Why is it that as soon as a kid turns 18, their parents are so willing to just give up on them? I've seen it with my brother and I've seen it with my friends, and it's ridiculous.
Sure, I get it if your parents kick you out if you're some twenty-something year old dude living in your parent's basement playing video games, but these kids have jobs, go to school, and are actively working so they have a future. Why throw them on the streets? You're setting them up for failure. Just because they're legally an adult doesn't mean they're completely ready to break off from everything they know and try to work things out in the real world. Don't be lazy. Help your kid out. Maybe help them look for an apartment or offer to buy them gas for their car every now and then. It will be appreciated.
Sure, you legally don't have to house them or feed them or take care of them in any way, but they're your kid. If they deserve it, help them out a bit. It's better to jump-start their adulthood then have them crash to rock bottom and have to find their way back up because newsflash: a lot of times they don't.
