Let's Say It Is.

The boy visited the girl again, for they were best friends since preschool. The average 'been best friends for life' story. They usually met at the park when their moms would take them there, just so they could talk about work problems.
The girl was standing by a tree, its branches sticking out in weird angles, some snapped in the middle of the branch, leaving some shorter than the others.
"Hey," she said, picking up a pine cone and throwing it towards the top of the tree. It fell back down.
"Hi."
"You know what I find odd?" She asked, throwing another pine cone. The boy shook his head.
"The fact that this might not even be real," she said, looking into his deep blue eyes.
"What do you mean?" He asked, also throwing a pine cone.
"That this-" she said, gesturing all around her, "-might just be a dream. This might all just be one long dream, and then when we wake up, we would be just a baby, or we may be dreaming this for hope, because we may be living in an apocalyptic, abandoned world. Wouldn't that be terrible?" She asked, a saddened look in her eyes, and she sat in the grass.
"I don't think that would suck. I mean, the abandoned world would suck, but if we woke up as a baby, wouldn't we be able to start over again? It's like living two lives, and we know what decisions were wrong, and which were right. Kind of like a cheat code," he stated.
"Maybe you're right. But what about the memories I have in this world? This world-this life-that may just be a dream; an illusion?"
The boy placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Then let's just hope this world is real, and then make as many memories as we can."
