☆ ˚ ༘ ⋆ the game ended with your school winning, as expected. you were too exhausted to even think about how they won, and how great connie was. he was definitely going pro after college, any team would be extremely lucky to have a talented, and amazing player like him on their team.
"you're tired? you hardly did anything." armin complained, arms crossed over his chest as the two of you walked at a comfortable pace, although you were much slower than him. he matched your pace, which made you feel like you were walking even slower. at least he didn't want to leave you, but damn.
"shut up..." you request, fingers wrapped around your arms. "can i wear your jacket?"
"yeah, of course." he said, before pulling the thick fabric from his arms. he handed it to you, never stopping to look elsewhere. you were looking down at your phone, not paying armin much mind. well, that was a bit hurtful. he was starting to think you just didn't like him at all. it was fair if you did, but it was still cruel.
"so, now that you've performed do you like cheerleading?" armin starts, figuring some small conversation with you wouldn't hurt. you were sticking your hands through his jacket, before zipping the fabric up around your body.
"you don't have to pretend to be interested in my life." you say, adjusting the straps of your bag so it was a little looser around your frame. so armin was right, you didn't favor him at all. it made sense, you hardly ever spoke to one another. it was strange, you talked to him a bunch that day he drove you to school for the first time.
"you're right, i'm not interested. but i wanted to talk to you, instead of it just being quiet." armin admits, practically fighting to not roll his eyes at your random attitude. for once he was being nice, and this was his treatment?
"oh. well, it's okay. after tonight, i can see myself doing it more often. mainly to see the games though, i already know your crazy fan is gonna find something to criticize me about later. that's the un-fun part." was she talking about kenna? who was armin kidding, of course she was.
it would just be the two of you tonight, since there was an after-party for the game. connie likely wouldn't be back until it was morning time, especially since he had no classes scheduled for tomorrow. who knew what he would do? armin wouldn't mind picking him up if he needed a ride home.
"oh..."
the two of you finally made it outside, after walking in silence for a bit. two other guys ended up walking out right after you, whistling and winking at you before walking away. armin would narrow his brows, cocking his head down so that you could eventually look at him. you seemed confused. "what?"
"those guys catcalled you. you don't care?"
"not really.. it's actually insulting i got catcalled in this hoodie, it's not flattering at all." you say, referring to armin's jacket. armin rolled his eyes, although he knew you were just trying to brighten up the mood.
"hilarious." armin says, tone bland enough to be mistaken for unseasoned rice.
"armin!" you wouldn't even turn to hear the voice that called out the blonde's name, still paying attention to your phone; mainly because you saw it coming, and you weren't really interested. stupidly, armin would turn around, wishing he didn't— until it was way too late for him.
"i didn't see you at all today. did you watch me cheer today?" you never heard her sound so nice and kind, must've been the way she acted in front of armin only. at this point, he just needs to give the girl a chance, damn! you were starting to feel bad, for her and armin. she was the written definition of desperate.
"yeah, uh..."
"there's an after-party. you should come! oh... you're here." suddenly your attention snapped on to the girl, who was by no surprise kenna, who walked beside iclyn. iclyn waved at you frantically with a big smile. was she high or something? ugh.
"hey, [name]!" she says, and you awkwardly wave back at her. you could smell a hint of alcohol, was it peach flavored maybe?
"no thanks. i got some work to catch up on after this." armin lies, his attention shifting over to you.
"but [name] probably wants to see her boyfriend!" iclyn whines, and kenna nods; reluctantly, as if they agreed. boyfriend? armin wouldn't be surprised if you were dating anyone, but seriously? did you really consider dating someone from your school? you seemed too good for that, and the guys at this college weren't really all that up to par.
"boyfriend? you're dating someone?" armin asked, although it wasn't any of his business. why did he go out of his way to question that, anyway? it's not like he cared, it was instinctive, since he was so shock-driven. how come you never talked about who you were dating? aside from attending classes, practice, and running errands, you didn't leave the house either.
before you could speak, iclyn does. did she have to be so annoying? "yeah, it's only a matter of time before she's with connie—"
oh, they meant connie. "perfect match!" kenna finished, smiling brightly. she kept trying to push the narrative about you and connie, just to make sure armin remained off-limits. wait, were you wearing his hoodie? she recognized that from one of his pictures on instagram, that looked like a perfect replica. with the logo of the college on the front, and his name on the back.
you remained quiet, unsure of what to say.
kenna suddenly got an idea. "you should go to the party, [name]. it'll be your first party of the year too, and we all know you're gonna pick connie up later, armin. it'll save you a trip." she volunteered, a pretty smile on her full lips.
"they'll just let me in the party?" why in the hell were you even considering this? armin wasn't sure how he should go on about this, he wasn't even the partying type. she was right though, he would pick connie up if he got drunk, which was more often than usual.
"no shit, you're a cheerleader." iclyn mutters, leaning on kenna's side.
"armin are you fine with going?" you'd ask him, tucking your phone into your purse.
"no." he honestly answers, irritation evident in his expression. "you just said you were tired, now you wanna go to a party? do you hear yourself?" he tried his hardest not to be incredibly blunt tonight, but the entire situation was annoying. first he gets stopped by kenna, and now you're talking about going to a party? having to talk to her ass was already hard enough, he could hardly stand being in her presence. there was no way in hell he was attending.
"true... eh, let's just go home. i'll try making it to the next one though." you say, with sarcasm clear as ever in your voice. you never even wanted to go to the party in the first place, you just wanted armin to be upfront about not wanting to show up.
"again, leave me alone." armin says, with a subtle glare in his eyes. kenna would flinch, guilt-stricken. it was hard to speak after that, and she could only watch in silence as you walked away with armin. as expected, the back of that damn jacket you had on said his name.
"fucking bitch. shit, i need a joint." kenna mutters, looking over at iclyn, "let's go to that party, i need to talk to connie."
"what you gon' do about [name]? didn't expect that reaction from armin... i'd just let that shit die, and get with connie. you could have him if you tried." iclyn encourages, although kenna just seemed to roll her eyes, and grow even more annoyed.
"i've known connie for years, trust me; i'm not his type." she'd tell iclyn, once the two of them finally reached her vehicle.
