Polonium
We had failed.
And now we had to pay the prices.
Geo had mutated into something unstoppable.
Nick was the first to fall.
Ripped his throat out.
He ripped it out.
The blood was everywhere and spluttering from his dying corpse.
I froze too long.
He came for me, but Darryl got in the way.
Darryl was slammed to the ground as I was dragged away by Dylan.
The crack.
I looked back regretting the decision to do so.
Blood everywhere.
Darryl's skull was cracked open and he lay there unmoving.
We had all ran outside and into some sort of bunker.
We stayed until morning.
Vincent was getting sicker by the minute and he had little time.
We began travelling down the mountain reaching a safe little forest.
I stayed at the small campsite with Vincent that day.
I wished someone else stayed with him.
He died in my arms.
Chocking on his own blood and unable to get any relief of air.
When the spluttering and twitching stopped, I didn't cry or scream.
I just stared into his eyes.
Hoping he would breathe.
Willing it.
But no.
We had continued and Clay was trying to light the mood.
He went out onto a frozen river and messed around like a small child.
Everyone was laughing until the ice broke.
He was down there.
In that raging and ice-cold river.
He drifted down too far, and Techno punched the ice open with his bare hands.
The blood from Techno's hands was frightening and didn't make the situation better.
Soon Clay was recovered from the icy depths.
He was so cold.
Techno tried to bring his lively and calming smile back.
It didn't.
He had drowned.
Geo didn't take it too well.
The next day.
He was gone as well.
His body swayed peacefully in the wind from the tree he hung from.
No-one had it in themselves to bury him just like the others.
Dylan took lead and we continued.
I reunited with my old friend for nothing.
All I could do was watch as the mob tore him.
Blood and flesh everywhere.
All Dylan's.
Techno had taken me to a safer place, but we sat there in silence.
Having watched so many people die I didn't think I could live anymore.
Techno knew this and tried to cheer me up.
It didn't work because we were both miserable.
He went out looking for food.
Not returning even when it was dark.
I wished I had said to go with him or just me instead.
But fate had other plans.
I found a cliff and the groans of multiple zombies at the bottom.
They were feasting.
On my last friend.
He had fallen off the cliff and I could barely see his twisted body due to the amounts of zombies on him.
Finally I cried.
First time since all those days ago.
It was the 1st of August.
I hadn't even known any of those people for a month.
But they held me together.
They make me who I am.
And they were all dead.
I thought of dying right there and then.
But.
I couldn't.
I would live on.
I would make it.
For them.
It proves my point.
You can't be friends with anyone in the apocalypse.
But even if you do.
There are ups and downs.
Like a rose bush.
The amount can be high or low but in the end they all have.
