26 hours

What if there were 26 hours in a day?

Maybe then we could love more;
Tell our families how much we love them,
Help with 'difficult' homework,
Discipline our kin more.

Or...

Would we argue more?
I believe we wouldn't worry to rest
We would go on with the quarrel
Until someone got that last word
On the buffet table!

Maybe we could do better,
Make right where we wronged.
Help homeless people or orphans.
Rectify our grades we so helplessly flunked
So that our people don't know

Or...

Maybe, just maybe
Get that project done before that deadline
Publish that book before the chance goes
Earn that raise before your colleague
Get that game you so eagerly desire...

Maybe we could rectify
Our pollution habits,
By picking up plastics
And throwing them away,
The RIGHT way.

What if a day had 26 hours?

Could we get more out of a day
That what we do now?
Would the days drag
Or speed away?

Would we see more of our families
Or colleagues?
Would we work longer
under the blistering sun
Or chill in the shade?

Would we enjoy a few extra hours of sleep
Or also complain.
Would we say:
"There's not enough time!"
Or "I got too much time on my hands!" ?

One tiny problem...

WE DON'T HAVE 26 HOURS
We got 24.
We have to settle for the best.
Play with the cards we have

Rectify what you think is necessary
Before time snaps it away.

A day has 24 hours.
