Chapter 9: Healing Process

"Here ya go, Garroth," Dante and Travis re-entered the room, Dante holding something within his hand.

He came over, handing me some strange, small objects. I played with them in my fingers, unsure what to do. I glanced over at Laurance, who was lost in his own world. What was I supposed to use these for? I don't believe I am aware of what these are.

"Well, um...I'm sure Laurance must've given you a worse headache, since we were gone," Dante chuckled, and Laurance rolled his eyes. "So, we'll all leave you be. Sorry about all this, man."

"Right..," I sighed, holding my head upon my hands.

"Well, Dr. Travis prescribes, that you take those," he gestured to the small objects, "and get some rest. Alright?"

"Yes...sure."

Dante and Travis nodded in unison, before heading out of the room. Laurance followed behind, but stopped right in front of the door of the guest chambers. He turned around to face me, furrowing his brows.

"You gonna be okay, Blondie?" He leaned against the wall, folding his arms over his chest. "You look like you're in a lot of pain..."

~~~
"Are you going to be alright, Garroth? You look like you're in...a lot of pain..."
Am I in another memory?
I uncontrollably looked around the small, enclosed room. My eyes locked, with someone else's. Like the figure from the previous dream, they were blurred. However, there was a small way of telling, that they weren't the same person.
"-----, of course I'm not in pain. I'm doing swell," I lightly chuckled, putting on a smile.
The miniscule sigh of relief, holding a distorted hand over their chest. "How are you feeling?"
"Just peachy, ---- ------. I just have a small...inconvience. Also known as, the aftereffects of having an arrow shot through your chest," I slid my hand down my bare chest.
Looking down slightly, I noticed the bandages, tightly wrapped around my stomach and entire chest. One specific area, wasn't exactly...the most pleasant of sights... In the area, the bandages weren't...white... It was more of a shade of the colour...red.
Is that the wound, created by the arrow, I had previously referred to? What caused such a causality? War? A public dispute? Friendly fire? Irene knows, it could've been caused by any of those damned situations.
"You lost a lot of blood," the figure traced their finger against the bandage. I hissed in pain, as they grazed the wound. Their finger instantly retracted, and they frantically apologized. "You are in pain, aren't you..?"
"Just a little..," I let out a small sigh, shifting on the uncomfortable bed. "The herbs thou hath sent for, were quite the help. Many thanks."
"I am always here for you, Sir Garroth."
"M'lady, that tis not necessary..," I tried to sit up, only to fall back, due to ailing pain surges. So, this figure must be a maiden. We referred to her as a lady. "I am your Guard. Your Knight. It tis my lawful duty, to keep you protected. And, having thou risk their life, for someone such as I...that is just unheard of! Blasphemy!"
Could she be..?
"And it tis my duty as a Lord, to keep my peoples safe. That includes you, Garroth. Now, please, try and rest. I'll confront ------ about taking over your position, for a while. Just until thou are healed. I'll send in the doctor."
"Thank you, m'lady."
~~~

I stared up at ceiling, a thousand thoughts racing across my mind. Just a few moments ago, I hath awaken from. I'm still trying to piece everything together.

"How you holdin' up, bud?" Someone asked from the doorway. I recognized him as Dante.

"How long was I knocked out for, this time?" I held my head, figuring I had once again fallen unconscious.

I wasn't sure how to feel about these spontanteous. outbursts. Sure, they unlocked bits and pieces of my past. However, they have their cons, along with their pros. For instance, I keep passing out, and have a high probability of being injured. I mean...after that small flashback...I don't think this is the worse situation I've been in...

"Like...ten minutes. Laurance said you just fell asleep, when he was talking to you. I took his word for it," Dante chuckled, shuffling a little. "Garroth, when do you think you're gonna be back up on your feet again?"

"Can a chicken swim?" I turned to face him, to see he held the most confused look.

"What?"

"I don't know."

"Huh?"

