"Mikaela? I didn't know you were coming!" Yuichiro stutters out in disbelief.
He smiles with rosy cheeks, a hand tucked behind his back as he waves the other one shyly. "I'm here," he announces weakly.
"Welcome to the party!" Shinoa sings excitedly, pumping a fist in the air. Kimizuki snickers. He's know Shinoa long enough to be able to sniff out her intentions. "Now that the gang is all here," she continues, "let's get this show on the road!" Without awaiting further instructions, everyone comes closer and forms a circle. Everyone except for Mikaela, standing awkwardly in front of a gap in the circle between Yuichiro and Guren. He hadn't realized that he was supposed to sit.
"Sorry," he mutters as he takes a seat. "A-And thank you."
"Feel free to take some food," Shinoa offers alongside a smile, gesturing towards the pile of Kids Cuisine boxes.
"Thank you," Mikaela mutters, silently refusing to take any.
The whole team settles down in their spots as they prepare for their game. Uninterest seems to shine in all of their eyes, but if they really hadn't wanted to come, then they just wouldn't have. As always, Shinoa makes herself comfortable at the head of the circle. Well, really, a circle doesn't have a lead, but Shinoa makes it possible. Beside her is Mitsuba, followed by Kimizuki, Yoichi, Yuichiro, Mikaela, Guren, Shinya, and back to Shinoa. They all wait expectantly to hear what this week's game will be. "This evening, it just so happens that we will be playing..." Shinoa pauses for the dramatic effect, gauging out everyone's impatient reactions with a small giggle before continuing, "'Never Have I Ever...'"
"Yay!" Yoichi shouts overdramatically, trying to get everyone else somewhat excited for the night.
"Cool," Kimizuki struggles to say, trying to be as enthusiastic as he can currently muster.
"How do we play this one?" Yuichiro asks, smiling nervously. Crap, Mikaela is sitting right next to him. Is this kind of behavior okay? Does Mikaela think he's being a little too excited? Ugh, boys are so confusing.
"Isn't this supposed to be a drinking game?" Kimizuki inquires, his chin rested on the palm of his hand. "If you haven't noticed, I don't think all of us here are of age."
"Oh, so you have heard of this game?" Shinoa smiles, ignoring the question for now. "For the people who don't know, or just don't know of the version we're going to be playing, here's what's up. The basic idea is that we all take turns saying something that begins with 'never have I ever.' And please make sure that you're being completely truthful throughout the whole game, but I know that won't be an issue, right?" she says with a dangerous tone of voice before continuing cheerily. "Then, who ever has done that has to fess up. Tell us a story about it, too. For every time you say you have done something, put up one finger. The first one to put up all fingers is the loser."
Shinya is smiling devilishly, looking like he's already concocting a plan. "And what happens if you lose?" Guren rolls his eyes, feigning disinterest. He knows, however, that losing this could be very deadly.
Shinoa's smile widens. "Why, Shinya, I'm so glad you asked! The loser will have to consume a whole mug full of whatever all of the winners put together." Shinya chuckles in what seems like some sort of a cross between nervousness and absolute wickedness. Kimizuki slaps a hand over his mouth, acting like he could throw up, while Yoichi tries to comfort him awkwardly.
"Tch." Yuichiro grimaces. He looks over at Mikaela, only to see how nervous he looks. "I'm so sorry," Yuichiro whispers. Mikaela shakes his head hurriedly, quickly dismissing his fear.
"So, who would like to go first?" Shinoa inquires. Shinya's hand immediately shoots up. "Shinya, you're up."
"Thank you very much," Shinya replies with utter pleasure. "Never have I ever kissed a girl." Shinoa flashes him a dangerously twisted smile as she puts up a finger. Mitsuba burns a bright red as she tries to hide her own finger. Guren follows along shortly after, along with a hesitant Yoichi. Kimizuki looks shocked, but Shinya pays no mind to anybody but Shinoa. "Really?" he says in fake surprise. "Do tell everyone just what happened, if you wouldn't mind."
Shinoa's eyes shoot daggers into Shinya's soul. "It was with Mitsu," she states plainly, fighting to hide her anger. Oh, was Shinya going to get it.
Mistuba rubs her hot face in her hands. "Shinoa, why would you say that?" she snaps.
"It's part of the game, Mitsu. You have to tell the truth." Shinoa sticks her tongue out playfully.
