Chapter 43 - Shackles
Bakugo blasted a hole into a dummy as Tagiri marks him on the papers. They started their own Quirk Assestment Test in KAI, with only them participating. It's in the weekends so their advisers wouldn't have to worry about their students running wild without their supervision.
"My turn! My turn!" Midoriya cheered, getting himself ready by stretching his muscles.
"You have one shot and no matter how much you say you can do much better, there's no second chances," Tagiri said and Midoriya grinned, flexing his muscles.
"No problem," he said and strikes a pose. Tagiri pulled a lever and a brand new dummy went up, its ragged body standing like a limped out of the rest and patched up together.
He took a deep breath, concentrating at his target. In the background, Toga, Todoroki, Bakugo, Nekta and Uraraka watch in anticipation in whatever he will do to get this over with. He never really uses his quirk unless he needs to and he doesn't really control and master it completely, maintaining at 20% in maximum.
However, that's not what Midoriya are worrying about. It's what if Tagiri notices the similarity of his quirk with AllMight's. The dream—or more like a nightmare—he had the other night still bugs him. He saw the previous users of the quirk he has inherited and even saw the origin of it in person. And that's not just it. He also the one who started it all, the first user, the helpless younger brother of All-For-One.
The running thoughts makes his head hurt and headaches aren't really his best choice for self-inflicted pain. And he doesn't like it for it is a signal that his other self is fighting back. He suddenly snaps and screamed, shocking Tagiri and the others a little before deciding to finally let out a huge blow, shouting his commonly used attack.
The waves and force he had emitted with a single punch vibrated and radiated into the atmosphere right towards the dummy. On contact, the poor ragged object got torn to pieces. Midoriya didn't seem to show any ounce of mercy for what he had done to the ground and dummy with a single attack.
The wooden floor got torn off, showing the path of the force as the wall where the dummy used to stand now has a dent on it while the ragged, stuffed head rolls on the ground, stopping when it hit Tagiri's shoe.
Uraraka's eyes got fixed towards the green haired male as he bites his lower lip. The indication of pain is shown in that small gesture. Out of instinct, Uraraka jumped off the bleachers and ran towards Midoriya, grabbing him dominant arm. She gasped once she saw how purple and worn off his fist. The same way it is whenever he throws punches ever since she'd known him.
"Deku! Look what you've done! I thought you can control your quirk now?" She scolded, grabbing his injured limb. Midoriya flinches and frowned at his injury. All he could think of now is the physical pain he is feeling and how will he be able to heal that without recovery girl.
"Yeah, I mess up on that one," he admitted and turned to Nekta who gives him a strict look. Her green eyes seems to drill into him and that's a look that is very familiar to him. She knows he's hiding something from him. Not because of her quirk, just because of her sharp intuition on things. It won't be long before she ask him about that.
"Tagiri-sensei! Let Deku go to the infir--"
"No need for that sh*t," a voice said and they all turned to the sourse to see the purple haired alien kid, Hoshi. He wears a blue coat over a plain pink shirt and blue pants with chains and skulls. If hero have costume, they think that this is Hoshi's version of villain costume.
"Tch, too bright!" Todoroki complained, earning an eye roll from Nekta. Hoshi didn't even take that as an insult but defended that he's keeping the alien look.
"Miokia-senpai hates your people's gut, but I don't generally do so as long as she doesn't know about this, let me practice my quirk on you," Hoshi offered and Nekta, Toga and Midoriya suddenly turned defensive at his statement, "Jeez. Drop the hastle, mother*ckers."
In the background, Bakugo crosses his arms and side comments about Hoshi's irritating attitude, giving him a nickname of Antenna the Second.
"Izuku is not some kind of guinea pig!" Toga said but Hoshi dashed in and grabbed Midoriya's injured arm. The green haired male grunted and tried fighting him off when Hoshi emitted a bright purple glow from his hand that grips Midoriya's limb and the purple color of his skin slowly disappear.
The rest of the party just stare in bewilderment with jaws down and eyes wide. Once the purple color is gone, Hoshi released Midoriya's arm and the latter inspects his arm.
"What...just happened?"
"Hoshi's quirk is Dismantlement. He can destroy things into pieces, but his new assignment is to find new possibilities to his quirk," Tagiri explained as Midoriya looks at Hoshi with a blank expression. Normally, he'll say his gratitude in any way he want but for this moment, he don't want to because of the fact that he became a guinea pig for his little practice.
"To be honest, his quirk isn't very dismantlement," Bakugo said and Hoshi shrugged.
"Well, blame the quirk naming to the doctors," Hoshi retorted before scratching the back of his neck. He looked at Midoriya then towards Uraraka before an apparent red tint appear of his freckled face, "Anyway, gotta run. Senpai will...go ballistic if I don't come. and it's annoying as f*ck."
Hoshi walks away as Tagiri sighed.
"To tell the truth, I like him more than the other two he's with," Nekta admitted, making her peers look at her with a look of bewilderment. Although, Bakugo looks like he'll kill, "His quirk is interesting too."
"Senpai, I don't like his guts. Especially how he blushes with Uraraka-chan," Midoriya said, glaring at the purple haired male's head from the back. Uraraka is just quiet behind him, but she tugged his sleeve.
"Just leave it be," she said and they heard tapping on the floor. All heads turned to Tagiri who looks unamused with the current happenings.
"Ramirez, it's your turn and if you can, spare me the slack and fix the floor and wall," Tagiri said, waving his hand and Nekta growled.
"Don't f*cking make me a sh*tty janitor, Thunder Mist," she said and did him a favor by getting her dummy up, "You're welcome."
Tagiri rolled his eyes and lighted his cigar as he stood right next to Bakugo who crosses his arms while watching Nekta perform her performance task.
