28. And I Woke Up, Every Daa-aaay -- Holy Shit
Thank God she'd gone to the trouble of fixing herself.
Sam and Dean stood in the doorway, waiting not-so-patiently. Sam exhaled and gave her a weary smile; Dean's eyes traveled slowly down her body before flicking back up to her face. He blushed a little and smirked that she caught him looking.
"What do you assholes want?" she asked tiredly, rubbing the sleep out of her caramel-brown eyes.
"We just wanted to make sure you guys were alright," Dean said with a careless shrug.
"How sweet. But seriously, at five in the morning?!"
"Yeah. You were already awake anyways." Emalee tensed, her muscles seizing slightly. Her expression immediately became guarded. She didn't move, her gaze locked on Dean hostilely, even as Cali jumped around their legs.
"How did you know that?" she asked, letting a hint of a snarl creep into her voice. Dean narrowed his eyes as Sam bent down to pet Cali.
"It's obvious, isn't it?" Dean replied, matching her tone. A low growl leapt from Emalee's throat, her eyes blazing, all traces of sleepiness gone as her fists clenched at her sides.
"Go-" Eileen interrupted her, effectively shoving her out of the way. She smiled and leaned coyly against the door frame.
"Hello there, m'dears," she purred, ignoring the way they stared at her. "And just what might you be doing here at this-" She paused to check her phone, ever the one for a dramatic flair, "-lovely hour?"
"We-"
"Ah, bloody hell, it's alright, lads, c'mon inside before you freeze your arses off," she said with a chuckle, stepping back and waving them inside. They stepped hesitantly inside, Eileen slamming the door pointedly behind them. Marley woke with a start.
"Huh?! Wait, what the hell-"
"Relax, we're just checking in to make sure you all were settled and stuff," Sam said, running his fingers through Cali's fur. She wagged her tail and licked his hand.
"Well, we're fine. Can you leave?"
"What, at five in the morning?!" Dean asked in mock horror. The three girls rolled their eyes. "Nah, I'll just stay awhile."
He sat on the middle of the couch, squeezing his (hot) butt between Emalee and Eileen. He grinned wolfishly. "Ladies." They both turned and slapped him.
"We're not that easy," Emalee said, holding back a laugh.
"You have to work for us," Eileen finished with a smug grin. They laughed and high fived.
"Yas kweens!" Marley giggled, clapping. Sam and Dean rolled their eyes, Sam settling onto an automan with Cali pressed against his shins, Dean leaning back onto the couch.
"So... what're we going to do?"
"Good question," Emalee said with a huff, scooting over and throwing her legs into Dean's lap. He gave her a, 'what-the-hell-did-you-do-that-for?' glare, but she just flipped him the bird and wiggled her feet. Eileen raised an eyebrow at her; she winked back.
"But seriously. We're not just gonna sleep around all day, right?" Sam asked again, still petting Cali.
"Did you expect anything else from us?" Eileen retorted skeptically.
"Actually, yeah."
"Then you don't know us very well," Marley answered, smiling cheekily. They were uncharacteristically silent for a moment, then a small snore made them turn. Dean was fast asleep, his arm over Emalee's legs in his lap.
"Oh," Marley whispered. "We probably shouldn't wake him."
"Yeah," Sam chuckled softly, leaning back. "He's bitchier than a teenage girl on her period when you wake him up."
"This fact does not surprise me in the least," Eileen murmured. "Bloody hell, Emalee's asleep now too! Ah, fuck it." She rearranged herself so that her head rested on Dean's shoulder, feet curled up beneath her. She smiled lazily, and her eyes drifted shut.
"Oh, aren't they just precious? All the lil chalrens fast asleep," Marley cooed with a laugh. Sam smiled slightly, his - blue? Brown? Slightly green? - eyes crinkling at the corners.
It took awhile, but he was the next to fall asleep. Marley sighed, knowing she probably wouldn't, and tossed a few blankets over them, one of them Emalee's own. She smiled, and kissed their foreheads.
"Nighty night, everyone," she whispered, heading off to her bedroom. To do what, who knows?