"Wow. Thanks for sharing, Shinoa and Mitsu. I would have never guessed," Shinya fakes obviously. Honestly, Yuichiro never would have. Everyone else, however, was well aware of the relationship between those two. "Now, Guren and Yoichi, please tell us your stories."
Kimizuki stiffens as Yoichi speaks up. "Mine was...um...A girl just tried to kiss me when I was in middle school." Kimizuki whacks him upside the head. "Hey!"
"Mahiru," Guren mumbles, his voice quiet with boredom.
Shinoa harrumphs. "My turn! Never have I ever...kissed someone on the first date!" she says, sticking her tongue out at Shinya.
Shinya rolls his eyes with a smile. "Alright, you got me." He puts up a finger. Guren puts up a second finger. Shinya looks at him knowingly. "It was with Guren, and what a lovely first date it was."
"Idiot," Guren mutters, his face in his hands.
Mitsuba's second finger goes up, along with Yuichiro's first. "I'm not sharing," she says, crossing her arms.
"It was with nobody you'd know," Yuichiro admits plainly, gaining Mikaela's slight interest.
"Yeah!" Mitsuba agrees loudly.
"Whatever," Shinoa says good naturedly. "Mitsu, it's your turn."
She leaves her arms in their crossed position. "Never have I ever drank underage."
Shinoa is the only one to put another finger up. "Boo."
Mitsuba growls at her. "Okay, so when?"
She shrugs. "I go to parties." Mitsuba rolls her eyes at this.
Guren rolls his eyes as well. "Why am I not surprised?"
Kimizuki sighs, ready to get his turn over with. He's about to say something when Yoichi interrupts, gripping on to his arm and shaking him around weakly. "Kimizuki, if you don't play seriously, then you're going to have to drink whatever they come up with! I doubt that it's going to be any good."
Kimizuki groans slightly. "Alright, alright. Never have I ever pulled an all-nighter." He says it as if he doesn't care, but the pride is obvious in his eyes, even behind thick purple glasses. Yuichiro, Mitsuba, Shinoa, and even Mikaela put up a finger immediately.
"Every class ever," Shinoa explains openly.
"Yeah," Mitsuba and Yuichiro agree simultaneously. They all look at Mikaela expectantly.
He fiddles with his hands nervously, his face heating up under everyone's stare. "I, um...It was just once...for my poetry class."
"Poetry?" Yuichiro's emerald eyes fixate on Mikaela, pools of emotion that glitter with disbelief.
Mikaela blinks in surprise. "Oh...Er, yeah. I study poetry."
"My turn!" Yoichi clasps his hands together, his smile beamish. "Never have I ever skipped school!" Everyone puts up another finger. "Kimizuki, you, too?"
Yuichiro looks at Yoichi with a look that says, 'Seriously?' "We've all been to school for, like, fifteen years. I'm not surprised that everyone here just wanted to take a day off."
Shinoa nods. "Mitsu and I have skipped for the mall a few times."
Yuichiro shrugs. "I've just slept the whole day away more than once." The others don't say anything, either because they're too scared to, or just because there's not much else to say. "Alright, how about this: Never have I ever...cross-dressed." Shinya puts up a finger with a smirk. Mikaela hesitantly pokes out another finger. "Really?" Yuichiro turns bright red at his own question.
Shinoa laughs profusely. "Good one! Now please, if you'd care to tell us your stories."
"It was for...um..." Mikaela toys with his bleach blonde hair nervously, the blush on his face standing out on his pale skin. He looks up with crystal-like, baby blue eyes. "Do I have to?"
Shinoa smiles reassuringly. "Why, of course not, sweetie!" She elbows Mitsu. "Look, look! He looks like a lost little puppy!" Mitsuba laughs evilly. Yuichiro glares at the pair. "However, I will have to ask that Shinya shares his story in your stead."
"Not a chance!" Shinya smiles sweetly.
"It's my turn," Mikaela speaks up shyly. "Never have I ever dumped someone." Guren, Yuichiro, Mitsuba, Shinoa, and Shinya all put up another finger. That means that Kimizuki and Yoichi are tied at one. Mikaela has three. Shinya, Yuichiro, and Guren are all at four. Shinoa and Mitsuba are both at five, all of their fingers on their one hand put up. Shinoa smiles with a grimace. Mitsuba growls deeply.
Yuichiro laughs victoriously. "Nice job!" He high-fives Mikaela, who blinks in surprise. "Looks like we've got our losers!"
