Jin at final landed in the crowded airport of Korea. He was thrilled to be back, greeted by a sea of waving fans and perpetual flashes from cameras. The first set of bodyguards surrounded him, protecting from any attacks.
(Kim Seokjin, age - 29)
On his way there, he couldn't get the idea of finally seeing his boyfriend out of mind. They would be reunited, he in the warm embrace of his arms and they together moments forever.
At last, he got to the exit and looked around for that face. However as he looked around still filled with excitement clearly turned to a hint of concern when he notice he never came.
"Where's he?" He whispered to himself.
Then he continued to follow behind the bodyguards towards their parked car.
One of the trusted security men, who had always been providing Jin with his driving service, asked as he saw him through rearview mirror. "Where to go, sir?" he asked.
Jin hesitated for a moment. "Home," he whispered in response. "I need to go home."
The driver nodded, and the car was taken off of airport property.
Sitting in silence, Jin stared out of the window. His hand then reached into his pocket, fingers brushing against a small box.
He pulled it out and opened it, a soft smile on his lips at seeing the peony diamond ring. The purpose was to be a surprise and of course truly show his love for his boyfriend.
"Was he mad that I avoided the topic of marriage before?" He whispered to himself, his voice barely audible. "Did he think I didn't care?"
Closing his eyes, he then took a deep breath but then he murmured, "No,"
"I'll make it right. I'll show him how much he means to me."
With a renewed resolve, he pocketed the box of ring, his mind set on one thing: to return home and shower his boyfriend with all the love and affection he deserved.
And perhaps, if the moment was right, to finally ask the question that had been on his mind for so long.
That is, to ask his hand in marriage.
His phone then buzzed with an incoming call. He smiled as he saw Jungkook's name light up the screen. With a quick swipe, he answered, "Hey, Kooki-"
"Hyung, congratulations!" Jungkook's voice burst through the line with excitement. "You were amazing in your movie debut! We're all so proud of you!"
(Jeon Jungkook, age - 24)
Jin chuckled. "Thanks, Kook. It means a lot."
Even as they exchanged other words, the concern lingered in him. "Hey, is he with you by any chance?" he asked.
Jungkook hesitated; his voice wavering a bit because he knew exactly to whom Jin was referring. "Uh- no, hyung," he replied. "W-Why? Is everything okay?"
"I … don't know," Jin confessed. He couldn't shake the feeling of unease. Something didn't add up.
He sighed softly as he talked with him for a while before ending it.
His fingers then trailed over his phone and with a shaky breath, he dialed his boyfriend's number and waited for a response.
But all he got was the recorded message that said that number had been switched off. His head was full of questions, he could feel them spiraling around a million miles an hour.
Was he okay? Where could he be?
Then a flower shop caught his eye, amid the frantic streets. "Please stop!" His voice urgent as he told the driver.
You could almost see the panic in the drivers face. "What happened, Sir? Is everything alright?"
"I... I am sorry for startling you but can I go buy something from the shop? It won't take too long." Jin said gently as he pointed at the flower shop.
The driver smiled a little, "Ofcourse, sir. Why are you even asking me for that? Please go ahead." He said as he stopped the car on the side of the road.
Jin got out of the car in his mask and hat, approaching this small little shop. The words "Sunshine's Flowers" were written above the door, and when he walked in, it was a friendly looking guy with an open smile that met his steps forward.
"Hello there! I'm Hoseok, the owner of Sunshine's Flowers. How can I help you today?" the man said cheerfully.
Jin returned the smile as he looked around the place, thankful that there were no other customers.
"I... I need a bouquet," he said hesitantly. "A bouquet of pink peonies, please."
Hoseok's smile widened, a knowing glint in his eyes as he nodded. "Of course, coming right up," he said.
(Jung Hoseok, age - 27)
Jin observed and his mind felt calm with the many colors of bright flower as a sudden soft fragrance whiffed to him. No wonder his boyfriend had a special place for plants and flowers.
While working, Hoseok glanced up at him. "Buying it for a loved one, I presume?" he asked.
Jin's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you know that?"
Hoseok chuckled softly. He replied, "Ah, the language of flowers. Pink peonies are the symbol of young love or long lasting love. Sometimes, they are used in marriages to represent the bond of love between two people."
"Oh," Jin murmured, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks as he fidgeted with his fingers. "Well, yes. Actually, my boyfriend loves pink peonies, so I came to buy them for him."
Hoseok's smile brightened. "Ah, what a sweet gift," he said. "You two must be quite the young couple. Are you planning to get married?"
Jin smiled back at him as he continued fiddling with his finders in excitement and nervousness. "Well, I actually bought a ring yesterday," he began quietly. "It's a peony shaped one since it's his favorite flower. I'm planning to propose soon. We have been dating for years and I think it's about time we further our relationship."
Hoseok let out a soft gasp. "Oh, how wonderful!" he said, clapping his hands together. "I'm sure it will be a beautiful moment. And with these peonies, your proposal is sure to be filled with love and romance."
Jin smiled, his heart now waiting for the moment he would finally ask his boyfriend to spend forever with him.
Jin smiled, heart at ease and excitement looming for the time he would finally ask his boyfriend to spend the forever with him.
"Oh, and the peonies signify healing too," Hoseok added softly, sharing many sides behind the delicate blooms. "Their lush petals and vibrant colors are said to bring comfort and healing to those who receive them."
Jin's gaze softened. "Healing, huh?" he whispered. "Thank you." He said as he accepted the bouquet from Hoseok's outstretched hand.
The florist smiled warmly. "It's my pleasure," he replied gently. "May these peonies bring healing and everlasting love to you and your beloved."
With a final nod after paying for the bouquet, Jin made his way back to the waiting car, the scent of peonies filling the air. And as the car pulled away from the flower shop, he held the bouquet close to his heart, a symbol of the love and healing that awaited him in his house,
...or may be, it didn't.
