C H A P T E R 3:
He got swift legs.

“So you're going to try out for the football team,” I repeated what Calum just said when he parked his car on the parking lot. Dad approved that we should go together so that Calum would make us friends. He seems comfortable with Calum and Calum just earned my father's respect. Dad don't easily come open with the idea of me being with boys, but for Calum, he just dropped me like I was sort of a hot pie.
“Well, I trained hard enough for it. We got our little team back in Adelaide and my Mum still allows me to do such thing so I suppose I should still give it a go,” he explained as he unzipped his seatbelt, get the keys out of the keyhole and stood up. I did the same and pushed his truck lightly, not wanting to hurt his Baby.
“If you want to see us in the try outs, don't forget to call us. And besides, we have someone who is eager to see you in those balls.” I said nonchalantly but Calum gave me a dirty look. Wait. “I mean she's eager to see you playing with those balls on your feet!” I blushed in embarassment as we headed towards Mikey and Jessie's lockers.
“Oh, sure.” he said still giving me that sly grin.
“Oh come on Calum, I am not in the mood playing dirty games with you.” I said as we continued to walk in such a slow pace, entering the dimly lit hallway with pack of students with their busy doings.
From the entrance, I can see Shannon, the girl with her punk styled hair. She's so drug dependant that any councillor here in this school would put her in seminars about drugs and what's the effect. I can also see Hannah, the beauty Queen. She often likes to wear doll shoes, doll dress and anything just to make her look like a doll. Then there goes Peter Handersburg. He was the rumored boyfriend—ex boyfriend of Luan. He still goes making out with her and does one night stands with any people who has holes in their bums. I don't see the point why Luan likes him a lot.
Then, there goes Luan. The intelligent head of Cheerleading squad. Luan and I have bad blood with each other. I am the elected president of Photojournalism team in campus and she also want to run in it. Now she calls me some names and also accussed me for stealing her boyfriend—ex boyfriend.
“Run,” I muttered as I stare at the hallway, seeing the pack of Luan's bitches approaching us.
“Why? I don't want to.” he said, barely stopping every time he utter a word.
“Just do what I say befo—” Before I could even finish saying my instruction, Calum sprinted somewhere and I was the one who seemed to follow him. I also made sure to bump all of the bitches in just one time. Oh God. Thank you for giving me a Calum Hood.
“Stop running!” Luan yelled over her normal voice with her oh-so-annoyed face.
“Why would I?” I asked as I stuck my tongue out and ran to Calum who was hiding in the Janitor's closet.
Luan roamed all over the hallway making me giggle. She do look like a doofus running in a short skirt.
“That was one hell of a run.” Calum panted as he held me close to him, feeling his warmth.
“Let me see if the coast is clear. We don't want to be late for our Chemistry class.” I said cutting the awkwardness in the air. When I squinted my eyes in the parallel blinds, there was no signs of girls in a petite skirt that barely runs on their thighs. I sighed and finally made my way out of Janitor's closet.
And that's what I do. Wrong.

Tick tock.
Three minutes left before I can finally go home. I called Kristen for a ride home because Dad isn't available right now. He's busy working his ass off all night tonight so it means I am alone in our house until midnight.
I am currently sitting on the bleachers, squinting my eyes to reach the fast runner aka Calum Hood. He have the ball in his feet and did I told you that he play well? Like, really well. He didn't force me to come here but I just do so.
After almost getting a physical assault coming from Luan, Calum saved me before she could lay her filthy fingers on me. Luan was stunned to see Calum in my back. And I was too. From being a total dork aka cutie big nosed boy, his aura began to be so dark, the one that once you stare on his eyes and accidentally make an eye to eye contact? You'll be sorry by not drowning and surfacing back to consciousness. And when he started to clench his fists, his nose started to blow smokes like an animated bull ready to aim his horns on the opponent. You wouldn't want to see Calum Hood like this. Not like this.
“Back off,” Calum spoke in a subtle manner but you can actually feel your soul starting to shrink little by little. His cold stare can actually leave you harmless on the outside, but gives you panic attack inside. If I am Luan, I will just wish for physical harm. Luan just laughed nervously and grabbed my arm. “I told you to back off!” he snapped and Luan stopped gripping my arm and then sprinted towards the nearest turn she might see.
“Go Calum!” I yelled earning a warm smile from him. He glanced at me and mouthed ‘Watch me’ as he quickly sprinted towards the opponent who has the ball and stole it from him and then he scored the goal! He's so quick!
“Nice one,” Kristen said as she sat down beside me, she's grinning from ear to ear as she have her straight hair curled to the tips and light make up. “So he's the new boy?”
I nodded my head and then diverted my gaze at Calum who's shaking his hand with the new coach that he was about to be with.
“Do you like him?” she asked as I absentmindedly nodded, then she giggled and I quickly responded.
“No! I didn't mean that! I mean I like him as a friend, but not like like!”
“Yeah, sure.” Kristen said, still unconvinced. She let out a small laugh but immediately stopped when she saw Calum approaching us.
“So, you must be Calum,” Kristen retorted as Calum paused in front of us with a questioning face. “I'm Kristen, a senior and I am Mackie's older sister. Just kidding. I'm her bestfriend.”
Calum flashed her a smile and then she grabbed his hands for it to shake. I can see it in his eyes that he's kind of scared to meet her, and he find her eccentric and sticks her nose on a subject way too much.
“We must go now. Wanna come for a ride?” Calum asked, I shook my head no.
“I have Kristen for a ride and you kind of smell,” I wrinkled my nose and he shuffled my hair. Damn. I spent 2 hours in the bathroom just fixing it for Michael! “Hey, by the way. After you shower and do your stuffs, go to my place. We're having movie marathon with Michael and Jessie. And also Kristen. If, you like.”
“Sure.” he said as he grabbed his keys out of his pocket and walked his way to the parking lot.
“By the way, do you see Georgiana around?” Calum asked, I shook my head no but in reality, Georgiana just left with Luke Hemmings, the football captain. Geo and Luke seem to be a good couple, but Calum just admitted that he likes Geo. A lot.
“If you see her around, just tell me and give her my number. I want to ask her out a little bit sooner.” Calum smiled as he continued to walk his way to the parking lot.
Okay, I must tell him that Geo is off the market.
