Love was different years ago.
Love was innocent and pure.
It gave and it gave and
Asked for nothing in return.
It was blissful and joyful and
Completely free of pain.
But we all grew up and
Built tall brick walls.
We left our innocence
Behind us and moved on.
Love is now a careful
Balance of joy and pain.
It gives and it takes.
It is a harsh reality
That doesn't care who
It hurts.
If this is so then why
Do we put ourselves on
The line?
From one heart to another
I think it's because the
High is addicting and we'll
Do anything to get our fix.
So we just live with
Love's Innocence Lost.
