Blue
After working in the shop all day I was bone tired. I kicked myself because we were so busy that I couldn't make the fire call from earlier. I hate missing a page. My head has been stuck in a 69 Camaro and I had to get done. I'm glad I'm finally home.
It's been a long day. I head for the shower to wash the grease, grime and sweat away. I need a nice cold beer and time to wind down.
Luckily no one's at home so I can relax in peace and finally enjoy some quiet time. After my second beer I get up to grab another, when I hear the clicking sound at the front door. I turn to look as I see Forest and a woman. That in itself was strange. He never brings women home. I take another look and my jaw hits the floor.
"Lannie?" No fucking way! It's been years. I'm swept up in a storm of emotions. I run to her hug her picking her up and swinging her around. They're talking around me but I can't get my mind to focus on any actual words that are forming. All I see is her. The love of my life returns in a heartfelt sweep. Knocking me mindless and dumbfounded.
I hear she was the call out fire from earlier today and she lost her home. Now I truly kick myself for not responding to the call.
Then I think of Denny. His anger toward her and all that has happened in the past.
"What about Denny?" Should of kept my damn shut there. Forest looks aggressively at me.
"Fuck Denny!" Well damn, this just got interesting.
Then Lannie goes off on a spill saying she can get a hotel room. Not gonna happen. She just walked back into our lives; by some miracle and I for one will not let it pass by. I turn to look at her and I remember the moment I fell head over heals in love with her.

"Blue stop! You're going to get me in trouble." She's 14, were at a football game at school. Both of us were under the bleachers. I snuck her out of her house so she could go. She never gets to go anywhere. The schools football team was headed for the state championship and Denny was playing tonight. It broke her heart when her brother told her no; that she couldn't go. So I volunteered to sneak her out and get her back home before her brother could find out.
Im tickling her and her soft drink keeps spilling over. The game hasn't started but the seats are full so we headed behind the bleachers for a shortcut through the crowd.
I backed her up against the back of the bleachers and started tickling her cause she just seemed so sad and I wanted to see her smile.
Then the giggles die down. She looks up at me. Her face alight with humor. Then we go quiet. I look in her eyes. Reach for hips pull her to me and kiss her. A deep wanting kiss. My hand goes to the back of her neck and I pull her closer; deepening the kiss. Our tongues clash and at that second; I fall head over heels in love. But she's young, a bit younger than me and I know I have to wait. So I pull back.
She's breathing heavy and looks at me like I'm hero. I step back. Trying to come with a plausible excuse as to why I kissed her.
She just smiles, grabs my wrist and we walk off to find a seat.
I know in that instant, that she will definitely be mine and I smile.

