Chapter 34 - By the Night Sky
Nekta went out for a jog, using a disguise of a green-haired megane with earphones in her ears. For once, the headquarters isn't somewhere secluded or crowded. Just the right kind for someone normal. To be short, completely not for government wanted criminals who do all sorts of crime.
She took a turn and her eyes widened when she saw a woman with sandy blond hair and eyes similar to someone she knew. She tried masking her surprise with a PokerFace and just jog pass her, acting like nothing happened.
After a few meters, she stopped and looked back to see the woman took a turn in the other side and the tan-skinned girl suddenly had the urge to follow her. But she refrained from doing so and continued on her routine.
---
"Eri-chan! You should eat vegetables," Nekta scolded when the little girl refused to take in a carrot. She grip a spoon containing the veggie in question as Eri stare at it with a hesitant look, "Eri-chan."
"I'm glad I'm not babysitting that kid," Dabi said, taking in one last scoop of his food and Todoroki poured a spoonful more into his plate.
"Hehehehe! Dabi, eat some more!"
"Eew! Get your yaoi out of the table! It's disgusting!" Shigaraki complained, almost disintegrating his spoon when Nekta pulled it away before he ever do some damage.
"Yeah, and I'm babysitting the rest of you," Nekta growled and looked at Uraraka who silently eats her food beside Midoriya who is playing with his food, "Why don't you help me with this, Ochako?"
The brunette looked at her with wide eyes. Nekta finally made Eri eat her food and her face slightly lit up at the taste.
"What?"
"Let's talk later," Nekta said, dabbing Eri's mouth with a napkin and continued feeding her.
Uraraka looked around the table and saw different activities by the villains. Todoroki is bothering Dabi by putting more food in his plate in which the older male shove into his face. Toga is using all sorts of knife to eat. Midoriya, on the other hand, plays with his food as to where Spinner and Mr Compress eat normally, ignoring all the commotion in the table.
To tell the truth, they just look like one normal gang of round up teenagers who have nothing else to do. Not something she expects from an organization of pure evil.
---
Nekta fixes the table after dinner as Todoroki and Midoriya play with Eri in the living room as the little girl nibble on an apple. Yep, that girl loves apples.
Eri had development in the past weeks and she started acting like a normal child. Her shaky and always afraid demeanor is now replaced with a little cheerful child and everyone seem to enjoy it. Even Shigaraki. Well, he did grew up with a nine-year-old Nekta so maybe he reminisce with those old days.
"Eri-chan, be careful. Deku! Stop making her climb the table!" Nekta scolded, using her quirk to get her down the center table and Midoriya whining about ruining the fun. She merely huffed and continued on fixing the table. Oh, how she wished Toga can be more helpful outside the villain business and help out in household work.
"You act like you actually care about Eri-chan," a voice said behind her and Nekta turned to look at Uraraka, looking quite indifferent as she watch the rest play in the next room, "You're a really good actress, you know that?"
"Tch, like you know my life," Nekta sassed and started letting the water gush out of the faucet, "You wannabe heroes don't understand why we do all these sorts of thing."
"Of course not! You kill people!" Nekta slammed and hands by the sink and turned to Uraraka with an intense glare in her green eyes.
"That, I can explain. Human society says things that drives itself to its limits. Hypocritical comments towards us, villains, where they forgot that they are doing it, themselves," she said and heard the water overflow in the small tub in the sink, but Nekta ignored it.
"Politicians run so that they can corrupt people. The good one gets killed by those who envy them. Higher ups rob those from below for their own benefits. And yet, they blame it all to us when all we want is to be accepted and treated fairly," she continued and Uraraka glared back. Such out of her character.
"You wanted to be accepted and treated fairly but you---"
"That's the different between heroes and us. You think you're the good ones, huh?" She said and turned around and started washing the dishes, "At least, Katsuki somehow understands what I say."
"You brainwashed h--"
"Look. I don't care anymore if you have different point of view than me or the rest, but Deku wants you here and I will let you be. But this place needs an extra help in keeping it together. Let's forget about being enemies, let's first focus about getting this filthy hellhole cleaned up," she said and Uraraka looked away as silence envelopes them.
What Nekta hates more than AllMight are hypocrites. And Uraraka have to take not of that, making sure she is not, herserlf.
