Why Is It
So Hard For
Us To Love?
Why is it so easy to hurt others? Why is it so easy to find hatred? Why is it so easy to discriminate against others who are different than us? Why is it so hard to love one another? Why is it so hard to lift each other up? Why are we content with the violence? Or have the screams of peaceful protesters begging for their lives simply become yet another mundane noise of our world? Why can those with power abuse it so easily? So simply as to kill innocence and justify it with their power. Or without justification at all. Without consequence. Why is it that those committing the real crimes are pardoned? That those who murder citizens 'in the name of the law' are admired as heroes? When I think of a future for this world, I think of equality. I think of peace. I think of love. Or maybe, I hope for these things. I hope for a future so bright for only that could be dreamt of. It seems that those ideals are so far away, but why? Why are things that could be so simple made so complicated? How can we shut out the cries of those working for a better tomorrow and silence their pleas with hatred and violence? How can we raise next generations in a world of this chaos and danger? Why aren't we working harder to promote this peace? Why are those with the power letting these tragedies happen? Why is it so easy for us to hate? Why is it so hard for us to love?
