They say my future is bright. I have a mind I can exchange for a calculator, a heart I can exchange for a friend. I have a family I won't exchange for anything. I have life that's heavensent. And yet when they ask me if I look forward to it all, I cannot help but look back at my steps. In those steps I left you, in those steps you let me go. You, like them, saw my future, and in them you did not see yourself. It was not out of lack of love for me, it was because of lack of love for yourself. Back then I was too blinded by the thought of you finding someone else that I never thought you broke me so I could find myself. And still amidst my glittering world, I look for the set of moldy stairs we would sit against as we talked of the love we shared. Amidst all this glory, I still yearn for the comfort of knowing you cared- someone cared. We were an extraordinary pair in an ordinary world, where convention mattered more than the meeting of souls. You loved yourself a little less that you thought you did not deserve a second of my tomorrow. Do you not know that years after we parted, I'd still exchange all my tomorrows for  our yesterday?