---
Nekta wore a jacket after tucking Eri in bed after a warm bath and walked up to the top floor and into the rooftop with her headphones and phone. She sat down on the cold floor and started playing games. Shigaraki did forbid her to do any villain work for a while so she can't go out at the moment. It sucks staying here though.
As she was about to get into war with another clan in her game, she felt her ground vibrate. She pulled her headphones down and looked behind her to see Bakugo, walking towards her.
"Oh, it's you, porcupine," she said and Bakugo made small explosions with his hand.
"Who are you calling a porcupine, huh?" Nekta chuckled in amusement after noticing that he didn't cussed for the first time.
"Who do you think, idiot? What are you doing here, anyway?" She asked and turned back to her game as she sense shifting behind her.
"You're asking that when double-a** and nerd are still loud as hell?" He said and Nekta chuckled, finding his annoyance amusing.
"Well good luck to you," she said and Bakugo suddenly grab her phone. Nekta's eyes widened and glared at the boy, trying to grab her phone back, "Hey! Give me that! I have a war to finish!"
"Tch! Weak!" Bakugo smirked, starting to play her game and Nekta huffed as she used extra measures to get it. By using her quirk.
"Give it back!" She ordered, but she heard something from her headphones and stopped. This stopped Nekta as she decided to hear what is happening in her game, "We're winning?"
"You're welcome!" Bakugo said and sat down beside her as Nekta watch him play and go on with the war. It lasted for a couple of minutes until their party wins and the gamer girl have to admit that this explosive porcupine amazes her.
"Not bad, jacka**," she said and grabbed her phone, turning to the younger male and raising an eyebrow, "Where did you learn to play like that?"
"Tch, I'm the best in everything," he brag and Nekta would let that slip.
"Touché," she muttered and involuntarily lean on his shoulder, surprising the latter. Nekta doesn't even mind doing that since she does that almost to everyone; Shigaraki, Spinner and Kurogiri. Bakugo is no exception.
"You're not planning on escaping, really?" Nekta asked, breaking the small silence as Bakugo let his body relax and tried acting normally.
"Like you're planning on letting me," touché again, Nekta thought and she remembered the woman earlier today. She most possibly Bakugo's mother as from the resemblance they have.
It scientifically proven that majority of a child's trait is inherited from his or her mother as to seen that X chromosomes is dominant to Y chromosomes and woman sex chromosomes have two X chromosomes. Nekta isn't a dumb NEET, you know.
"How about your father or mother?" She asked and Bakugo redirected his gaze.
"As if you know who my parents are," he retorted and Nekta frowned, pulling away. For a second, Bakugo felt weird when her warmth left his body. It was quite...comforting.
"I think I saw your mother earlier," she said and the teenage boy's eyes widened, "by the look on your face, you misses her."
The boy didn't gave a retort, denied it nor said anything at all and just keep quiet. Nekta knows of his explosive temper, his high ego, how high he thinks of himself so she knows that any sign of affection is very out of character of him. Showing any sign of such emotion about his mother is quite hard for the latter.
"What does it feels like to have a parent?" She wondered and leaned back to Bakugo's shoulder. She could really get use to this.
"Annoying as hell when they keep on barging into your business," Bakugo growled but the first thing that Nekta thought of are Midoriya, Todoroki and him, "They're so nosy and acts so much like extras. Telling me what to do and what is not to. Like f*ck! They don't own me!"
"Actually, you're their son. They practically do," Nekta said with a monotone voice and Bakugo clicked his tongue.
"Sh*t, I tell you," he retorted as he went quiet and was up into deep thought.
Bakugo Mitsuki. She's his mother. She have a short temper, yells really harsh things, cusses a lot and practically Bakugo's original copy as to where he is the carbon copy. She's not feminine or some sort and destructive in her own way. Just thinking about that makes Bakugo think more of himself than her.
Admit it or not, he misses his parents, especially his mother and their arguments about every little thing that seems to be a ritual.
"Hey, b*tch..." He muttered and Nekta's head almost fell off Bakugo's shoulder.
"Ah...huh?" She groggily said and looked at the boy. Much to her surprise, he looks somehow...sad.
"Can I visit them just for a while tomorrow?" He asked and Nekta's eyes widened in surprise.
"Sure, whatever, Porcupine."
