The Cook
Before you dive in, you need to know - I am a great cook.
That out of the way, let us now dive into the tale for the day, the day of disasters in the kitchen.
It was a bright snowy day and I knew it was something special before my feet hit the ground. I took out some pastry dough hiding in the fridge for a couple of days along with some vegetables and cheese. You guessed it, stuffed puff pastry was the breakfast for the day. My hands were itching to take out the new chopper for a ride. It was a smooth ride and in no time I had chopped all the veggies - onions, a bit of carrot, and some cabbage. Mix- mix, layer with a generous amount of cheese and in the oven the pastry dough goes. Easy-peasy.
Then I think why not make cabbage rice? It was the new healthy thing on the block. I do not feel the need to check a recipe or two, this ain't my first rodeo. The new chopper is too small, so I take out the bigger one. The chopper chops my cabbage too fine and needless to say I have a Greek tragedy in my hands. Somehow, I grab the chopper blades wrong and get a taste of their sharp edge. In the oven there is another nasty surprise waiting, along with a smell of burnt veggies and dough that reach my nose. I was too generous with my vegetables and cheese and not the dough fails to rise. The stuffed puff pastry is both raw and burnt at the same time.
My daughter goes smiling to school with bread and butter along with a huge slice of cake and my husband can't stop laughing. I learn a lesson, no matter what I put on the table from the kitchen, I am a genius born to save the day !!