I sighed, brushing back the hair that had fallen in my face. "The phrase means, I don't know. Have you never heard that phrase before?"

"No, I haven't. Pretty sure you made it up," Dante crossed his arms, laughing to himself. He was starting to get on my nerves again. "But, uh... Feel free to stay here, as long as you need. Laurance informed me about the...you recollecting your memories, thing. If you need anything, just ask any of us. Or, give Aphmau a call."

"How? Write her a letter, by messenger bird? Or wyvern?" I dragged my thumb down my chin.

"Or, you know...modern day technology..."

Dante walked over to me, shoving his hand in his jacket pocket. He pulled out the same rectangular device, that I had previously seen Laurance toying with. He handed it to, which I merely examined. I held it by my thumb and forefinger, dangling it above my head.

"What is this?" I squinted my eyes, trying to figure it's purpose.

"Dude...it's a cell phone. How can you be from this era, and unaware what a cell is?" Dante did the face-to-hand gesture, that I've also seen a few people do, chuckling again. Is there a point, where he is not laughing of some sort? "You can at least remember what a cell phone is, right? You use it to call, text..."

Dante held onto the sides of the proclaimed cell phone I held in my fingers. After hearing a small 'click' sounds, the device lit up brightly. My instant reaction, was to drop it. And it fell. Onto my face.

And it hurt.

"Bro, did that startle you?" I could tell Dante was holding back a laugh. You were able to see, from the look he had on his face. "Have you seriously never seen one of these before?"

I shook my head, 'no', picking back up the cell-phone. The front had displayed a portrait of some sort. The portrait were of two people. One being blue-haired Dante. The other, was the other...boy...I had met, at Miss Aphmau's home. What was his name again? Vylad? I liked him. He was kind.

"What on Earth, is this? Some sort of...magickal portrait displayer? Fascinating, to say the least," I kept examining it all over, and watched as the portrait faded to blackness.

"Nope. Not magicks. And, that was just my lock screen, bud," Dante took the cell-phone from me, sighing. "You remind me, of something straight out of a movie."

"What the blazes is, a 'movie'? Does that display, the portraits, as well? Like this one, does?" I pointed at the device, as Dante shook his head, and laughed to himself.

"Yeah, kinda. I guess," Dante stretched his arms over his head, looking around the room. "I think we'll save the, re-introducing you to modern day tools, for another time. For now, get some rest, and take that medicine I gave you. I know you didn't. I'll have Travis and Laurance, take turns on checking on you. I want to see you in better health, alright? We'll get you back home."

"Thank you...I appreciate it all..."

I must find a way, to thank them all, for their hospitality...

"How did you come up with the idea of this book cuz it is absolutely beautiful?"

~

Kat- "Aww, thank you. Well, get ready because this is sort of a long answer... Honestly, it was kind of just a spontaneous idea. When I'm bored, I often right down little short stories (which sometimes I end up using, and turning into actual books), or writing down bits of dialogue (which I do the same thing.). This plot, was created mostly due to the fact, that I had done quite a bit of research on Old English and Shakespearean speech. I wanted to create a story, with a character, that speaks in that sort of tongue. Thus, I thought...why not use Garroth? Have it take place in the MC Diaries universe. Then, I thought to myself...why not make a multi-universe story? So, I began writing down little dialogue pieces, and it accidentally turned into a Garrance story (as do most of everything I do). After quite a bit of planning, I settled on a story line, and began writing this book. As of the time I am writing the answer to this, I have already written this entire book, 75% of the sequel, and begun planning for the storyline of the third and final book of this trilogy. This idea has been in my head, since before I even had this Wattpad account. But, I didn't want to release any chapters, until I was almost complete with everything. So, yeah... (Honestly, you should see the planning folder I have for this book. There are so many sketches, mini-comics, dialogue pieces, and character design sheets, etc.). So, I hope I answered your question well enough. Thank you, for those who read this entire rant. Have a great day/afternoon/night."
