his jeans.

"So who was that, your girlfriend or something?"

"Do you have no boundaries or what?" Dustin chuckled.

Puck shrugged, "Hey, don't blame me, if we're going to be friends you'd better get used to my snark." She smiled.

Dustin smiled in return, "Well, it was Jenna Rolland for your information." He straightened up a bit at his attempts to brag.

"Gossip gal?" Puck blinked.

"Uh, yeah, you could...call her that I suppose..."

"Do you usually stutter?"

Dustin frowned, "No."

"Well you did when you were chatting with chatty over there." Puck grinned.

"What are you implying?" Dustin squinted.

"You know what I'm implying- but I'm not absolutely cruel so I won't voice my thoughts." Puck shrugged once again before sinking into the hospital bed.

"Well I don't have anything to comeback at that." Dustin rolled his eyes with a smirk.

"Doesn't need a comeback, just a response." Puck smirked in return.

"I think us being trapped in a room is good for snark procedures- now I can get used to it so we can actually be friends at school." Dustin felt that familiar, awkward silence hang in the air once again and felt his palms get the slightest bit sweaty, had he said something wrong? Did Puck not want to be school fiends? Did he just jeopardize what they had going here and-

"That's true. I'm a lot less snarky at school though."

Dustin let out a small sigh of relief, "S-so you want to be school friends?" He tried to sound casual, he needed this, he needed a friend- he needed to be able to sit with someone at lunch and not just eat below the oak tree on the upper-field.

"Sure, why not? You seem like a pretty okay dude, ponytail."

"...It's Dustin..."

"Yeah but ponytail sounds like a cuter nickname?" Puck smirked.

"Sh-shut up!" Dustin squeaked.

"Aw you're stuttering again." Puck giggled.

Dustin crossed his arms with a huff, "You're mean."

"Aw, come on, I'm only kidding."

"Do I get to call you sprite then?" Dustin raised an eyebrow.

"Try that and see what happens."

Dustin shut his mouth.

Puck sighed, "You honestly just need to lighten up a bit, ponytail." She smiled, "And I'll help you do just that."

"And how would that be?"

"If you actually stick around me long enough, you'll get used to my snarky remarks and hey- maybe that'll help you be more chill."

"Do I want to be more chill?"

"You need to be more chill."