"Is she always that sarcastic?"
"You seriously want me to answer that?" Bakugo growled as the grey haired male sighed with smoke coming out of his mouth. He can't handle sarcastic teenagers.
Nekta looks at her team and reminiscence their previous performances, noting their ability upgrades. Todoroki can now manifest incinerating blue flames and growing more powerful every time he and Dabi have a training session.
Bakugo can now control his blows and shoot long-range shots. She don't even know that he's working those out so his development surely amazed her. And as for Midoriya, she don't know what to say. He's still the same, actually and she doesn't like it. He must've grown somehow for the past weeks and months.
Moreover, she notices that there has been something that's bothering him and it's surely not his false courtship for Uraraka. It's something else. She'll make sure to find out sooner or later. But she prefer sooner.
Striking a pose with one hand forward and body tilted sideways, she somehow imitates a pose from someone in a Marvel movie. She focuses on her target which is the ragged dummy doll about fifty meters away from her and concentrates. She have one shot to show off how strong she is and no matter how good her aim is, there's still a possibility she can lose focus. And she can't deal with that.
Her channeling quirk can move things, yes, but no one said she can't shoot things with cognitive force. Her quirk is all about cognition and that's what she will do. She can't lag behind her subordinates. She's the leader so she must show she's in front.
She forms her hand into a gun and makes it glows bright red. With just that, they know she'll probably make this like a firing practice, "Cognition Bullet!"
The red glow quickly build up at the tip of her fore and middle finger and shot out like a high-speed bullet. It went right through the dummy's head and when they expected a hole to be left in there, the dummy exploded into tiny bits.
They all looked wide-eyed at Nekta as she turned her heels and raise an eyebrow at Tagiri.
"Tell Rule Breaker, I said hi," she said and walked away.

They can't remember how many months have passed. Developments have been done and bonds are created. And the shackles that held Bakugo down for those months finally disintegrated. He doesn't care anymore because he finally accepted that it's all real. He doesn't care anymore if she's a villain. All the weird actions his body makes that is related to her cannot be denied anymore.
The shackles are finally gone. Stockholm Syndrome has nothing to do about it anymore. This time it's real.
"Hey, B*tch," he called as the red head turned around to face him. Just like the usual, Nekta's on the rooftop with her PSP on hand with headphones set on her ears.
The night sky acts as a shelter over their head as the semi-winter air touch their exposed skins.
"What? Need anything, porcupine?" She asked and Bakugo walked up to her with his hands sucked into his pocket. Nekta just looks at him as he strut down to her direction.
This is actually a usual routine for them and the League doesn't even know about it. Nekta would go to the rooftop late at night, playing whatever games she think she wants to play while Bakugo follow her here.
"Is it going to be like this every night?" She asked as Bakugo clicks his tongue and sat on his usual spot.
"Who cares? Better than sleeping with two idiots," he said and Nekta chuckled. How can she argue with that logic?
"Those two are very handful," she said and leaned against the male and continued playing on her PSP, "I actually made the right choice when I decided to kidnap you too."
"You say it like it's a damn good deed, you B*tch," he retorted, earning a nudge on the side. Bakugo growls which amuses Nekta. Because of the somehow feral habits of his, he just reminds her of a puppy who is always being threatened.
"Forget being a porcupine, Katsuki," she said, leaning away and smirking at the boy, "You're a damned puppy."
Nekta expected a glare or growl from the sandy blonde haired teen but when she looked up at him, she saw him blushing with eyes widening. Noticing Nekta looking at him, he quickly looked away and that little action can't help Nekta but think of it adorably. Knowing that she thought of that, a red tint rise up her tan cheeks, but smiled. She kinda likes it.
"Aww is the puppy shy?" She teased and Bakugo turned to her and glared, a slight red still evident in his features.
"shut up, female dog!" He snapped and that actually made Nekta laugh. The frustrated look in his face is amusing and it's all because of her. She leaned against him again and smiled.
"Hey, Katsuki. You won't come back to becoming a hero again, right?" She asked and Bakugo was quiet. She didn't bothered looking up and her frowned turned upsidedown.
He's not broken like the others. He's just following orders to survive and he's staying because he can't escape. He just wants to stay alive while being stuck in the middle of all of this. He sure will go back to becoming a hero if he ever gets a chance. That's his longtime dream. But she doesn't want to.
"Funny," she lets out an empty chuckle and continued, "you're the only one I get to talk to like this besides Kurogiri and Aniki. Dabi's too serious, Shoto's way too cheery and Midoriya is too clingy. Katsuki, you're just right for me."
"Nekta," she was startled when he said her name and looked up with wide eyes. Then she was startled a lot more when she felt something moist landing on her forehead.
She can feel her heart racing an cheeks burning. It was a short moment before the moist object disappeared from her forehead and softness catches her lips. She felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her and her PSP shouting game over.
Bakugo's lips are soft despite his badmouth and cursed tongue. It's full of spices and the hot pepper he was eating earlier transported itself to Nekta's lips. She didn't expected this, neither did he, but it feels so right.
The kiss was cut short when Bakugo pulled away and ran out of the rooftop, leaving Nekta with a red face and racing heart.
For the 16-year-old teen, it's f*cking worth it.

This week is full of bad luck. It's only a few days before the contest when the Division decided to kick out some contestants and I'm one of those contestants. After months of practice, we got kicked out before the competition days before it even happened. I was like, "F*ck you, Division!"
Tch, then just yesterday, a room in my grandmother's house got burned and my relatives' clothes got caught up in the fire. Fate have a funny way saying it loves us. [Mark the sarcasm]
So, tomorrow's our supposedly contest and I'm having thoughts of skipping class for three whole days just to avoid seeing some contestants in our school leave to the venue.
