Lucy's POV

After Levy and Gajeel dropped me off, I dragged my feet along the path towards the Heartfilia mansion. I decided to enter by the rusty side gate since it was away from the main road where any of my class mates could've seen and only a few people knew about it. Also the path which led to it was beautiful, it was by a little stream and in the summer the blue water reflected light on to the waterlilys and the other flowers. There was a tall oak tree with a branch which leaned over into the Heartfilia mansion residence, I never got to but I knew that one day I would climb it and see if I could make a rope swing.

When I got to the rusty gate, I had to hide behind a tree. Someone was there, and that someone was Natsu Dragneel.

Peeking around the tree, I saw that he had placed a bouquet of flowers infront of the gate. He looked like he was in a bad mood, just when I thought that he was about to leave, he sat down on his bag and chuckled.

"You'll never guess what Luce. There's a new girl at school, she reminds me of you."

I gasped and hid behind the tree again, just in case he heard me.

"She likes the same book you liked, 'The Dragon Tamer' one. I thought she looked like you, but her eyes are green and her hair is brown. She acts similar to you, She takes French, I've already said how I'm awful at languages but watching her she makes me want to learn it. Like with you, the little lessons you'd always give me on Tuesdays when everyone else was swimming. You'd stay inside with me and teach me words and phrases."

"Heck, if she had brown eyes and blonde hair she could be you! Well, not you completely, but you know what I mean. There's only three signs which would prove to me that she is you. First one would be easy, recite our favourite line from 'The Dragon Tamer', '"If I go, then you have to come with me so we can tell everyone else about it together."' She'd also have to buy me those dragon cookies I love. You know my favourite flavour."

The spicy ones which made me feel sick.

"And then, well... Only you would know the next one. She would have to log in."

Log in? 

"I really do miss you Luce. I know what we did was stupid, but we were kids. We didn't know any better, and ... and, we all miss you. Levy didn't even know what happened. She was ill, so if you ever think to contact someone, contact her. I won't be selfish and wish for you to call me or randomly turn up at my house one day and surprise me, because I don't deserve it. Levy misses you, after all of these years, she's the one who thinks of you the most." He moved around and I heard him jump up. "Oh crap I've got to get going! I've got a family meal, I've spent too long here. I hope you like the flowers, they're your favourite." After that, I heard the pounding of Natsu's feet as he ran off.

Coming out from my hiding spot, I cautiously made my way to the gate. The flowers were my favourite, snapdragons. Picking up the bouquet, I opened the gate and strolled up the path and into the mansion.

"How was your first day?" My father asked.

"It was good."

"Did anyone recognise you?"

"Only Levy, and possibly this guy called Gajeel."

"Levy McGarden? Wasn't she-?"

"Don't worry Papa, we spoke about it. She was really ill and she didn't go to school for a couple of weeks. Her Gran lives in the middle of nowhere and she couldn't call me to say she was ill." I balanced on one foot and took an orange from the fruit bowl on the coffee table. "Natsu confirmed it. I overheard him talking about it."

"That boy is still sounding as clueless as ever." Before Papa could say anything else, the phone rang. One of the maids came in moments after and told Papa that it was someone for him. "Excuse me Lucy."

I made my way to my bedroom and threw my bags on the floor. My wig was easy to take off but it took time to remove my contacts without hurting my eyes.

After doing an hour's worth of homework, I decided to lie down on my bed and nap for a bit. But my phone had other plans for me, it buzzed and alerted me to a text message off of Loke.

Loke: Hey, Levy is askin 4 phone number do u want 2 giv it 2 her?

I smiled and although no one was in my room, I nodded.

Lucy: Sure, we spoke + she knows about me its cool

Loke: ah kk ;)

Lucy: yh kk :)

Loke: dont make fun of my kwl txting skllz bruh, kk?

I laughed and replied;

Lucy: i wnt mk fun of ur txting skllz bruh . was the new episode of real dragonwives of magnolia on??

Loke: of course, how could i miss that?! omg gurl y would i miss that

Lucy: okay shush about dragonwives

Loke: seriously, ive recorded the series

Lucy: really?

Loke: yh, capri-sun-corn is watching it with me l8r

Lucy: have fun

Loke: i want hilary to slap lizzie

Lucy: why

Loke: because i h8 them both

Lucy: why

Loke: because hilary stole amy's boyfriend and lizzie is a biatch

Lucy: its hard to believe that youre just kidding now

Loke: what why?

Lucy: because thats whats really happening

Loke: .... ill see u tomoz

Lucy: bye bye dragonwives buddy~

It wasn't long until I got a text off of Levy.

Levy: Hi Lucy~ I'm sorry about your ninth birthday -_-

Lucy: Hey! Don't worry about it, its the others who im mad at really

Levy: *it's and **I'm , sorry I tend to do that sometimes >-< but thanks for not being mad at me.

Lucy: Ha ha! Okay, grammar police! It's okay, if I was mad at you for that then that'd be really mean

Levy: Why don't you ask the others why they couldn't come?

Lucy: I asked them then, they didn't tell me. Plus they lied to me, I don't want liars for friends.

Levy: Okay then, I won't push you to ask. But at least consider it.

Lucy: Fine. But until I do, you can't tell anyone who 'Layla Hart' really is

Levy: It's like a secret mission right? Don't worry, I won't tell oU-

Lucy: Thanks, and what was that meant to be?

Levy: A winky face  !!! 0U=  does that work better?

Lucy: Yeah, well I'll see you tomorrow~!

Levy: Bye~~~!

Soon after texting Levy, my mind wandered back to what Natsu said earlier. I looked at the flowers on my desk and smiled.

"'If I go, then you have to come with me so we can tell everybody about it together''," Natsu and I used to say that all the time before going on some sort of adventure on the school playground or before exploring someone's house or garden." I sighed as I remembered the time when we snuck into Erza's garden and had to run away when Erza chased us out with a broom.

He said that if I recited that line, then he would suspect that I, well Layla was actually Lucy. Or a clone of some sort. Something along those lines. He also said that I'd have to buy him the dragon cookies, and 'log in'?

"Well at least I know what to avoid." I tried to focus on what sort of revenge I could get, but my mind kept going back and thinking of Natsu's words. How he was sorry, and how they missed me. "No. No, I've come too far now, I can't give up. It'd be a waste."

Trying to take my mind off of the matter, I got up and decided to do more homework. I sang along to some songs and eventually, I was in my own little world. 

As it always does, reality came crashing through when a servant knocked on my door.

"Miss Heartfilia, your dinner is ready. Your father has had to leave to meet a business partner for dinner, he says that it's urgent and there was nothing he could do to postpone."

"Thanks," I closed my books and opened the door. "I'm coming to get my dinner now."
