(Jan 17, 2018) Ask me Anything

This chapter was requested for some reason, and it's fun so I'll do it. Ask me anything about being a reviewer (or anything else) in the comments. I'll answer the most compelling in the chapter body and put my other responses in the comments.

What's your favorite book on here?

Ughhhh that's such a hard question there are so many I really liked.

My tops in no particular order (finished books only):

1. The Edge of the World

2. The Boy in the Woods

3. Magic's Minister

4. Magicka

5. After Humanity

6. Birthright

7. We're All Human

This list isn't in any particular scoring order, sometimes books that get low scores were still really enjoyable reads (though I usually indicate when I liked a book more than its score would normally dictate).

How did this book start?

I got bored one day and thought it would be fun. Here we are.

How do you find the time to do this?

Magic.

In all honesty just good time management. I preread and write/publish on breaks at work a lot. I'm not in school anymore which helps.

What do you look like?

One of these is me. I might actually be a sentient puppy.

What's the difference between a critique and a review?

Critiques are longer and more in-depth, and typically go through every aspect of a work. Reviews are a general overview of the things a reader may or may not have liked while reading a book.

There's a reason I don't offer critiques.

Ever rob a bank?

No.

Is it ever difficult posting a review that might offend someone?

No. I post a lot of warnings for a reason, and if you disregard them that's not my fault. If a sign says 'no swimming' and you jump in and get eaten by a shark, I'm also not that sympathetic. The only time I might soften my delivery is when I know the author is really young, as in under fifteen or so, and even then I'm going to be truthful.
Okay, proper question, what infuriates you the most when you're doing reviews?

People who ask me (sometimes over and over!) why I'm not done yet. My book queue has 100 books in it. I'll get to it. Probably not as quickly if you annoy the crap out of me asking for updates.
