Chapter 2
A/N: Firstly, I'm going back to calling Shiho "Kimizuki." That's what I originally used, but then I switched it to his first name like everyone else, but it felt kind of weird, so Kimizuki it is. Secondly, thank you very much to all of you taking your time to read this, and special thanks to KGamer226 for being the first to star this story! I hope you all enjoy this chapter just as much!
Dittleling. A small bell sings a song of joy as someone enters its door. Yuichiro's head whips back and forth, standing in the doorway as he takes in his surroundings. He looks over a certain blond, who had been hiding behind his computer screen at the sight of the raven haired boy. He hated seeing people he knows in public. God, could that other boy just leave already?
He watches as the raven-haired boy walks up to the cashier and orders something quickly, swipes his card, and walks to the side, tapping his foot impatiently as he waits for his drink. Drinks? Food? The blond doesn't know. All he knows is that he is definitely the one he saw earlier this morning. He didn't get a good chance to look at him then as to not get caught staring, but now is the perfect chance and god do his bright green eyes just glow under his mop of beautiful, inky hair. Agh, why can't he just enjoy his break before his next class like a normal student?!
The blonde watches carefully as the raven boy walks to the opposite corner of the coffee shop. "Mikaela!" Said blonde turns his head sharply upon hearing his name. A brewer, one with black hair and bags under his eyes, is holding up a coffee mug. Mikaela is starting to regret not ordering his to go. He looks at the black-haired student across the room, who had turned his head when a name was shouted. Fortunately for Mikaela, he quickly turns back around.
The blonde gets up from his seat cautiously, fetching the coffee from who he recognizes as a classmate. "Thanks, Rene." Rene sighs exaggeratedly, mumbling something angrily under his breath. The student never gets any sleep. Mikaela would know; he is his roommate. He's always hanging out with friends in the afternoon and works on all of his neglected assignments at night, a bad habit for a student with classes every week day and work on the weekend.
Quickly sitting back down, Mikaela sips at his coffee slowly. He tries to take the time before his next class to go through his social media feed, but he can't help but to look back at the person with the emerald eyes, stealing glimpses every now and again. "Yuichiro!" The student Mikaela had been watching walks up to the cashier's counter, grabbing two paper bags of food and a paper cup and heading out the door just as quickly as he entered while Mikaela hides behind his laptop once more. Ah, so that's his name. Mikaela starts questioning why he cares so much. He looks at the corner of his computer screen for the time with a sigh. He packs up his computer, slings its bag around his shoulder, and takes one last gulp of the caffeinated beverage before leaving it behind on the wooden table stained with generations of rings of coffee.
Mikaela sighs frustratedly as he exits his second class of the day. More projects to work on. Wonderful. Knowing his luck, Mikaela will only get more assignments in his next class. He'll finish his classes, eat dinner, and then stay up all night getting a start on his large collection of essay topics. Looks like there won't be any fun and games tonight. Mikaela works shifts at the local Waffle House every weekday, so he can't exactly save much of it for tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Kimizuki seems to be getting less grumpy by the second, either because the caffeine is finally sinking in or because of the presence of a certain brunette in his dorm room. Yoichi had joined in as Yuichiro started unpacking his luggage, and they are now chatting noisily with both Yoichi and Kimizuki on his bed and Yuichiro finishing making his. "So, uh, what is this fabulous Sunday Game Night that Ms. Purple was talking about?"
Yoichi perks up. "Oh, Shinoa? Every week, our group of friends get together to play some games! I think this week, we're playing Truth or Dare."
Yuichiro snorts. "Truth or Dare? Isn't that game for little kids?"
"Don't come if you don't want to. Nobody will miss you that much."
Yoichi whines sadly. "Aw, c'mon! It'll be fun!" Kimizuki rolls his eyes and nods his head slowly in reluctant agreement.
"Alright, alright." Yuichiro puts his hands up in resignation and hops on his neatly made bed, which won't stay that way for long. "When and where?"
"Right outside of the first class building next to the library at nine thirty. I'm going to assume that both of us are going to be here at that time, so I can show you how to get there."
"Sweet!" Yuichiro doesn't know what else to say, not all that used to Kimizuki being nice. However, he can't help but wonder why they'd choose the outdoors. Yuichiro hates the outdoors.
"Yay!" Yoichi smiles contagiously.
Shinoa sits down on her knees on the carpet of the girls' common room. She smirks, rubbing her hands together. "So, who's ready for a good old game of Truth or Dare?" Yuichiro grunts in reluctance. "Today's contestants are Yoichi, Kimizuki, Guren, Shinya-"
"Hiya!" The white-haired senior waves his hand with a smile.
