Chapter Two

ASHLEY'S POV:

It has been a week since I spoke to my mum, and not once did I stop thinking about our conversation, replaying each word again and again in my mind.

One week.

Today was the seventh day since, and I was going to meet Isaac today for lunch to discuss everything. Although I was dreading this meeting, my stomach couldn't help but flip cartwheels as I got ready.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't disagree more with the whole arranged marriage, but I decided to try and make this work, for my mother. Who knew what would happen to me in the future. Maybe I would finally fall in love with him, maybe we divorce and I find someone else?

As long as it saved my mother, right now I was willing to do anything.

Sighing, I picked up the outfit laid out on my bed ready to try on. My hair was wrapped in a towel and my face was done nicely, a subtle makeup look that would go well with the mood I was in. Once I blow dried my hair, I put down my dressing gown and wore the clothes, careful not to create any creases.

"Ashley, honey, someone is at the door, I think it's him."

Mum yelled from the bottom of the stairs, her voice barely audio able from my room and behind my closed door. I quickly picked up my purse and hurried out of my room.

Once I got down to the last steps Isaac was in my line of sight smiling charmingly at my mother who was smiling back. They really did look like the son and mother in law. I put on my best smile and decided to make my presence known.

"Hi, I'm ready to go." I stated quite timidly. I wouldn't call it a date. Of course I wasn't. It was simply a day out with someone that I would soon be married to.

"You look stunning Ashley, absolutely beautiful."

Isaac looked me up and down not bothering to hide the fact that he was seeing me out. I turned around to the sound of my mother clearing her throat. Smiling, she tightened her shawl around her, warming herself from the cold that swept in through the open door, and turned away with a knowing look. Some one really was encouraging this relationship of some sort.

"Shall we get going?"

I hooked my arm around his elbow which was offered out to me and as soon as I stepped out I felt the cool air sweep around my legs. I really should have opted for some classy trousers instead of the dress I seemingly thought was acceptable.

"Where are we going? I mean I don't mind where we go, I eat everything-not everything, just stuff but like I like most stuff.."

I began to ramble out of nervousness as we walked down the street to where Isaac parked the car. Smart move Isaac. One point for the gentleman you are and making your date walk down the street. *note sarcasm*

I decided to shut my mouth and just walk silently beside him, listening to the cool calm wind as it blew by and the distant sound of traffic through the city. We reached the car, and before I could lean forward and grasp the door handle, Isaac had it open. Smiling timidly I got in and mumbled a thank you as he ran to the other side of the car.

"Did I mention how beautiful you look Ashley? Seriously, there is no woman on this earth more beautiful than you."

I fumbled with the hem of my dress willing myself to not roll my eyes. Yes he was sweet, a charmer and sweet with words, but I was not going to let his words fool me into doing whatever he wanted me to do.

"My mum told me, a-about the arrangements, you would pay for her cure if I m-married you. Why?"

My head hang low as I whispered, my voice quivering at the end as I willed myself not to cry and make a fool of myself. What did he win from marrying me and saving my mum? Her cure was a lot of money, more than my family could afford and I couldn't give back half of what he was offering. It wasn't normal. Heck this whole arrangement wasn't right. My mum being ill was wrong and so were the feelings and attractions I felt towards Isaac.

Isaac placed the keys in the ignition, sighed and began to drive.

"It's complicated". He said.

ISAAC'S POV:

I looked forward as I began to drive through the city night. Seeing her hurt and confused had tore me apart and I desperately wanted to tell her what was wrong. Although not telling her was wrong, lying to her was so much more.

Feelings I had never felt before were bursting through me and I had no way of controlling them without driving out of her neighbourhood trying to ignore the urges.

-

"I used to come here all the time with my dad, you know. It's amazing and you never get enough. I promise you'll love it." I couldn't help but laugh at the cute confused look on Ashley's face. She was absolutely adorable and I couldn't help but beam with happiness and thank the lucky stars that fate had finally allowed me to have someone so perfect in my life.

We stood in front of Chuckey's burgers, a grin plastered on my face like a little kid with a bag of candy. I couldn't help myself, I loved this place.

"Isaac, seriously? Oh my god, this is going to be so fun."

Ashley was the complete opposite to Heidi, were Heidi would order a salad and a cup of champagne for a dinner, Ashley was all in for the burger and fries and I was glad she wasn't one of those typical clingy girls. It made me proud.

Once we got to the cash register, and we had to make our orders, Ashley had wanted nearly everything on the menu, from the chicken wraps to the kiddie chicken nuggets and fries meal, me constantly laughing at her cute moaning.

"You know what? Order as much as you want, and I will do the same and at the end we will see who eats the most?"

"okay, but one rule. You MUST eat everything you over."

Ashley began to jump up and down as we ordered money's worth of food.

This was going to be amazing.
