Chapter 54- Holiday Season

Akane is outside a shop, looking through the displays with interests in her eyes. Snow falls down from the sky and unto her green jacket, red bonnet, red gloves and velvet boots. She must have been staring at the item in the shop for quite a few minutes now and her friends all probably wonder where she is.

"Hey, Akane-chan. Where have--" Kirishima was cut off when he noticed her dazed expression. Following her eyes, he pinpointed it towards a book on display in the bookstore in front of them. It's a hard-covered book with a picture of a boy behind a white wolf and a tree behind him.

"You seem to like that book, don't you?" He asked with a smile and Akane giggled and nodded. She turned to him and walked pass him to join their other friends, "H-Hey! You won't buy it?"

"I don't have the money. Uncle Nedzu didn't gave me any," she said, rubbing her hands against her jacket because of the low temperature.

"Ah...er... I can buy...it?" Akane laughed and rolled her eyes as Kirishima follow her from behind.

"And I'm sure you don't have enough money for it. Thanks, anyway," she said and they finally caught up with Yaoyorozu and Mina who seems to be waiting for both of them.

"What were you looking at back there?" Mina asked, grinning and the younger girl hugged her arm and rubbed her face against her jacket.

"Oh, just a book," she simply said as Kirishima snorted.

"Yeah. And that just book really peeks her interest. I don't remember the title though," he said and Yaoyorozu raised an eyebrow with a smile at her.

"Really? What might that be? You recall the cover, Kirishima-kun?"

"Umm..."

"It's fine. Really," she said, stopping Yaoyorozu's hand from getting into her pouch, "I don't even like it that much. So stop spoiling me, okay?"

The raven haired teen laugh sheepishly, knowing there is truth in her words. Smiling, Akane walk in silence with the two of them until they meet up with their other friends in front of a mall where they all decided to meet.

It has been a week after their Christmas break started and today, they all decided to have a get together. Thankfully, Nedzu permitted Akane on going out of the campus with the class that is infamous for many encounters with villains. Akane, on the other hand, just laughed it off.

The friends have greeted each other ana went into the mall with their groups, a couple of them wanting to have a conversation with the youngest among them. Akane just gestures and signed as if she was mute again as they verbally speak to her. She still wishes to communicate with them like that so that no one will get suspicious of her sudden recovery.

"Christmas is coming up. What are you planning?" Kaminari asked, grinning at his friends.

"I'm celebrating it with my beautiful family," Aoyama said, clasping his hands together.

"Yeah, my family too. My dad's probably gonna burst the house with loud Christmas songs," Jiro said as the rest also said the same thing until Kirishima told them off.

"Huh? What's the matter, Kirishima-kun?" Mina asked and the said teen gestured to a fellow red head beside him who is seeking interest in her red boots, "Oh."

"Seems like you'all have fun with your own family. Maybe, I'll be celebrating it with Uncle Nedzu this year. I might also ask him to go to the orphanage to celebrate it with my friends there," Akane said with a smile. A bright one at that. Staring at her boots probably made her think of all those up.

"Oh, Akane-chan. That's so nice," Kaminari said, slinging his arms over her shoulders.

"Hey! What if we have a party at twenty-four with Akane-chan and Aizawa-sensei?" Hagakure suggested and the rest muttered agreements. Akane smiled widely in glee as they hear something crashing from a few meters away from them.

Looking over to the commotion, they saw a food stall that crashed on a wall and a man sitting on the floor.

"Oops. I did that, didn't I?" Akane whispered and Kirishima put a hand on her shoulder and leads her away.

"Maybe, but's let's get going."

"Food court! Food court!" Mina chanted with Sero and Kaminari as they lead the group to the said destination.

---

By the second floor of the mall, a man with hood and a wavy blond woman stood as they look over a group of friends, eating happily in the food court. The man looked at his companion who is staring wonderingly at the group. At the youngest among them, rather.

"You'd be caught staring, B*tch. They'll notice," he said, but she didn't did what he was implying. Instead, she removed her tinted shades and rubbed her golden eyes.

"It's the first time I've seen her since the polar incident," she said and turned to him, grabbing his arm and hugging it, "You can't blame me for wanting to see her so badly."

"Yeah, but we can't afford to be seen. It took you a good damn week to convince handf*ck to let you stalk your sister," Bakugo said and lets her lean against him.

"Four days, Katsuki. Four days before Christmas and I can't be with her for the tenth year," she said, fixing her eyes at Akane once again. Bakugo took her hand and squeezed it.

"Just a few more days and we'll get her to our side," Nekta chuckled at her boyfriend's statement and leaned away, much to Bakugo's dismay. That could've last longer.

"Speaking like a true villain now, huh Katsuki?" She teased and the blonde growled. His annoyance is still bliss to her and that will never change, "Anyhow, looks like she's quite close to your best friend."

"What best friend?" He snarled, earning an eye roll from the red head.

"Kirishima Eijiro. I admit that I also considered taking him, but his undying loyalty may be the problem. He feels so inferior to you that he will not submit easily," she said which caused Bakugo's upper lip to lift.

"That hair for brains got no chance in this world," Bakugo commented, "How did you even know about that?"

"I research my victims to know their weakness before I let the parasites do the work," she simply said and turned her heels then walked away, "Well then. Let's go. And bring those bags with you."

He growled fiercely and grabbed the bags that's on the floor then followed her to leave.

---

Christmas finally came and Akane woke up in so much joy. He jumped down her bed and prepared for the day then meet Nedzu in the living room. She jumped to hug the rodent-like educator as he chuckle affectionately.

"Merry Christmas, Akane-chan," he greeted and Akane nodded in return. She sat down beside him and took a cookie from the table then stared at the Christmas tree in the corner of the room.

"There is a gift by the door earlier that is addressed to you. There's no sender, but I think it's safe," Akane's eyes widened as Nedzu gesture to the large  red and green gift on the foot of the tree. It seems to be at least a feet and a half tall and have a lime tag with Akane's name on it. Her real name.

"Go on. Open it," she slowly walks over to it and sat in front of it. She turned to Nedzu who smiled encouragingly. Turning back to the ambiguous gift, she took the tag and saw there is a note behind it.

'It's been a while, Sisly. You probably have no memory of me, but I wish you a Merry Christmas.'

That's what's all in the note and Akane looked back towards Nedzu who is casually eating cookies. Does he know? Have he known that this gift is probably from the infamous villain who, is at the same time, her sister? If he did, he is good at hiding it. But he did say it's safe.

She hesitantly unwrap the gift, tearing the piece of green and red paper apart and her eyes widened at the sight she saw. Two sets of books. Two series that she have been looking through a shop window for the pass weeks is now lying in front of her.

"The sender knows that you love to read. I wonder who that person is. Could it be, Mr Kirishima?" Smiling gladly at him, she rolled her eyes, "But, be warned, Akane-chan. Beware of the people in your surroundings. Trust only those you know you can trust."

She nodded and caress the case of the books and smiled. She knows it's the holiday season, and she may be a villain, but Syren is still her sister.
