Shadow

Outside I got a lonely twin
One that's stuck to my feet,
Grows depending on the light
And has been my friend for life.

But when I go inside
He goes away to hide
Hide from his bullies
The nasty ones, the uglies.

Everywhere I go they go
Plastered all along the walls
None of them grow or falls
They stand there, still
Shushing my thoughts to bail

At night it's the worst
I see them everywhere.
Wide and thin as a crack
Big or short like a stool
They watch me
They always have
But I'm not too sure if they really judge me.

But, by their demanding
Paper thin petite postures,
I know they shouldn't be messed with

My own shadow cowers behind me
While my sins gang up against me.
