Chapter 3 - It was, Gray?
The weekend went away as fast as it came. After that party on Friday, I was really exhausted and yes Gray is living with us. Keith's practically my brother but sometimes he makes irrational decisions. I shouldn't have stood by him on this one but I can't bear to do anything to make him the slightest bit sad or unsure of himself. Sure, he comes off as goofy and care free but he's still unsure and I know it.
I walked into the cafeteria and bought a coke. I was in no mood for eating. I scanned the area and took a sit at the far right corner by myself. Keith was at practice, they have some big tournament coming up, plus I heard Gray's also on the team.
I have other, should I call them friends? Let's just say I know other people but most times I prefer to be alone, alone also meaning in Keith's company.
"Hey," A tiny voice said, I didn't even bother to turn around because I didn't think they were talking to me.
I stared at the distance, not thinking about anything in particular but not quite focused on reality either.
I felt something cold touch my head and run down my face, so I snapped my head immediately to find Rose trying really hard to hold in her laughter.
I touched my head. Whatever liquid she poured on my head was really sticky. Gonna be a whole lot of trouble getting this out.
"I-I'm s-sorry..." And then she burst into a full blown laughter, this made me tilt my lips up.
She brought out a cloth from her bag and surprisingly got everything out. Hm, power of a girl.
"I'm really sorry, I was trying to get your attention for a solid 10 minutes." She explained.
"It's fine." I chuckled, then looked at her expectantly.
"What?" She said cluelessly.
"Well did you come here to say something?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"Oh," she seemed taken aback, I did say that a little harshly.
"Um, I-I j-just.... I just s-saw," she was stuttering real badly so I picked up her hands, using my thumbs to make circular patterns on them.
That seemed to calm her down a bit, "I just saw you sitting here by yourself and decided to say hi."
"Thank you,"
"Also, I'm kinda having some problems in my art class..." She trailed off, scratching the back of her neck.
"Now that's what you came here for." I laughed and looked at her incredulously.
"A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do." She shrugged.
"I'm not busy today, after school at that little diner near the lake?" I asked.
"Sounds great." She said cheerily.
"So did you eat yet?" She asked out of nowhere.
"Uh no?" I said more as a question.
"Then let's go get you some food!!" Rieya suggested, where she came from? I know not.
"You girls don't worry,"
"Nonsense, I will go get you something." Rieya declared and left no room for objection.
Immediately she walked away, Keith walked in his hair all messy and his face looking flushed. Hm... Keith and I got some talking to do later.
He sat next to Rose, "Hey, I'm Keith. What's your name, gorgeous?"
She chuckled, "I'm Rose."
"Ah, Rosa." He said dreamily then kissed the back of her hand, at that I felt this weird pang in my chest.
Gray walked in and sat directly opposite me, "What's up, my pips?"
"I think we should be asking Keith."
Gray's face lit up in remembrance, "Oh yeah! I saw him locking lips with that nursing girl, uh what's her name?"
"Marisa." Rose and I said simultaneously.
Marisa George, the self proclaimed queen of Garfield University. Average height, nursing student, 'god damn gorgeous' (said so herself) not to mention her family's loaded. Too bad she's a bitch. So what was Keith doing with her?
Clank
The sound of a tray hitting the table brought me back to reality, when I turned all I saw was Rieya's back. Weird.
"What's up with her?" Gray asked.
"Uh...I have to go." Rose said, "Aiden, later, yeah?" I nodded and she scurried away.
"Am I the only one who sees the weirdness in this?" Gray asked.
"Keith came in after locking lips with that bitch, Rieya suddenly storms off and Rose follows suit." If you think about it, it's kinda linked.
"Why were you with Marisa, anyway?" I turn to Keith.
"She just came to me and slammed her lips on mine, obviously I shoved her back but someone..." He glared at Gray and he raised up his hands in surrender, "...didn't wait to see it all."
"But why would she do that?"
"I might just know the answer." Keith said staring at the doors. He seemed deep in thought, Keith's rarely ever this serious. I've been so wound up in my own world, I don't think I see Keith's crumbling.
He stands up abruptly and leaves. Gray and I lock eyes.
"Gray?"
"Yeah?"
"You were going to show us..." I trailed off.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm busy today. Let's shift it." Then he immediately stood up and left. That's odd.
I looked down at the table and at the food Rieya brought for me. I still had no appetite but she went through all that trouble, so, I ate a bit of it and dumped the rest in the trash can.
As I turned to leave, I caught sight of that girl I saw at that party the other day, she was staring at me. She broke out of the trance she'd put herself in and walked away hurriedly. Today is just filled with weirdness.
I walked out of the cafeteria, we were done anyway. I decided to take the long route home, so as to get some more fresh air and thinking time. I was walking rather slowly, taking my time. For some reason I couldn't get Rose out of my mind, she's beautiful, no doubt but it wasn't just that. I'll find out sooner or later.
A lot of things are going on with Keith, I can tell. How I didn't notice any sooner, is what I can't understand. He has always had a tiny crush on Rieya from afar but never did anything about it. Maybe it was something relating to that. Oh I don't know.
I do wonder what that Marisa girl's up to, she did proclaim herself all mighty but life is not one of those cliche romance stories that Keith doesn't stop reading, she's not one to run after boys, not the popular boys, not the sport players, Nada. She is shady though, I should probably have a little chat with her.
By now I was over halfway to my destination, one more turn and I'm practically home. When I did make the turn, I was greeted by a fist and it was, Gray?

She jumped into the water and made a big splash. He smiled simply because she did.
"Come join me!" She called out.
He shook his head and kicked a pebble on the ground.
He was lost in thought, so she sneaked up behind him and poured a bucket of water on his head.
That did the magic, he was brought back to reality. Reality including him chasing her around with smiles.
