What Do You Think? About What?
What Do You Think?
About What?

Alex and the girl were sitting in Alex's backyard, plucking at the grass.
"What do you think?" The girl asked.
Alex looked up, and plucked another cluster of grass.
"About what?"
The girl also looked up, and said,
"About fear. What do you feel like, when you witness your worst nightmare?"
Alex pondered the question, and got a dandelion from a patch of grass. He blew the puffs away.
"I feel paralyzed, and my ribcage feels like it can't contain my heart. My brain feels like it's racing a hundred miles a minute, yet processing nothing. My body and mind runs on instinct by that point, and my soul is cowering in a corner, drowned by the darkness of my everlasting phobia."
The girl nodded.
"For me, it feels like the world is on pause, yet my fear is still moving while everything around me is frozen. And all I can do is try to run, or face the fear. And that brings me to something else," she said, "it seems like most people choose to run away."
"And that's why," he said, "lots of people can't deal with themselves. Their fears and emotions control them until death, and all they had to do was get the courage to face their problems."
"But some people can't find that courage," the girl stated, standing up. Alex's mom called them for lunch.
"Oh, they found it. But for some, courage is always right around the corner. They can only see courage's ankle, or a part of courage's arm as it swings around the corner. Some eventually pick up speed-"
"-but some never do," she concluded.
They had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch.

I'm glad I put the end line. :)