I can't help the smirk I have on my face of the memory.
"Whats so funny?" She ask me. I just shake my head.
"Nothing pippy, you're fine, you can stay her as long as you want." And I will make damn sure of it.
Then we hear the door open
"What the fuck! Why is she here?" Denny screams racing up to Lannie; mad as hell.
Forest explains to Denny the situation she's in and what's happened. He's furious. I just don't get the guy. I block him out; he's always throwing a temper tantrum. Being the youngest of us, mom spoiled him nonstop. Forest and I are always trying to calm him down. To no avail. He finishes with his hissy fit and goes to his room slamming the door. I didn't even catch what he said. I tend to just block him out. It's best for my sanity.
I look at Lannie and she's smiling. She doesn't let him get to her which is good. Maybe we'll be able to keep her around if she doesn't let him rile her.
"Wanna drink pippy?" She nods and we head to the kitchen. I grab us all a beer and we sit at the kitchen table. I'm next to Lannie and Forest is across from us.
"So tell me what have you been these last four years?"
She tells me about school, her being a CNA; how she loves her job and she's training to be a nurse. That surprised me. She always talked about being a writer. She's has tons of notebooks with stories and poems. She has a natural talent. Never pegged her for the nurse type.
"How's your parents?" She stiffens at that, Forest is the one who tells me their divorce and her mom lives in Pittsburgh now. That's not a surprise to me. They never seemed like caring parents either way.
"What about Derek? How is he?" I don't really care how the asshole is, never liked him. Just trying to make conversation.
"Can we talk about him later?" She yawns "I'm a bit tired." She's deflecting but I let it go. I'll find out sooner or later.
She tells us goodnight and heads to her room. I look at Forest he stares at her till she closes the door.
"Wanna fill me in?" I ask him. He sighs and takes a swig.
"Her mom cheated with that guy Carl. Remember him?" I do vaguely.
"The funeral shop guy?" He nods.
"Yea, her dad caught them together, it's been going on for years apparently." Ok then, never saw that coming.
"She hasn't talked to her mom in almost two years. Rarely talks to her dad. She won't tell me about her brother either." I noticed that. Something must of went down.
"Why wouldn't dad or mom tell us any of this?" They still live in the same town. The same house. Surely they must know what went on.
"You know them, they're crazy about her. They wouldn't tell us anything anyway. After the way her and Denny ended things. They tend not to bring her up." Yea cause he's mom's favorite son. She wouldn't do anything to bring him heartache. So not mentioning Lannie, isn't a surprise.
"True but still, they could've told of something. Maybe we should ask them. Find out what the deal with her brother is?" I'm itching to know. Our parents shouldn't keep stuff like that from us.
"They won't say anything. You know them. Tight lipped and all. We can look on the internet, see if we can find anything. Something may pop up."
"Or we could just ask her. If she's going to be living here. She may open up and just tell us." I doubt it. She seemed tense and locked up when we talk about him.
"I don't think she will open up anytime soon. Let's go in Dennys office and see what we can find. We may get lucky." So we head to his office. Firing up the computer. I'm searching for what seems like hours and nothing is popping up. I'm get frustrated. So is Forest.
"We're just going have to ask her." Trying not to let my irritation show.
"Good luck with that." Yea I know.
"When did she tell you all this anyway?" He smiles. Sits on the sofa and leans back.
"I took her on a date." Well hells bells! He finally made a move.
"How did it go?"
"Fantastic." With a shit eating grin lighting up his face.
"You kissed her?" Lucky fucker! He's the only one of us that has never had the opportunity to get close to her.
"So, how was it?" I remember our kiss. It was fucking life changing.
"Beyond my expectations. My world change. My dick got hard. Felt like my balls were going to explode! She's addicting and....I want more." Well shit! He's practically enamored.
"We can't push her to hard Forest, you remember the night Denny fucked it up for all of us?" The night that changed our lives.
"Yea, yea I do! It's not gonna happen this time. Denny is not pushing her away!" Let's hope night. That night destroyed all of our plans and literally started our downfall.

We're on the couch in our living room. I'm beside Denny, Lannie is beside him with Forest on the other side of her. We're eating popcorn and watching Grease. We snuck her in so she could join us. Mom and dad are out, so it's just us.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Denny ask her out of the blue. Wtf? The jerk! He knows how we all feel. What is he doing?
"Sure." She giggles and they kiss. I look over at Forest and he has the same expression written on his face.
"But we can't tell Derek!" She tells him. He scares her. Denny nods his head.
"We won't, I promise!" Then we hear banging at the door. We look over, I'm about to stand but the door slams open. It's Derek!
"Get your ass home Lannie, now!" He's furious, she looks terrified. She stands, bows her head and says bye while walking to the door. He grabs her arm and pushes her forward. Smirking at us then slams the door.
We all jump up furious at what he and Denny has done.
"What the hell Denny? Why did you ask her that? You know how we all feel! You know what we had planned! How could you?" I scream. Pissed is an understatement.
"What? That's what we all want right? For her to be with us? What's the big deal?" He can't be this stupid!
"We had it planned out Denny. You know me and Blue can't doing anything with her because of her age! We were going to wait remember? Now you fucked it up!" Yells Forest. We're both looking at him like he lost his damn mind. He just doesn't seem to get it.
He storms off to his room and slams the door. Spoilt ass brat!
"What do we do now?" I ask Forest. Combing my fingers through my hair.
"Fuck if I know! He just ruined everything, like he always does! You fucker!" He screams that to Denny. I feel like punching his dumb ass. He just destroyed our world.
"Fuck off!" Yells Denny from his room. What the hell are we going to do now!?
———————
"There's nothing we can do about the past. Maybe now we can make it right. Denny does not get to dictate my life. She's stays and that is that!" Forest means it too. About damn time, I think to myself.
"I'll talk with Denny, I don't know if it would do much good, but I'll try. In the meantime we keep Lannie busy and away from him. Just for awhile." Till he sees reason anyway.
"Yea good luck with that." Yea I'm gonna need it. But he's not running her off this time.
This time she's staying!
