The Sad Truth
It was 2am and that was when Clay had woken up. But he was scared. Four people were missing when he woke. He had been pacing the kitchen for 10 minutes snacking on an orange. Then he heard a scream come from the living room. Darryl had woken with a jump and not because his friends were missing. That scream came after Clay entered the room.
"What?" Clay asked.
"Where are they?!" Darryl panicked.
"I don't know okay but," Clay was clearly sweating in anticipation. "They have to surely some back at some point. Right?" Darryl nodded slowly but, on the inside, no-one believed his words. They had awful butterflies in their stomach. And they were right to not believe his words. Because the four were not returning anytime soon that's for sure.
Geo climbed out of the thick snow and shivered. He had snow everywhere on him. If one spot wasn't covered that was because he had dusted it away. He quickly remembered the events of earlier and chocked on the freezing air. He began to dig around the trees he had last seen the two who had followed him. He didn't remember when another person appeared digging but they did. He looked at them and quickly fell over before pulling an axe out.
"W-Who are you?" he threatened but his voice wasn't cooperating.
"I'm Nick and thankfully me and my friend were nearby and witnessed you and your friends get wiped out by that avalanche," Nick spoke to Geo quickly before resuming his dig. Geo now looked around spotting Nick's supposed friend digging in the spot where Jacob fell. "GOT SOMETHING!" Nick called out hauling whatever it was out. A body. Geo swallowed quickly. It was Zak and he was unconscious. Geo was just about to give the short boy CPR, but Nick was already onto it. Therefore, Geo continued to dig. It felt like it was an hour before he touched something odd. It felt like... frozen hair! He continued to dig around the person quickly. Soon he was able to wriggle his arms under the persons arms. As he pulled the person out, he recognised the face quickly. This one was Vincent. Just as he started CPR on Vincent, Zak practically jumped awake. Nick reassured him and Geo didn't take his attention away from the unresponsive boy.
"NICK!" the other guy called out and Nick quickly stood.
"Be right back," he quickly sped in the direction of his friend and Zak shoved Geo away.
"Stay a-away traitor!" Zak hissed shivering continuously.
"Zak I'm-" as Geo got back up Zak pushed him back down. Geo pushed him back and Zak landed on his back haha. Zak then went at Geo with a stick he acquired. Boy was he going insane. "I'M TRYING TO SAVE HIM!" Geo yelled closing his eyes. Thankfully, the jab of the stick didn't happen, and Zak had stopped and stood back. Geo quickly got back into his position and continued the CPR. Zak watched cautiously for Geo to slip up and that would give him a great excuse to stab the shit out of him. The sudden gasp relieved the air of its tension and suspense. Zak kneeled into the snow and grabbed Vincent holding him close as if to protect him from Geo. The two newcomers returned to where the three were sat on the ground. Vincent was fully conscious now and giving Geo death glares nearing the height of Zak's.
"I-" Nick spoke softly as Zak and Vincent looked at the two studying them with nicer looks than the death ones, they were giving Geo.
"Your friend didn't-" the other spoke. He wiped under his white glasses and then continued. "He didn't make it." Geo gasped seeing the limp body in the distance. He then got up slowly and approached it. Jacob was cold and Geo hadn't even felt him yet. His face was as pale as it could go, and blood coated the snow as if it was a flavoured snow cone. Geo fell to his knees. The boy he had saved all those days ago. The guy who would always lighten the mood of the mansion. The guy who would make stupid little jokes that everyone 'hated' but internally it kept their sanity together.
Gone
Just like that. Geo sobbed into the dead boy's shirt.
"We should go Geo!" he heard Zak call out to him. He lifted his face from Jacob's cold shirt. Geo felt awful. He had practically led one of his close friends to death. He grabbed Jacob's cold and lifeless body and held him bridal style. He re-joined the rest of the group.
"What's y-your name?" Geo sniffled asking the other guy who was currently supporting Zak.
"George," he sniffed. "And I'm so, so sorry for your loose." Geo nodded sadly and the rest of the walk was in silence. They decided to re-enter the back door because why not? As soon as they got inside Geo fell to the floor full on crying now. He held Jacob's body close to his as if his body temperature could bring him back to life. But Geo's body temperature was no better than Jacob's. Clay came to his side and patted his shoulder holding back his own tears. Dylan was busy breaking down in the kitchen as Techno supported him and the newcomers were shown to a warm place by Darryl who later returned to check on his friends and give them blankets. Zak then stood up feeling it was the appropriate time to interrupt. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"Vincent was right," he addressed loud enough for all to hear. "He is a traitor."
