Do You Wanna Know?
"So...uh...I'm sorry if this is a weird thing to ask, but why are you still here?" Kirishima asked as he and Bakugou sat in his bed eating fast food French fries and watching a movie on Kiri's laptop. He felt so comfortable right now, but he knew Bakugou would only leave him again, so he tried not to enjoy it so much.
"Can I tell you something?" Kirishima heard Bakugou swallow.
"Yeah. Of course."
"My mom is an angry old hag."
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Kirishima guessed.
"And my dad just takes it all without a complaint. He's just so cowardly and skittish, it pisses me off."
"So?"
"So, they're not compatible. But they're supposed to be soul mates. So, I guess...I always just figured that this shit didn't exist."
"Bakugou..."
"I'm not done, shitty hair."
"Sorry."
"Anyway...I'm too much like my mom, so...I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm scared of destroying you like she did to my dad."
Kirishima nodded. He was finally understanding what made Bakugou this way.
"First of all, I'm not your dad. And you're not your mom. I'm sure we'll be fine." Kirishima shifted as carefully as he could without moving his injured foot so he could take Bakugou's hand in his own. "Secondly, have you ever considered that your dad is happy?"
"I guess not..."
"Exactly. They're probably more compatible than you think. And WE'RE more compatible too."
Bakugou scoffed, head turning away.
"Anyway, you didn't answer my question."
"Huh?"
"Why are you still here? Why did you come in the first place?"
"Because I was worried that you had done something stupid and that it was all my fault." Bakugou's grip tightened on Kiri's hand. He held his free arm out, the one with the tattoo. It was almost faded, just like Kirishima's was.
"Our connections are breaking. You can finally be free from me."
"Oh...good..." Bakugou said slowly.
"Look, Bakugou," Kirishima closed his eyes, leaning against his shoulder. "The next time you go away, don't come back. It hurts when you leave and I don't think I could take any more of that."
"What if I don't leave at all?"
"Bakugou...I just can't trust you to stay anymore. If I get my hopes up-"
"Move in with me."
"What?"
"My roommate is moving in with her boyfriend and I need somebody else to pick up the other half of rent."
"I can't just leave Mina alone here."
"Then bring her with you. We can split the rent three ways."
Kirishima considered his options. If he lived with Bakugou, it would be harder for him to leave.
"Look, I think we should consider other options."
"Like what?" Bakugou had disappointment in his eyes.
"Like...finding a roommate on Craigslist."
"Hell no. I'm not rooming with a complete stranger!"
"And I don't plan on moving out of this place. The rent is cheap because Mina's uncle is the landlord and it's close to my work."
"Then why don't I move in here?"
"Really?"
"Kirishima, you're the biggest idiot in the universe. I can't believe I'm falling for somebody like you."
"What was that?"
"I'm not repeating myself."
Kirishima smiled, leaning in to kiss Bakugou on the mouth. When they pulled away, he noticed that their tattoos were now as vivid as they were supposed to be. He laughed.
"I can't believe I'm falling for you too."
