Dead Flowers
"You have visitors."
Kirishima blinked, confused. He was checking out soon anyway. Why would the nurses let him have visitors now?
"Who are they?"
"A girl with pink hair and a blond boy."
Ah. Mina and Kaminari. They must be coming to take him home.
"Let them in."
The nurse nodded, slipping out of the room and returning with two people.
However, the blond wasn't Kaminari as he expected.
"Bakugou?"
Bakugou looked awkward as he stumbled into the room, holding something yellow in his hands. "I...brought you a flower."
"That's a dandelion. It's a weed." Kirishima lifted an eyebrow.
"Well...you're kind of a weed, aren't you?"
"I guess. Bring it over here."
Bakugou did as he was told, setting the flower in Kirishima's outstretched hands.
"Wanna see something cool?" The redhead asked.
"I...guess..."
Kirishima held the stem of the plant in his fist, slipping his thumb beneath its head and flicking upward to snap it off.
"Hey!" Bakugou caught the yellow head before it landed on the white hospital sheets. "You wrecked it."
Kirishima laughed. "It looks just like you."
"No it doesn't!" Bakugou hissed.
The redhead smirked playfully. Even though Bakugou had hurt him, he had to be at the hospital for a reason. If he didn't care about Kirishima, he wouldn't have come and he definitely wouldn't have brought a flower, even if it WAS just a dandelion he clearly found growing between the sidewalk cracks.
But then...maybe this was a metaphor. Maybe the single dandelion that had broken its way to the surface represented feelings for Kirishima that had broken through Bakugou's stubborn outer heart.
Or maybe the dandelion was the only flower he could get for free on the way to the hospital.
Either way, Kirishima was going to obliterate it.
"We used to do this all the time when we were kids." He said as he slid his thumbnail up the stem of the flower to break it open. He made slits in the same way on either side of the dissected piece until it looked like a stringy mess.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Bakugou looked horrified as he clutched the decapitated head of the dandelion in his hands like it was he last dandelion on earth.
"Just watch." Kirishima said, dropping the mutilated stem in the glass of drinking water. The stem strings curled themselves until they were a tangled blob of spirals.
"See?"
"I didn't know they did that."
"Because you're an emo who barely goes outside." Kirishima teased.
"That's not true! When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city and we saw a marching band. THAT was outside!"
Kirishima snorted. "You're way too emo. How'd I get stuck with a soul mate like you?"
Bakugou shrugged, face turning serious as he looked toward Mina who had been speechless since entering.
"I guess we should be getting you home." She said quietly.
"Yeah." Kirishima agreed. "One of the nurses can get crutches for me. I can't walk on my foot for a few weeks."
"What are you going to do about work?" Mina asked, worryingly.
"I dunno. Probably do reception for a while, I guess. Our usual lady is out on maternity leave anyway."
"Well, that's good."
"Anyway, can we stop somewhere on the way home?" Kirishima asked, "I'm craving fast food like crazy."
