43. Virgil

Hope you enjoy!

One job. One rule. The only rule she was supposed to obey. The only rule he had followed through on enforcing.

Don't fall in love. At any cost. At any time.

Love is the only weakness known to the dream demon blood line.

Her father fell in love once, nearly killed him.

After all, love is giving someone the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to.

Trust no one.

Trust no one.

Trust no one.

Those three words echoed through her head as she once again entered the man's dreams.

"Y/n." Virgil smiled, pulling her into a hug. "I've missed you."

Y/n chuckled, wrapping her arms around him.

"I was just here last night." She grinned, a light laughter slipping through her smile.

"Too long." He pouted, pulling back slightly and placing a kiss on her forehead.

Her smile only grew as she sat down on the bench.

His dream always consisted of a park, a small creak, a bench, and thick trees creating a border around the luscious, flowing green grass.

Perfect was the only word you'd use to describe this place.

Y/n smiled up at Virgil, her head laying on his lap as they both examined their surroundings.

"Remember the day, well night, we met?" Virgil chuckled.

Y/n grinned widely. "Yes."

She gasped for air as she crashed to the ground.

Y/n looked around, not knowing whose dream she had landed in. Being seven and inexperienced, how could you expect her too?

Tall trees, looming hundreds of feet above the dead grass, casting shadows of creatures scary enough to give even her nightmares.

She looked around in shock, a dream made completely of fear, and it wasn't even her father's doing.

A twig snapping, pulled her attention to a dull broken down bench, looking over a slimy green pond.

Out of pure curiosity, she approached the bench.

What she saw took her breathe away.

It was a boy. Dark brown hair contrasting his fair skin perfectly, along with his sparkling brown eyes.

Dark circles stood out under his eyes, highlighting his features even more.

People say children don't know what love feels like, but she was no ordinary child. And she knew.

"Hello?" She called to the sad boy.

The boy jumped and turned to the female.

"Who are you?" He asked, fear nearly dripping from his tone.

"I'm Y/n, and please don't fear me, if never hurt you. I want to be your friend." She smiled warmly, offering him a piece of gum she had in her pocket.

He smiled nervously and lightly took the gum. "Virgil."

"Virgil?" Y/n asked.

"What?"

"Promise me that I can trust you." She said softly.

"I promise, for as long as I live and as long as I die, that you can always trust me love." Virgil said softly leaning down and placing his lips on hers.

"Virgil?" She questioned again.

"Yes?"

"I trust you."