"No interruptions." Shinoa sticks her tongue out at him. "Yuichiro, and last but most certainly not least, your host, Shinoa Hiragi!" She waves her hands and smiles cheekily. "As your host, I will happily volunteer as the first to go!" She points a finger at Shinya, making him jump back a bit in surprise. "Because you were just so kind to interrupt, I will take it as you are just so excited to play that you could explode! So, Shinya, truth or dare?"
He laughs nervously, moving a pale white hand to play with a piece of his hair. "Well, uh, it's not as if I have many secrets-"
"Lies." Shinoa interrupts to cross her arms.
A nervous laugh. "I choose truth."
"Boo. Here's your question, and do keep in mind that there is a punishment for not telling the truth." Shinoa smirks evilly at both the possible answer to her question and the thought of getting to punish a higher-up, and a relative, nonetheless. "Here's a traditional one. If you could kiss anyone in this room, who would it be?"
A moment of silence. The others watch, not shocked to hear that particular question right off the bat. "Ah, well, probably Guren-san, b-but only because I've gotten to know him the longest."
Guren jumps a bit in surprise when he heard his name and quickly looks off the side with a nearly indistinguishable blush. Shinoa smiles at the answer, expecting nothing less. She looks at Shinya, disapproval replacing her smile as she waggled her finger. "Only tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, Shinya!"
"Eheheh...What are you accusing me of lying about?"
"Obviously that's not the only reason that you wanna kiss 'Guren-san.'" Shinoa smirks widely, waiting for a reaction out of him. Shinya just blushes and tries to hide it by smiling shyly. "Okay, Shinya, now you ask somebody else 'truth or dare'!"
He looks around at his options. "Hm...Okay, Kimizuki-san, truth or dare?"
Kimizuki is a bit surprised to be called on so soon. He shakes it off as to not hurt his pride. "Dare, of course! I'm not so wimpy that I would just go the easy way out and pick truth!"
Shinya chuckles lightly in response to the offensive comment that may or may not have been directed at him. "Alright. I dare you to...go to a random classroom and start singing holiday carols as soon as they open the door."
Guren rolls his eyes. "That's a tough one."
Shinoa can't help but to agree with Guren for once. "Way to keep the game interesting."
Shinya puffs up his cheeks at the teasing. Kimizuki stands up, wiping off his jeans. "Yeah, well, I'm just going to get it over with so that we can move on."
Yoichi stands up beside him. "We may as well go watch, right?" With no objections, the group of six travels down the hall talkatively until they reach a class around the corner. Shinoa stops at the corner, everyone else gathering behind her but Kimizuki. He takes a reluctant step forward.
"Go on." Shinya motions for Kimizuki to get a move on with a friendly smile. The group watches with interest that is hidden better on some more than others, but nonetheless existent. Kimizuki glares at them. Yuichiro smirks, remembering Kimizuki's earlier comment about how easy this would be for him, and yet here he is, stalling the completion of his dare. He turns to glare directly at Yuichiro before knocking on the class door. One of the students who most likely sits closest to the door opens it with disinterest while the rest of the class and even the teacher has their eyes set on Kimizuki, wanting to know the reason for the visit.
Kimizuki flinches, and both Shinoa and Yuichiro look just about ready to burst out into laughter without even being able to see the facial expressions of the class. Kimizuki then breaks out into song, his voice monotonous, as he stands nearly frozen in place. "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh." The class bursts out into laughter. Luckily, as frustrated as the teacher looks, he doesn't seem like he's ready to punish any of the immature students. Kimizuki just walks away, and the guy that had been holding the door slams it shut, but even then, the rest of the class continues to giggle noisily.
The others slink away quietly until they are a safe distance from the classroom. They break out into laughter, some even clasping their stomachs for air. Not even Yoichi could stifle his chuckling for Kimizuki's sake. "Alright, I'll give it to ya – that was pretty good, Shinya." Yuichiro slaps said white-haired student on the back, who giggles lightly in response.
"Told you so!" They all make it back to the common room with mostly steadied breathing.
As soon as they are all seated in their circle once again, Kimizuki looks right at Yuichiro, ready to get revenge for whatever he did this time. "Yuichiro, truth or dare?"
"Truth." Yuichiro tries to look nonchalant, trying to hide his mixed emotions about ever wanting to play this game.
Kimizuki scoffs. "Wimp. Anyways...well, since you're pretty new here, have you met anyone you've got feelings for yet?"
A/N: The Truth or Dare scene was supposed to be its own chapter, but I figured that would make this one too short. Instead, you got sneak preview of what's to come! Thanks for sticking around! Also, it's really hard to proof read when someone is watching Paw Patrol right next to you, so I hope that there aren't any horrible mistakes. ;)
